For some reason in media, people often terrified of mice. Sometimes, everybody will scream and run at the sight of mice.

The phobia is also known as Musophobia, Murophobia, or Suriphobia. While it is a very common phobia, out of a group, very few people would overreact when seeing a mouse.

Fear of mice in the past used to be played with Double Standard with only women being scared of mice, but this trope emerged as the old idea became a sexist Dead Horse Trope.

Sometimes justified in works (or places, in real life) where The Plague was a serious problem. May involve The Black Death. Supposedly, all elephants are afraid of mice as well as humans. This was tested by Mythbusters, who deemed it plausible.
