Segway Equals Douche

It's the new visual shorthand! Just like glasses can be used to make people look smart, Segways are used to illustrate that a person is attempting to be trendy, has too much money on their hands, and generally is designed to not be liked by the audience.

Segways are also associated with mall security guards and the like, generally not douchy but not well-respected either. See Paul Blart Mall Cop.

In Season 1 of Weeds, there is a man who rides his Segway around the neighborhood comletely naked each night. Used to imply that he (and by association, the entire town of Agrestic) has too much time and money on his hands.

Maybe I should change the title to "Segways Get No Respected People" or something to accommodate the concept of security guards?

Taken to an extreme in Aria:The Scarlet Ammo where segways are almost always equipped with UZI submachine guns and radio controls.

Doesn't really convey the whole "equals douche" bit, though.

(Western Animation) In an epiode of The Simpsons, Homer goes to jail and acquires lots of luxurious items by becoming a snitch. When the other inmates find out he's a snitch, he tries to flee on a segway.

    • On Family Guy we see a (fictional) clip from Rocky VI where Paulie barges into Rocky & Adrian's bedroom riding a Segway, yelling "Look at what Rocky bought me with his money!" before crashing it into the wall.
    • In the Rocky-based online game Ivan Drago: Justice Enforcer one of the toughest opponents is named Segway Jerkwad.
He is a yuppie riding a Segway vehicle, which he can control and use to roll over Ivan Drago. The only way to stop him is to punch him while he is coming at you. He shows disrespect to the Siberian Bull by talking on a cell phone while attacking. [1]

Definitely needs a new name. How about Segways Are Pretentious? Or Pretentious Segway Rider.

Please read Zero Context Example. You should also never hide the work's name in a pothole in an example.

    • In a Sluggy Freelance story arc, the gang accidentally gets involved with hacker Noah Zark, who is developing "Smegways" to sell to people too lazy to walk. And by that, he means everyone. They are self-stabilized by a computer, and explode if they are tipped over. His Evil Plan involves selling one to everyone, and then killing all humanity by destabilizing them all.
