JustForFun/TheWikiterrorist

Thuggish vandals who are harder to get rid of than a bad penny

Name Space:
Main
Page Type:
Trope
May Need A Better Description.

There are vandals, and then there are these.

Wikiterrorists are the worst kind of scum we have to deal with around here. They're mean. They're nasty. And they have more sockpuppets than you can drop a mountain on. At times, dealing with them requires us to play a lightning round of Whack A Mole. And most importantly, they're vandals with an agenda.

Expect their original account to have already been Google bounced.

No Examples, Please; listing actual Wikiterrorists will only invite more trouble from them, and it'll also inflate their egos.

We don't need this. It'll just churn out more drama.

You seem to have fun making fun of trolls in This Wiki.

^^ Why do you think I didn't name any examples?

^ Actually, it's a term I only coined today in reference to certain recurring vandals who I'm not at liberty to name here. It's not supposed to be a joke term, I simply thought that certain class of vandal should have its own name.

Well, in that case it's just Wiki Vandal, but more persistent.

It'll only serve to make persistent vandals think they're actually doing something rather than wasting everyone's time. You mark my words! </curmudgeon>

I tried to describe this type of crook in a way that makes those of this category look like more than your average everyday vandal. And isn't unleashing numerous sockpuppets in a single rampage something that wastes time? (Case in point: reverting edits, issuing Google bounces, and in some extreme cases sorting through edits to see which ones were legitimate other than the whole "being added by a vandal" thing, assuming the affected page(s) hadn't been locked first.)

This feeds egos: becoming notorious is as good as becoming famous, which means positive reinforcement for "negative" behaviour.

    Discard.

^ That guy (or gal) is right. Plus, I feel that the concept of a trolling, mean troper is covered by This Troper on the Darth Wiki.

^^ Feeding egos is not my intention. All I'm trying to do is find a humorous way to bring up a serious problem.

At the very least, I'm going to put a No Examples Please stamp on this.

^ not your intention and yet it can potentially happen.

    Look before you leap, son.

Of course, that's what I'm trying to avoid. This has been labeled No Examples Please for a reason. Really, I intend for this to be a semi-humorous You Bastard aimed at them. As in, "If you're a Wikiterrorist and you think we flatter you with this generic article, you should go see a psychiatrist." Or something like that.

That's not gonna happen. They'll take pride: TV Tropes wrote a page just about me. Seriously not a good idea.

Frankly, I'd like to know some way I can pull this off without them taking pride. Apart from "discard", of course.

What makes this more than just Wiki Vandal but more persistent? Bad enough that we have that very page.

    I agree, this is unnecessary.
