''Light Speed Electric Albegas (光速電神アルベガス)'' is a 1983 anime produced by Creator/ToeiAnimation. Episodes aired from March 30, 1983 to February 8, 1984 every Wednesday, ending at 45 episodes.

At Aoba High School, three students, Daisaku Enjouji, Tetsuya Kami, and Hotaru Mizuki construct their own {{Humongous Mecha}}s for a competition. Around the same time, a fascist military organization, known as the Dellinger organization, plans an AlienInvasion on Earth and send an attack force. Though the three teenagers try to counter the attack, they're unsuccesful.

Luckily, Hotaru's father, Dr. Mizuki, happens to be a skilled scientist who had already been developing a plan to ward off the Dellingers. He modifies the three teenager's robots into the all-powerful robot Albegas, who crushes their forces. Saisaku, Tetsuya and Hotaru, now aided by their friends and schoolmates, now helm the mighty robot and dedicated themselves to protecting the Earth. Only time can only tell who will emerge victorious.

Toei has the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ezb28kjbfM8 first]] two episodes uploaded for viewers on their Platform/YouTube channel.

!!''Light Speed Electric Albegas'' has examples of:
* AdjectiveNounFred: ''Light Speed Electric Albegas''.
* AffectionateParody: ''Albegas'' is a parody of several mecha anime that preceded it:
** The main heroes are three kids that are FamedInStory for their heroic exploits, but their SixthRanger, Goro, who does a lot of the work, is always ignored (which is a reference to how anime fandoms favour certain characters over the others).
** Goro is fat and unattractive [[note]]the main female lead doesn't show any attraction to him, but shows attraction to the two male main characters. This is despite the fact that he openly likes her[[/note]]. He is parody of how otakus (in this case, mecha anime fans) are seen by non-otakus. To further accentuate the "otaku" angle, his robot is a parody of Boss Borot from ''Anime/MazingerZ'', and he also has a poster of Manga/CaptainHarlock in it.
** The popularity of Albegas results in dedicated fans creating the "Albegas encyclopedia" (a nod to TheWikiRule). It is a bestseller and contains details such as the combining of Albegas, the strategy the Dellingers up to that point, and its pilots. However, it doesn't mention the Gori-Robo, causing Goro to get angry and complain [[DudeWheresMyRespect about the lack of respect he gets]].
** The main female lead is constantly kidnapped and used for gratuitous {{fanservice}} (despite the fact that of the main three, she's the most skilled with robots).
** In the GrandFinale, the main character [[spoiler: genocides the entire race of the alien that invaded their planet, massacring several innocents along the way. Keep in mind that throughout the show, some of the aliens of this race were amongst their friends and allies]].
* AirborneAircraftCarrier: The Dellingers' spaceships consist of this, as they are {{Sufficiently Advanced Alien}}s that are skilled at constructing war machines.
* AliensAreBastards: The Dellingers are grotesque, hideous, evil aliens that want to colonize the Earth. They constantly set up traps to and manipulate humans into doing their bidding. They're also responsible for the death of Hotaru's mother. [[spoiler: Only a few are truly good at heart, like Julia and General Dally]].
* AliensSpeakingEnglish: The Dellingers don't have any problem communicating to the humans and vice versa.
* AllMenArePerverts:
** Daisaku constantly thinks about Hotaru's breasts and likes looking at porn magazines in his spare time. During a treasure hunt, he eagerly crawls into a girl's bed. He's practically the proto-[[Anime/HighschoolDXD Issei Hyoudou]].
** The Vice Principal has a nymphomaniac obsession with Danko and grabs her breasts with both of his hands in the first episode.
** Hotaru is mobbed by boys everywhere she goes for her good looks. She's nicknamed the "Madonna" of Aoba High School.
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Admittedly it's up to interpretation, but Hotaru shows signs of a crush on Tetsuya, who only has eyes for Julia. Meanwhile Goro likes Hotaru, but she barely knows he exists.
* AlternativeForeignThemeSong: The full series was broadcasted uncut in Argentina, complete with [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5Grlo-9O0c this]] theme song.
* AllThereInTheManual: Supplementary material states that Tetsuya's birthday is July 17th.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: The Dellinger race all have purple skin, much like the [[Anime/GoLion Galrans]].
* BuxomBeautyStandard: Both Daisaku and the Vice Principal prefer busty girls. When Daisaku looks at a porn magazine, he laments that Hotaru's breasts aren't as big as the pornstar's. The anime also features breasts getting groped, a lot.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: In the GrandFinale, this happens to the Dellingers as [[spoiler: Albegas destroys the Delan star, which is interconnected to them as a race, causing all of them to simultaneously perish]].
* CombiningMecha: Albegas is made up of an α robot (piloted by Daisaku), a β robot (piloted by Tetsuya) and a γ robot (piloted by Hotaru). It's also aided by a Gori-Robot which Goro pilots.
* ComingOfAgeStory: Imagine being an OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent, and then learning that the fate of the world is on you and your friends' shoulders. As Daisaku manages this newfound responsibility, he also learns important lessons about friendship and overcoming {{Dark And Troubled Past}}s, as well as his [[{{Tsundere}} complicated feelings]] for Hotaru.
* CoolBigSis: Ritsuko is this to Tetsuya. She's a FriendToAllChildren who feels protective of any kid that's being bullied, because she sees her little brother in them.
* CoolSword: Albegas' Sanbai Sword attack, which is often used to kill many a Dellinger machine. And it's rainbow.
* DubNameChange: Averted with the Latin American Spanish dub. The original Japanese names are left unchanged.
* EveryoneWentToSchoolTogether: Daisaku, Jin, Hotaru and Goro know each other through Aoba High School, and Hotaru's father Professor Mizuki is a teacher there.
* EveryoneCanSeeIt:
** Daisaku has an obvious crush on Hotaru, but he's too {{Tsundere}} to admit it.
** Prof. Mizuki clearly has a thing for his assistant, Saiko, something even ''Hotaru'' can see. [[spoiler: They eventually get engaged in episode 17]].
* FamedInStory: PlayedForLaughs. The popularity of Albegas results in dedicated fans creating the "Albegas encyclopedia". It is a bestseller and contains details such as the combining of Albegas, the strategy the Dellingers up to that point, and it's pilots. However, it doesn't mention the Gori-Robo, causing Goro to get angry and complain about the lack of respect he gets.
* {{Fanservice}}: Hotaru is quite busty, and we get a lot of gratuitous breast shots.
* FlyingBrick: Albegas is 40m tall, and weighs 2100 tons. It was originally a robot created for competitions created by three students, but after undergoing major modifications by Professor Mizuki, it was re-fashioned into a HumongousMecha. Aside from Gori-Robo, it is the only force on Earth that can compete with Dillinger, hence why destroying it is their top priority.
* GalacticConquerer: The Dellingers, [[spoiler: though there's actually a sympathetic reason for this. Their old power source, the star Delan, is dying and if it lifespan fizzes out, they'll die too. In the GrandFinale, Albegas destroys it with it's Sanbai Sword - resulting in the Dellingers facing total extinction]].
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: When Julia is killed in battle, her father, General Dally, is enraged and vows to get revenge on Albegas. However, he changes his mind once he is plagued by visions of her, deciding to save Hotaru because of her and also choosing to sacrifice his life by defying the Dellingers.]]
* InconsistentColoring: Hotaru's hair is [[https://cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com/images/fotolife/s/satatomio/20191026/20191026002504.jpg brown]], but supplementary material suggests it's [[https://shop.toei-video.co.jp/Contents/ProductImages/0/DUTD08954_LL.jpg dirty blonde]].
* InterspeciesRomance: [[spoiler: Julia is a Dellinger who falls in love with Tetsuya. Sadly, she is killed in battle]].
* TheLostLenore: Kiriko is this to Prof. Mizuki, and Julia is this to Tetsuya.
* LoveTriangle:
** Daisaku clearly likes Hotaru, and it's implied Goro likes her too. However, Daisaku is quite the ChickMagnet himself. Hotaru has shown signs of attraction to both Daisaku and Tetsuya, but not Goro. However, the only person Tetsuya has ever loved was Julia.
** Prof. Mizuki's wife is dead and he's implied to be attracted to Saiko, but when his deceased wife comes back (albeit, as a robot), Saiko struggles with her feelings and feels upset that he's being taken away from her. [[spoiler: They end up in the end, though, as his wife goes back to Europe)]].
* MaleGaze: Apart from Daisaku's non-stop fantasies of Hotaru's chest, there's also the principal groping a student and many {{Fanservice}} shots.
* OncePerEpisode: The Dellingers have a loony plan, the main characters combine their robots to stop it, and there's usually some shenanigans involving Daisuku being a HormoneAddledTeenager.
* PlanetLooters: The main reason why the Dellingers are invading the Earth is because their power source, the great star Delan, is nearing the end of its lifespan and running out of energy. Once the Dellingers learned Earth was rich in energy, they decided to invade it and use it as a new power source.
* RobotMe: In one episode, Hotaru's MissingMom suddenly returns...only to be in the body of a Reploid soldier.
* ShoutOut:
** Episode 3. In Goro's robot, a poster of Manga/CaptainHarlock can be seen.
** Gori-Robo is inspired by the mecha of ''Anime/MazingerZ''.
** Prof. Mizuki has a strong resmblance to Creator/StanLee because of his glasses and hairstyle. [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mizuki_83.png See here]].
* SpacePirate: Gigil, who was nicknamed the "Cassiopeia Hurricane" for his exploits, is held in high regard by the Dellingers.
* SuperRobotGenre: It parodies this genre (with the "Albegas Encyclopedia", as well as references to other popular sci-fi anime such as ''Manga/CaptainHarlock''), but Albegas itself counts and is of the CombiningMecha variant.
* TragicKeepsake: Before her death, Kiriko entrusted Prof. Mizuki with her wedding ring to give to Hotaru in case she ever got married.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: The villains are called the "Dellingers" (as in, the gun). Oddly, their names are quite bland, like "Dally", "Duston", "Azas", "Deran" and "Bios".
* NoodleIncident: Goro apparently had a traumatic incident with whales, hence his dislike of them.
* WakeUpGoToSchoolSaveTheWorld: Prior to piloting Albegas/Gori-Robo, Daisaku, Tetsuya, Hotaru and Goro were ordinary high school students. With the threat of an AlienInvasion, their normal lives are upturned and they risk their lives on the daily to defend Earth, while also attending the same school where they were taught robotic invention.
* WartimeWedding: [[spoiler: Averted. Professor Mizuki and Saiko wait until the war is over, and then get married]].
