* Cindy and Stan taking down the remnants of Horsecock's group in the last issue of the original series.
* Harry, Paddy, Taff and Jock wiping out a group of Crossed before they can butcher Father Dennis and the children in ''The Fatal Englishman''.
** At the end of that arc, Harry faces his practically inevitable death at the hands of the Crossed with [[FaceDeathWithDignity a stiff upper lip.]]
* Aoileann [[TalkingTheMonsterToDeath disarming the Gamekeeper with only words]] in Volume 2, Chapter 20 of ''Wish You Were Here'', turning him into a cringing little boy.
--> '''Aoileann''' (to the Gamekeeper): "You stop that ''right this instant'', you silly little man."
* The opening scene of ''Wish You Were Here'' has Shaky missing a shot at a Crossed in a rowboat bearing down on Cavaite fisherman Vincent. Elisa then snatches the gun out of Shaky's hands and fires a more accurate shot which kills the Crossed perhaps a second or two before Vincent would have been killed or infected.
** Vincent himself gets some credit for what happens next. After swallowing sea water possibly mixed in with infected blood, he quickly shoves his finger down his throat to throw all of that up. [[HopeSpot Unfortunately, none of this saves him from the next wave of Crossed attackers that the current is dragging his overturned boat right towards.]]
* Jackson killing Don with a thrown knife and thwarting the Cavaites' invasion of the Drift Fleet in WYWH.
* The blind Kelly managing to outrun an infected Randall just long enough for Cindy to put a bullet through his head.
* Anytime a cover depicts the survivors turning the tables on the Crossed or otherwise fighting back. Humanity may be fucked, but covers like these let you know they are definitely going out swingin':
** [[http://clzimages.com/comic/large/4a/4a_288257_0_CrossedPsychopath5E.jpg Several Crossed captured in a lab]], one of whom has electrodes implanted in his exposed brain.
** [[https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0230/7913/products/CrossedBad4wrap_1_large.jpeg?v=1368173497 A group of Crossed]] wandering into a swamp full of hungry crocodiles.
** [[http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/d5/33/95/d533959a619791a0aec645bef051a2cd.jpg A guy with two massive machine guns]] (likely Errol from the ''American Quitters'' arc), laying waste to a room full of Crossed.
** [[http://www.avatarpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Crossed36Reg.jpg A woman with a machete,]] with slain Crossed surrounding her.
** [[https://freshcomics.s3.amazonaws.com/issue_covers/MAR211093.jpg This lone warrior hasn't just removed the heads of the Crossed, he'd displayed them as trophies.]]
* In ''Psychopath,'' Harold manages to perform a villainous example of this, as he is able to carry out his plan without a hitch up until the very last step. He wipes out the entire group of survivors he joins (bar Amanda) and Amanda doesn't realize what he's doing up until the moment he attempts to feed her Lori's remains. AxCrazy Harold may be, but he's also one hell of a ManipulativeBastard.
** Amanda also deserves one for sawing off her own hand with barbed wire in order to escape Harold.
* Wentz [[BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork gets the last laugh]] in Issue #70; Land finally kills him, getting his revenge for the deaths of his family, but when Land and Haley disembark, they find that Wentz left an ''immense'' amount of cyanide-laced heroin out for the Crossed to find. Since the Crossed have virtually zero impulse control, they took it and died in droves. Wentz was undeniably a monster, but the survivors have a safe harbor thanks to him.
* Anytime Yamada's lion is taking on the Crossed in ''Five Bloody Fingers.'' Given that he's immune to the Crossed virus due to his nonhuman status and is, you know, a freaking lion, the battles between him and the Crossed are [[CurbStompBattle extremely one-sided.]]
** A villainous example with Yamada himself, as he remains unflappable throughout the arc. Despite finding himself in a hellish apocalypse, he remains cool and collected and completely focused on rescuing his daughter. His only response to learning this is global is to note that he has a bunker ready. The only time he shows any weakness is when Hazuki gives him a ReasonYouSuckSpeech that ultimately drives him to suicide.
* During the climax of the Haven arc, despite losing a hand to a gunshot, [[HiddenAgendaVillain Sutter]] does ''not'' go down easily. Not only does he kill several Crossed with his pistol while bleeding from the stump, but he also manages to overpower another Crossed and kill him with his functioning arm.
* Oliver managing to outwit Smokey and infect himself before he can be forced to give up any of the secrets he uncovered in Cheyenne Mountain in ''Quisling.''
* The biker gang coalition in ''Yellow Belly'' actually is successfully able to defeat the Crossed in their confrontation with them. This is especially remarkable since it is so early in the outbreak and this is around the time the military and police are failing to contain their spread. Unfortunately, a group of Crossed police officers proceed to attack them while they are distracted by punishing [[DirtyCoward Edmund]] and wipe them out.
* In ''The Golden Road'', Clooney attempts to kill Gideon Welles by trapping him in the freezer with one of the Crossed. Welles makes it out of the freezer unscathed and angry.
* ''The Lesser of 2 Evils'' sees Tyree and Richie both survive to the end and reunite because they both manage to land feet first in the river, the latter managing it despite being pushed off the bridge.
* In ''American Quitters,'' after being freed by Elena, Errol proceeds to inflict a world of hurt on the CorruptChurch. He ends up wiping them all out, freeing Frank and making sure the priest who tried to use them as bait for the Crossed gets his [[KarmicDeath just desserts.]]
* Errol's introduction, nonchalantly using his sledgehammer to smash Crossed he passes on the road.
* Patient Zero in ''The Thin Red Line'' resists the effects of the Crossed virus through [[HeroicWillpower sheer willpower.]] Unfortunately, [[NiceJobBreakingItHero Alistair has him tortured]] which causes him to give in to it.
* In ''Gore Angels'', when Emiko has [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil Ryan]] tied up in her room and goes over what she plans to do with him, making him [[BringMyBrownPants piss himself.]] Definitely a moment of comeuppance.
* Oliver's BatmanGambit to PretendWereDead is shown to work flawlessly when it's used, despite the method itself being risky and rarely rewarding.
* During the climax of ''3D'' Elmer takes on a large horde of Crossed with his [[GatlingGood minigun]] to buy time for Preacher, Lori and Dr. Tang to escape by the boat. Even when he gets overwhelmed, he blows himself up with a grenade, taking out even more crazies at once.
* The Gamekeeper ultimately turns out to be one of the worst examples of HumansAreBastards in the series, but there's no denying that he's introduced with style. When he finds Shaky in the woods, being attacked by a trio of Crossed, he kills two of them before anyone sees he's there, then simply tosses Shaky a loaded shotgun, waits to see if he can kill the last Crossed on his own, and then walks off, passing the rest of the group, hiding in the bushes nearby, and grudgingly saying that Shaky can come with them.
* The opening battle of ''Wish You Were Here'' Volume 4, where, with little warning or preparation, the Cavaites -- all of them visibly scared out of their minds -- manage to kill three hundred attacking Crossed, give or take a few dozen, from the Drift Fleet through a mixture of gunfire, a claymore mine, and pumping gasoline into the water, and tossing in a Molotov cocktail as the Crossed wade ashore. Making this even more impressive was how they'd just lot two of their best fighters in the third volume. The fact that they do lose several people undermines it though.
* The climax of ''Wish You Were Here'': Shaky attempts to pull a RedemptionEqualsDeath by using himself as bait to keep the Crossed from chasing the others. Only to be ignored, with the Crossed continuing to chase after the ship with the surviving Cavaites onboard, only for that to be a BatmanGambit by Rab, as Seline blows up the ship, which is filled with oil, using the last claymore, taking out all of the Crossed while Rab and the others watch from the lifeboats that they had escaped in. Even after how they'd abandoned him, Shaky is left delirious with joy, and marvels that he'd never thought Rab had it in him to pull off something like that.
* While it doesn't end that well, the initial stages of Cody and his group trying to break out of the survival bunker with CoolCars and a helicopter after Smokey cuts their air off counts as this.
* In the first Badlands issue, Ian and his group are in an area crawling with Crossed, and they can’t shoot the three walking right towards their hiding place without alerting the others (far more than they have the bullets to shoot). As Ian, Prince Harry, and John are preparing to HoldTheLine for the others, Alec (a fairly unintelligent and clownish character) [[CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass suddenly throws a rock near the three Crossed]], making them turn their heads, at which point he throws more rocks to whack their backs so their leader is convinced the other two hit her when her back was turned and kills them with a cleaver, at which point Alec shows himself, causing that Leader to chase him over a river bank, at which point the others toss a log into the leader, pinning her under the water, while Ian steps up and stomps the Crossed woman’s head flat without any of the dozens of other nearby Crossed knowing a thing. Ian’s inner monologue explicitly calls this a brief moment of triumph in a losing war.
* An EvilVersusEvil example shows up in the final arc of ''Badlands,'' the fact Smokey manages to survive his wives' betrayal. It's implied as he walks away he's going to continue his efforts to build some sort of Crossed society, though since we never see him again afterwards his fate is up in the air.
* The thorough curbstomp beating Bailey and his team of Trackjacks gave to the Crossed envoys in issue #12 of Crossed +100 was nothing short of magnificent. Not only is it one of the few times we have seen humans gain the upper hand against the Crossed, but those were Crossed of the Salt Clan, smart and well-organized. And their leader Bashful was among those killed.
** There are a few villainous examples from the Salt Clan themselves. That's right, the Salt Clan have a few moments. Beauregard Salt was certainly TheChessmaster and his plan successfully allowed for the Crossed to survive. And in the end of ''Crossed +100'' sees one of his descendants [[TheBadGuyWins infect Bailey's army]] that had up to that point been [[CurbStompBattle wiping the floor with them.]]
* Leigha succeeding in freeing herself and getting revenge on her captors/rapists with the help of the gay couple in ''Anti-Crossed'', making it one of the very few uplifting endings of a Crossed arc.
* Genheim defying Bailey's orders and cutting the rope to the balloon where his son and Cautious are in, allowing them to escape the surrounded Murfreesboro, an action Bailey makes him pay for, although given Bailey's plan to kill the Crossed outside, it kind of turns into a SenselessSacrifice.
* Even Don gets one early on in ''Wish You Were Here'', albeit in a characteristically unpleasant way, when John is caught in barbed wire, and about to be infected by Crossed. The others have been shooting, trying to stop the Crossed, but now they're too close to John to keep shooting without risking hitting him, and everyone is reluctant at the thought of mercy-killing him. Don calmly takes a knife, and throws it to John, who, after a moment's pause, slits his own throat just as he's being infected. As the others stare in stunned shock, Don calmly tells them to fire, now that John is dead and they don't have to worry about an UnfriendlyFire incident, which they do after a second, wiping out the Crossed. Don then delivers a brutal BreakingSpeech, illustrating what just happened as the reason that they're drawing names for the upcoming sort at random rather than allowing volunteers: because volunteers tend to be the people they can't spare, and end up getting killed instead of the people that they ''[[TheNeedsOfTheMany can]]'' spare. Agree or disagree with him, it's Don's most impressive moment in the series.
* The hunting parties on the East Coast in the third and fourth Mimic issues have a certain amount of CrazyPrepared HunterOfMonsters shtick to them (not that they aren't vulnerable against some Crossed).
** At one point, they come across a tribe of troglodyte-like Crossed who attack the group of five and kill two of them easily (including Bloom, who was capable of taking a Crossed child by surprise in the third Mimic issue). It seems that all hope is lost, until one of the remaining three blows his airhorn, stunning all the monsters around them (as they're unaccustomed to loud sounds) and letting the rest of his group get out alive.
