* [[ReasonableAuthorityFigure Sheriff Cepeda]] describes Rita as a well-trained officer who can neutralize Santee if given the opportunity. This description turns out to be fully accurate during the bus station shoot-out, triggered by Rita suddenly attacking Santee. If he hadn't got that shotgun, Rita probably would have been able to gain the upper hand enough so that her fellow officers can rush in for the rescue. Bonus Awesome points are also awarded to Santee as well though, as he managed to neutralize both Rita and the nearby cops without killing anyone.
* After Santee releases Rita, she tries to commandeer a dirt bike from his owner on the powers of her deputy status, so that she can chase after Santee. Since she is out of uniform, the AssholeVictim does not take him seriously, and offers her a place on the back of the ride instead, while trying to grab her butt. [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown Rita is not impressed by this]].
* Santee is mowing down about two dozen mooks (in HeroicBloodshed manner no less) in the warehouse shootout, as a clear ShoutOut to Creator/JohnWoo's movies. According to [[http://www.dolph-ultimate.com/JoshuaTree_Essay.pdf an essay on the movie]], when Vic Armstrong (then already an accomplished stunt coordinator) apologized to Creator/JohnWoo for ripping off his movies so blatantly, the latter replied: "''Don't worry Vic, I've been stealing your ideas for years!''"
* Both Santee and Rita deserve credit for the FinalBattle, as the odds are definitely not in their favor. Severance and Rudy are better armed, and they also manage to injure both of them at the beginning of the standoff. They still have enough tricks up their sleeves though that help them turn the tables several times, and ultimately win the fight.
