- Indiana Jones and his companion are locked in the trunk of a car by their Russian kidnappers in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. This is actualy the first scene in the movie.
- In The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Sarah is tied up in the backseat of a car being driven by Cromartie. When she frees her feet and jumps out, he simply stops, picks her up and throws her in the trunk.
- In one episode of Family Guy, Stewie falls in love with his babysitter but then finds out she has a boyfriend. Furious, he ties up the boyfriend and leaves him in the trunk of Brian's car, then forgets all about him until two weeks later, realizing he's dead by now.
