Exactly that, creator's/crew's version of ensemble darkhorse. Not necessarily hated by the fans or liked by other characters. Has to be confirmed Word of God.

Well, it has to be not hated by fans otherwise you get Creators Pet.

^Can potentially snowball into The Wesley, if the writer grows too attatched to the character and gives them increasingly bigger roles and plot significance.

edit: nevermind. I didn't realize the Trope name had been changed. Still you might wanna include it somewhere in the Trope description.

What's the difference between this and the Creators Pet? Is it just that the favouritism towards the "Pet" is obvious to the point of angering fans, whereas this trope describes subtle favourites? Favourites that we only know because of Wordof God?

@HOAA yeah essentially, I should mention I'm talking about CONFIRMED favorites, not implied ones. An example would Lisa on the simpsons.

I think this should have a name change so it doesn't get confused with Creator's Pet.

Another anime and Manga example: Satoshi Tajiri's (the creator of Pokemon)favorite Pokemon is Poliwirl.

    • Ben Hurst, key writer of Sonic Sat Am admited in an interview that Princess Sally Acorn and Dulcy the Dragon were his two favorite characters. While they have a varied reception with fans, it may explain their fairly large amount of screentime in the second season. Similarly writer Ian Flynn of the Sonic The Hedgehog comic series has stated his fondness of Sally, and similarly has her as a pivotal character in the large majority of his stories.

Right. This one doesn't need a fancy name, or atleast it needs something that seperates it from Creators Pet. Like... hell Admitted Creators Pet will do.
