Judging from how lovingly Cori describes the prospects of what Jessie and James would do if they had a baby, as well as how long it takes before they come around to the truth, that Jessie is not actually pregnant at that time, it's quite possible that Cori really wanted Jessie and James to have a baby there, but got overruled by canon. If nothing else, it seems as though one of the driving forces of Cori's writing is the notion that Jessie and James would get married and have kids someday, given just how often those topics come up as plot points throughout her writing.
