''The Desert Princess and the Pirates: Adventures in Alabasta'' (also know as ''Episode of Alabasta'') is the eighth film in the ''Franchise/OnePiece'' series.

It is essentially a condensed retelling of the ''Alabasta arc'' in the [[Manga/OnePiece anime and manga]], which had the crew arriving into the country of Alabasta to help their friend Vivi try to save her kingdom from the evil Crocodile, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, who had engineered a civil war in order to take it over.

Released in Japan in 2007. It became the first of the films the Creator/{{Funimation}} dub released in the following year of 2008.

See its [[Recap/OnePieceAlabastaArc recap page]] for more information about the arc.

----
!! The movie has the following tropes:

* AdaptationExpansion:
** The TV version, which was only shown in Japan, included an extended opening that covers the Whiskey Peak arc, which for some odd reason, allowed Chopper to be with the crew when he wasn't by that point in the story.
** There's also a scene near the end of Robin after she's saved by Luffy and unsure of what to do next when she sees the Merry Go and remembers Jaguar D Saul's last words to her.
* AdaptedOut:
** From the TV Version (only shown in Japan), it jumps from Whiskey Peak to the start of the Alabasta arc proper. No Little Garden and no Drum Island.
** Ace, Smoker and Tashigi are not present in the movie since their roles were pretty minor in the arc anyway.
** Due to the Smoker's exclusion, the Rain Diners section was skipped over (meaning Mr. 3 didn't show up either) with Crocodile just happening to find the crew out in the desert rather then managing to catch up to them after they escaped his trap.
** Likewise the second fight of Luffy and Crocodile was not used. Crocodile just appears at the palace where Vivi nearly decides to blow it up and drops her from the upper portions of the palace before going to follow Robin and Cobra, unaware of Luffy and Pell rescuing Vivi.
* AnimationBump: Since it's a movie, the bigger budget allowed for them to go more all out with the action. Especially in the final battle of Luffy and Crocodile.
* CompressedAdaptation: The movie is a more abridged re-telling of the arc.
* OhCrap: Much more emphasized here in the final battle for Crocodile as he actually lets out a BigWhat just before being hit by Luffy's Gum Gum Storm.
* PastelChalkedFreezeFrame: A very awkward use of this in the movie. Some of them are used to emphasis the Straw Hats victories against the Baroque Work agents, though a few end up looking pretty goofy (Nami's and Ussop & Chopper's especially). The final battle starts off using this when Luffy decks Crocodile across the face.
