Alien Race, Human Ruler

After fighting through the hoard of aliens, our hero discovers that their ruler/leader is.... a human.

Perhaps a subtrope of Humanity Is Superior.

Happens in that one Star Trek episode where Kirk and Spock land on the planet run by Nazis, and eventually discover their ruler to be an Earth-human who used his superior Earth knowledge to make them a more efficient race (unfortunately using Nazi methodology, which had unfortunate side effects).

Seems likely it would be related, but it's not just about the leader looking human, but actually being one. (In the Nazi Star Trek episode, all the aliens looked human, but their leader was in fact from Earth.)

Generally it's a good idea to write a description that you think would be ready for the website to use when you propose a trope. You're also going to need more than one example to make this into a trope page. You need at least three for it to be tropeworthy.

^^ That is covered by The Man Behind The Monsters, too.

what dan said; Tropes Are Flexible. Motion to discard. nothing distinct here, apparently.

It's "horde". "Hoard" is what misers do with money.

And it does look like this proposal is essentially the same as The Man Behind The Monsters.

I think you're trying a bit too hard here. If this is something you've only seen once then it might be Too Rare To Trope. Also unless there is an important detail that sets this apart from The Man Behind The Monsters then it's not tropeworthy.

    Here's a possible description:

Emperor Evulz rules over a great empire of insect evil, one which Alice is dedicated her existence to defeating. The emperor sends many an alien monstrosity to attack Alice, all of them capable of wiping out any resistance to his rule with little effort. However, thanks to Alice's leadership, all is never lost. Thanks to her charisma, she and her allies eventually gather enough strength and go on the offensive. And when they come face to face with the emperor, they find...

That he's human. This entire time, the one commanding the army hellbent on taking over all of humanity and eradicating any possible opposition, was itself lead by a member of the race of the people who fought so bitterly against it.

Possibly an ending trope, and most-likely spoilerific simply by mention of a work. One such example comes from Spider Riders, in which the leader of the insect people waging a war against humanity, Lord Mantid, was not only human, but also a human from the surface world like Hunter Steele.

^ Please don't use the first paragraph as it's an Example As A Thesis.

In Battlestar Galactica Classic Baltar is a renegade human who becomes a mid-level Cylon leader.
