->''"I know nothing, not even myself. Yet my enemies call me Casshern."''

Casshern is a [[RidiculouslyHumanRobots humanoid robot]] who finds himself in a [[AfterTheEnd decaying, desolate world]]. A plague known as Ruin kills humans and robots alike, and apparently Casshern is responsible for having slain their guardian entity Luna, the only one who could have healed the world. Unfortunately, he isn't sure how much of this is true, since he has amnesia. All he knows is that he is built for combat, [[TheImmune immune to the Ruin]], and able to regenerate any damage -- and that rumor has it if a robot devours Casshern then they will live forever.

A DarkerAndEdgier ContinuityReboot of the post-apocalyptic 1970s anime ''Anime/NeoHumanCasshern'', the 2009 Creator/{{Madhouse}} anime ''Casshern Sins'' focuses on the sudden appearance of death among robots who once thought themselves immortal.

Produced in 2008, the series made its US television debut on Creator/{{Toonami}} beginning on May 26, 2012 (though it aired a year before that on the Creator/{{Funimation}} Channel), as a launch program for the revived block. Is also available (in some countries) on [[https://www.youtube.com/show?p=peSwVWfwoXY YouTube]].
----
!!This show provides examples of:
* ActionGirl: Lyuze and Sophita. Lyuze starts to [[BadassDecay lose her touch near the end]] [[spoiler:due to the Ruin]], but we never see what became of Sophita...
* AfterTheEnd: The setting is a desolate landscape of decaying robots and ruined cities. This is the effect of the Ruin and a large scale war in the background.
* AnimeHair: Almost everyone has improbably fluffy, spiky hair. Then again, it's Umakoshi style.
* AntiVillain: Basically everyone is one of these. Everyone in the average mook ''army'' only tries to "devour" Casshern due to a supposed urban legend: doing so will save themselves because they'll die from the Ruin if they don't. Even the common bandits only attack innocents because they need to replace their ruined parts.
* ApocalypseHow: Class 3a, moving closer to Class 4.
* ArtificialHuman:
** All of the robots have emotions, can feel empathy and can learn. A few of them look completely mechanical and more like traditional robots, but there are many who can't be told apart from humans.
** Casshern, Dio, Leda and Ringo are, technically, not even robots anymore. Luna might also count.
* TheAtoner:
** Casshern, once he learns what's going on, tries to make up for breaking the world.
** Both Braiking Boss and Ohji show elements of this as well, since they both feel somewhat responsible for the assassination of Luna that killed the world. The first one gave the order [[spoiler:to kill her, while the second one created the killer]].
* AtopAMountainOfCorpses: Casshern, in the end of episode 8, stands on a pile of his many victims.
* TheBadGuyWins: [[spoiler:Dio eventually succeeds in his goal of beating Casshern in a fight.]] Fortunately, since that's all he cared about doing, he simply wanders off and waits to die afterwards.
* BarrierMaiden: Luna, and also a combination of FisherKing (well, ''queen)'' and CosmicKeystone. Her death not only introduced entropy to the previously immortal robots, dooming them to eventually die, it caused some form of environmental collapse. Even [[spoiler:her mysterious resurrection did little to restore the world]].
* BattleCouple:
** [[spoiler:Casshern]] and [[spoiler:Lyuze]] begin traveling together, and then they fall in love and become an actual couple.
** The two robots that appear in episode 19, Castor and his unnamed female companion, also seem to be this.
* BeautyIsNeverTarnished: Through the whole show, we see that the effects of the Ruin on robots aren't pretty, with most of them rusting and falling apart slowly till they die. However, in [[spoiler:Lyuze's]] case, she only gets a little rust on a few parts of her body (which are not immediately visible) and [[spoiler:dies in Casshern's arms]] with her body pretty much intact.
** Appears in-story as well: Leda's ultimate goal for [[spoiler: seeking eternal life is to ensure her beauty and perfection are never tarnished]]. Ironically, [[spoiler: her greed [[BodyHorror distorts her horribly]] in the end]].
* BewilderingPunishment: Due to his amnesia, Casshern has no idea why everyone blames him for the world ending and either want to kill or eat him. Once they find out his identity, no one wants to be around him either, so if he's not fighting then he's lonely.
* BittersweetEnding: Besides nearly everyone falling to Ruin and Casshern becoming [[spoiler:death itself]] there seemed to be a strong possibility of [[spoiler:Ringo and Casshern possibly repopulating the earth]] since both were made and heavily implied to be capable of creating life. They both could potentially start a new race of very healthy human/robots and it would fit with the epilogue showing [[spoiler:Ringo and Friender surrounded by flowers while she is at a very fertile age]]. Meanwhile, [[spoiler:Casshern]] does say he will take on the role of death, but wasn't the whole lesson of the series was to show what would life be without death?
* BlessedWithSuck:
** Casshern's immortality can really come in handy, but he also hates it for varying reasons through the course of the story, the worst one probably being that he [[spoiler:outlives Lyuze]].
** Luna's [[spoiler: actual, pre-death]] power also counts. [[spoiler: Her powers of death allowed her to grant mortality to robots and immortal humans, but the experience was apparently so traumatic that after her resurrection she became hellbent on creating a world of eternal life so she wouldn't have to deal with death ever again.]]
* BloodKnight: Sophita, who can only express herself through combat and really loves fighting. It’s no wonder she comes to [[{{InterplayOfSexAndViolence}} love Casshern’s strength]].
%%%%* BreakTheCutie: Nico in episode 9.
* CanineCompanion: The aptly named Friender, a sort of robotic Doberman, accompanies Casshern on his lonely travels.
* CheerfulChild: Ringo, in contrast to her bleak surroundings, is always peppy. Nico is a slightly older version, though she's not all right in the head.
%%%%%* CheshireCatGrin: Braiking Boss never seems to be without one.
* CrapsackWorld: Imagine that you're a near-human robot with type II immorality. Now imagine waking up one morning and learning that the immortality of your entire race has been not only stripped from you but that you're guaranteed to die a shocking, horrific death as you slowly rust away into nothing. Now consider the fact that you're nearly as likely to fall into the {{despair event horizon}} and commit suicide before then or find yourself getting torn to pieces by half-insane robots who want to use you for spare parts. Sure, there is some small glimmer of hope here and there but this includes either devouring perhaps the only true immortal left who eventually accepts his position as the avatar of death [[spoiler: or walking the span of the globe in hopes of meeting a healer who is probably dead.]] Though depending on your take on the ending (see below), [[spoiler:it eventually becomes a AWorldHalfFull]].
* CurbStompBattle: Once Casshern gets a better control over his own power and is able to go full strength into battle without falling into his SuperPoweredEvilSide / UnstoppableRage, he starts delivering quick defeats to anyone not named Dio (as opposed to his [[{{NoHoldsBarredBeatdown}} more destructive tendencies]] seen through the first half of the series).
* DanceBattler: In combat, Casshern performs intricate flips and spins reminiscent to ballet. Look at his lithe, elegantly posed post-battle silhouette and he resembles a dancer as much as he does a powerful, bolt-grinding android.
* DarkerAndEdgier
** An impressive feat, given that the original ''Anime/NeoHumanCasshern'' was already set in a postapocalyptic world with an army of robots/cyborgs hellbent on wiping out humanity. (It's still more upbeat than the LiveActionAdaptation, though).
%%%%* DeadpanSnarker: Akoz the human, probably as a way of staying upbeat.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Inverted. Casshern's two premanent companions [[spoiler:Friender and Lyzue]] originally wanted to kill him. He allowed the first to bite off a piece of his collar and the second to slash his chest several times. After that they were friendly, or in the latter's case, less hostile.
* DespairEventHorizon: Some robots are so far beyond this that anything even remotely hopeful only serves to piss them off.
%%%%* TheDeterminator: Dune especially, but also Dio and Casshern.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Despite being blamed for bringing forth the Ruin, Casshern is ironically treated as a Christ figure, [[RuleOfSymbolism whose death will make those who feed on him live forever]].
* DotingParent: Ohji. Lyuze put it best:
--> '''Lyuze''': "He'd probably research a way to change the color of the sky if it would make Ringo happy."
%%%%* DoubleEntendre: The entirety of episode 4.
* DownerEnding: It depends on your take on the whole ending whether this trope applies or BittersweetEnding is more appropriate. On one hand, [[spoiler:Lyuze and Ohji]] die from the Ruin, Luna is still granting ''salvation'' to whoever wants it, Casshern is once again wandering the CrapsackWorld alone, still cursed with immortality and Ringo grew up with only Friender to keep her company. On the other hand, while Luna grants ''life'' to those who want it, Casshern has decided to become ''death'' itself to remind the immortals that merely being alive and actually ''living'' are two very different things.
** It's also implied that [[spoiler:Ringo]] has healed from the Ruin by herself, and will have a moderate lifespan (neither immortal, nor dying from the Ruin), thus giving hope that the world can return to the balance of life and death, which along with the flowers seen on various spots through the world, and particularly those grown by the main cast, grants a way for the planet, and life on it, to be returned to peace.
%%%* EpisodeTitleCard
* EvilDuo: Leda wants Dio to lead an army of robots, [[TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou Dio wants to defeat Casshern]].
* FantasticRacism: Even the Ruin hasn't stopped many robots from trying to kill any humans they find.
* FashionableAsymmetry: Virtually no one wears matching sleeves. You wear what you can find.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: Signals Casshern going into berserker mode. Villainous robots tend to combine this with RedEyesTakeWarning.
* GoodEyesEvilEyes: Everyone you're supposed to sympathize with has human-like eyes. Everybody else gets flashlights, bars and dots.
* HopeBringer: Many and most of them are attacked by robots so depressed they think HopeIsScary.
** Luna is the most prominent, "Find Luna and she will heal you."
** Janice inspires with her songs.
** Casshern himself is an odd example. He brings hope by the rumor that his flesh can cure the Ruin.
* HowTheMightyHaveFallen: Braiking Boss. Once the leader of the robot army that conquered the world, now just another robot WalkingTheEarth and slowly succumbing to the Ruin just like everyone else. [[spoiler:For added irony, he was the one that ordered Luna's death to begin with, making his eventual fate his own fault.]]
* IdentityAmnesia: At the very beginning Casshern doesn't remember anything from his past, including his name. Thus he begins a quest to remember who he is, and the truth behind his past (particularly, Luna's death), though he never really remembers much of his past by himself, and only learns of it from others.
* ILetGwenStacyDie: Casshern's killing of Luna, which was what set off the Ruin in the first place and led to so much suffering. While he doesn't remember killing her, he feels responsible for the after effects.
* {{Immortality}}: There are two kinds presented.
** TheAgeless: Before the Ruin, robots were this and it's implied that, eventually, [[spoiler:humans achieved it too]] which prompted Braiking Boss to [[spoiler:start his [[RobotWar war]] against [[TurnedAgainstTheirMasters humans]].]]
** FromASingleCell: Casshern himself will recover from any sort of injury, no matter how severe. [[spoiler:Luna]] is also implied to have this, but we never actually see it onscreen.
* IncurableCoughOfDeath: Apparently an effect of the Ruin on humans, complete with BloodFromTheMouth.
* JigsawPuzzlePlot: The reasons behind Luna's assassination, her true purpose, the origin of the Ruin, Casshern’s immortality and pretty much anything else that happened before the beginning of the story is revealed very little by little, forcing the viewer to pay attention through the whole series and fit the pieces together, with some elements even being only implied and never outright stated as such. In fact, a second viewing is almost guaranteed to grant newer insight into the plot as a whole, since random elements that appeared unimportant upon first watching will suddenly gain a new meaning.
* EverybodyDiesEnding: Along with all the dead [[OneShotCharacter One Shot Characters]], out of all the recurring characters, only [[spoiler:Casshern, Luna, Ringo and Friender]] make it to the end of the story.
* KillingForATissueSample: Casshern is immune to the Ruin that affects every other robot, and consequently there is a rumor that eating him will grant eternal life. This is hinted at being true since Friender, a robot dog that took a chunk out of him, shows no sign of Ruin years later, but no one asks to slice off a chunk of his regenerating body, they just charge into battle and die.
* LadyAndKnight: The kind songstress Janice (Bright Lady) is introduced with a heroic robot bodyguard (White Knight). He is almost immediately killed at the start of the episode and his place taken by Casshern.
* LeftHanging:
** Leda’s past, her connection to the [[spoiler:lab where Luna was created]] and whatever happened to her while [[spoiler:she was pregnant]], as well as the fate of her [[spoiler:unborn child]] are never explained, aside from it all having been fairly traumatic. It’s very heavily implied that [[spoiler:Ringo is actually her child]], but how exactly did [[spoiler:she end up where Ohji later found her]], is also for the viewer to imagine.
** Then there's the Prism from episode 18. All we are ever told by Ohji is that it has Luna's nanocells and he needs to study it. It's never seen again and we have no idea what happened to it.
* LivingForeverIsAwesome:
** All of the robots that want to eat Casshern are this trope. They're pissed because they were enjoying immortality and now they can't because of the Ruin.
** The other robots follow rumors of Luna's revival in the hopes that she can make them live forever too.
** [[spoiler: Luna herself]] enjoys eternity and is determined to make every robot in her presence share in it if they want.
* LyricalColdOpen: "Aoi hana", the opening theme.
* LyricalDissonance: The opening theme song sounds like a relatively catchy pop-rock song. It's about fearing the unknown and uses a verse about flowers in a barren landscape as a metaphor for people clinging together in the face of death.
* MadeOfIron: Thanks to the Ruin, the robots that once would have probably (literally) counted as this are much more brittle, though some of the main cast is still able to take a lot of punishment. However, the most notable straight example is probably Lizabel, a one shot character who by the end of her episode, has [[spoiler: survived a fall off a very, ''very'' tall tower, slamming into several massive steel girders on the way down, to then having a ''frickin massive bell'' fall from the same height to land ''right on top of her'' with enough force to crater the ground... and she's absolutely fine when Casshern and Friender roll the bell off of her.]]
%%* MadnessMantra: "KILL CASSHERN! DEVOUR CASSHERN! KILL CASSHERN! DEVOUR CASSHERN!"
%%* MauveShirt: Do yourself a favor and don't get attached to any of the one-shot characters. Unfortunately, most of them are written so well that it's hard not to.)
* MayflyDecemberRomance: [[spoiler:Casshern]] and [[spoiler:Lyuze]] eventually fall in love with each other, but since she [[spoiler:decided to accept [[WhoWantsToLiveForever ''death'' rather than receive Luna's ''salvation'']]]] and [[spoiler:he's an immortal, Lyuze dies in his arms]].
* MechanicalLifeforms: Robots became RidiculouslyHumanRobots, but they still couldn't breed (meaning that newer robots had to be built, either by humans or other robots) nor grow (so if a robot is created as a child or baby, they remain so forever). For this reason [[spoiler:Braiking Boss asked]] [[spoiler:Ohji]] to create robots that could actually function as an actual species and thus, [[spoiler:Casshern, Dio and Leda]] where created, being heavily implied that [[spoiler:Ringo]] is actually [[spoiler:Dio and Leda's child]].
* MetalMuncher: Casshern himself is seemingly immortal, and is subject to numerous people who desperately want to eat him in hopes of gaining that immortality. Throughout the series are are many rumors of similar robots who claim to be immortal, and at some point or another meet their end and are ravenously devoured by the hopeless masses.
* MindScrew: Episode 18. Lyuze experiences some pretty abstract dreams of her dead sister Liza, [[spoiler:along with repeated photographs of a live action woman who may or may not be Lyuze's voice actress.]]
* MonstrosityEqualsWeakness: While robots never get too terribly monstrous, the standard [[RedShirt mooks that get killed in the thousands]] all look completely mechanical and have weird proportions, while the more human looking robots (the ones more along the lines of a cyborg) are usually much stronger.
%%* MusicalEpisode: "A Hymn of Hope".
* MythologyGag: Casshern's "sister", Leda, is named for a Myth/ClassicalMythology figure associates with swans. In the [[Anime/NeoHumanCasshern original anime]], [[spoiler:Casshern's mother became Swanee.]]
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Dune, the God of Death.
* NightmareFace: This [[SarcasmMode very pretty]] [[http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b269/MetalSonic700/casshern8.jpg shot of flashback!Casshern]] that likes to pop up frequently just before the OP.
* NoAntagonist: Apart from loads and loads of {{Mooks}}, all of the main characters are sympathetic to at least some degree. Dio and Leda are the closest thing to {{Big Bad}}s, but [[WhiteAndGreyMorality their ambitions are rather petty to consider them as truly evil]].
* NoBodyLeftBehind: Robots turn to dust when they die.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Casshern whenever he goes into his SuperPoweredEvilSide[=/=]UnstoppableRage mode (his mask closes and his eyes glow green) delivers this against pretty much everyone, without even realizing he's doing it. The only two to ever stand a chance here are Dio and Jin.
* NoImmortalInertia: While the Ruin moves much slower than how this trope is usually applied, it can still be shown to affect robots much faster than rust would affect machinery in real life. At one point a robot strong enough to choke the life out of another is suddenly blown away by a strong wind. Suffice to say, [[TransformationAtTheSpeedOfPlot the Ruin moves at the speed of plot]].
* OneWomanWail : The main musical piece, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEo-wJGsXeY "Luna's Theme"]].
* OneShotCharacter: Since he’s WalkingTheEarth, Casshern seems to meet at least one of these (sometimes several, though the main focus is still only on one of them) on almost every single episode for more than half of the series. They will usually teach him an important lesson about living your life to its fullest. The worst part of this is that at least half of them should have been seen again (see, WhatHappenedToTheMouse).
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou:
** Dio obsessively tries to defeat Casshern. It is literally the only thing he lives for.
** Lyuze eventually tells Casshern that he's not allowed to die until she kills him [[spoiler:and gets revenge for her sister. Though eventually, she refuses to let him die so that he can find a way to save the world instead.]]
* ThePowerOfHate: For a guy who was so close to dying he couldn't even walk, Dune sure gets lively once Casshern's mentioned...
* PrettyBoy: Casshern, for a robot, is slender and very pretty. Everyone comments on it.
* PyrrhicVictory: [[spoiler: In their final battle, Dio defeats Casshern but the strain of doing so breaks him and he dies shortly afterward. Not that he minds, having accomplished his only goal, so he doesn't see it as Pyrrhic.]]
* ReverseCerebusSyndrome: The series takes on a rather [[DownplayedTrope nuanced approach]] to this trope. As the series progresses, the tone gets subtly brighter and the world becomes more lively. The series starts out as a grim, apocalyptic future and ends on a bright, flowery day.
* RidiculouslyHumanRobots: Many robots look so close to human that it is difficult to tell them apart. [[spoiler: It is implied that Leda, Dio and Casshern are even capable of breeding.]]
* TheRival: Dio to Casshern, to the point that [[spoiler:when he finally defeats him in a fair fight, he sees no more reason to continue living.]]
* RobotWar: Happened in the backstory, where Braiking Boss created a robot empire and wiped a big majority of the human population.
* SceneryGorn: There are lots of beautifully painted desolate landscapes.
* SheIsAllGrownUp: [[spoiler:Ringo]] is shown during the series' epilogue to have grown into a beautiful young woman.
* ShoutOut: Ringo's theme is [[Manga/BattleAngelAlita Alita's theme]], but LighterAndSofter.
* SkywardScream: Casshern's reaction to [[spoiler:Nico's death]] is very loud.
%%%%* SnowMeansDeath
* StockFootage: Some battle scenes are reused a few times during the course of the show.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: We're not quite sure what Casshern's snapping ''exactly'' is, but whatever it is, [[UnstoppableRage it leaves nothing but complete devastation in its wake]]. This is quite tragic for Casshern himself, who personally seems to have very little awareness once it starts - he basically comes back around to see that everything he was getting friendly with has been torn into shreds and to wonder why his hands are soaked in oil.
%%%* TheseHandsHaveKilled
* TrailersAlwaysSpoil: [[spoiler:The dub version's tagline spoils the entire theme of death being preferable to immortality. It's part of the title graphic as well, so you get reminded once an episode that the Ruin is actually the robots' salvation.]]
* TurnedAgainstTheirMasters: As part of the backstory, the robots at some point in the past rebelled against humanity (led by Braiking Boss) and wiped the vast majority of it. Interestingly, plenty of powerful robots decided to stay on the side of humanity by their own choice and are the main reason why humans weren’t completely obliterated in the first place.
* TwistedEucharist: Casshern spends most of the series being chased by desperate robots seeking to kill him and eat his flesh to gain eternal life. [[spoiler: Luna grants eternal life to those who seek her by letting them drink her blood, but gaining eternal life makes them listless until Casshern decides to become death itself to remind them that they can die.]].
* UnholyMatrimony: Dio and Leda, who in the end really do [[spoiler:love each other]]. ]
* UncannyValley: Subtly employed in the designs of the more humanoid robots. When paired with the rare glimpses we get of humans, it becomes apparent just how eerie the likes of Casshern or Lyuze look with their stylized facial structures and perfect features.
* UnresolvedSexualTension: There’s plenty of this between [[spoiler:Casshern]] and [[spoiler:Lyuze]] once they start [[spoiler:traveling together]], but unlike most cases, it doesn’t take them that long to resolve it. Episode 18 even gives us a glimpse inside [[spoiler:Lyuze’s]] head, and the conflict between [[spoiler:her hate]] against [[spoiler:her sister’s killer]] and [[spoiler:her newfound love]] for the actual [[spoiler:''man'' he]] has become, as well as the fairly [[{{MindScrew}} trippy nightmares]] this is giving her.
* WaifFu: Thin arms deploying great strength is regularly employed by everyone who isn't a mook. It's somewhat justified since they're all robots and thus not susceptible to human biology.
* WalkingTheEarth: Casshern and most of the main characters spend the vast majority of the series traveling. They seek Luna or some other purpose in the dead world.
** This is also what [[spoiler:Casshern]] decides at the ending, promising to travel the world [[spoiler:forever]] in order to become [[spoiler:''death'']] for those who don't [[spoiler:know]] of it (mainly [[spoiler:Luna’s immortals]]). To quote his parting words:
--> [[spoiler:'''Casshern''' (to Luna)]]: [[spoiler: “If they can live, then it's better than just dying. I won't oppose you. But… If you… if any of you ever forget about death, then I’ll be back”]].
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse:
** What happened to [[spoiler:Bolton,]] the injured robot Casshern left behind with the promise that he would get Luna to heal him? We never hear of him again.
** And for that matter, whatever happened to every single character, human or robot, that Casshern meet through the first half of the series and wasn’t dead by the end of its episode or didn’t fulfill their goal? Does [[spoiler:Sophita]] ever meet Casshern again as she promised? Is [[spoiler:Janice]] still bringing hope to humans and robots through [[spoiler:her songs]]? Do [[spoiler:Jin]] and his [[spoiler:group]] ever find Luna? Does [[spoiler:Toro]] ever get to repair [[spoiler:Gido]]? We will never know. And while they aren't the focus of the story, all of humanity could be included here as well, since after they get to Luna, no human appears ever again on the story, and the fate of humanity by the ending is anyone's guess.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Dio is certainly pretty enough to qualify, and cruel enough at the beginning, though he may not be completely evil.
* WhoWantsToLiveForever: After realizing how the robots [[spoiler:''saved'' by Luna]] become completely devoid of a purpose in life once [[spoiler:she grants them immortality, Lyuze, Ringo and eventually Ohji decide they would rather die from the Ruin, but with their feelings and personalities intact]].
** The first one to accept his death, rather than become [[spoiler:immortal]] was [[spoiler:Dune]]. [[spoiler:Dio]], and eventually, [[spoiler:Leda]], also count, both deciding to [[spoiler:die from the Ruin]] in the end. Same thing with [[spoiler:Braiking Boss]], who despite bringing plenty of robots to [[spoiler:drink Luna's blood]] to be [[spoiler:saved from the Ruin]], decides not to do it himself and [[spoiler:dies fighting Casshern]], as a way to repent for [[spoiler:his role in the current state of the world]].
** [[spoiler:Originally, Luna granted both immortal humans and robots alike the gift of a natural death, until Braiking Boss sent Casshern to kill her.]]
* WhatYouAreInTheDark: One of the major themes of the series. Once-immortal robots now have to deal with the prospect of inevitable yet unpredictable Ruin. What do they do about it? Some sit and wait for the end. Some stake everything on rumors of immortality in a desperate attack against an immortal robotic killing machine. As the series reveals, still others cross the wasteland in search of salvation in the form of [[spoiler:the reborn Luna]]. And some just try to find purpose or meaning in their actions before their Ruin, despite the hatred of those who surrendered to nihilism and despair.
