Trope
If your first experience of a franchise is through a Camper And Sillier version, it can be hard to take Darker and Edgier versions of it seriously. Needs More Examples

    Who is Adam West?

    I think it's "campier."

There'sno trope for that either. Probably you just want Lighter And Softer. It can work the other way though, with hardcore fans of the Darker And Edgier version.

    Elihu: 'camp' is an adjective.

I Liked It Better When It Sucked covers the "camp" part, at least.

@Koveras: Adam West was the star of the campy 1960s Batman TV series, which is generally reviled by Batman "purists." Trope Namer for Adam Westing.

This should cover parodies as well, not just that other ykttw. Thus some people can't watch Zero Hour without thinking of Airplane.

Also, the name implies who is the true person to play a role.

@halfmillennium: "Camp" is a noun and "campy" is the adjective for of it. Therefore, "campier" is the word you're looking for. Look it up.

Been there, got the Oxford English Dictionary entry to prove it. No-one uses 'campy' in these parts.

Everybody does. Search for "camper" and "campier" on the OED. Only one links back to the correct "camp" definition. Even wiktionary supports.

^ "it can be hard to take Darker And Edgier versions of it seriously" says to me this is more about perception being changed then which is better.

Elihu, I said 'in these parts'. The point is that 'camp' is an adjective.

Honestly, if you don't know who Adam West is, kill yourself.

^ Now, now, lets not be rude. Not everyone has watched the same shows as you have. There Is No Such Thing As Notability on this wiki, after all.

Well... this isn't a trope. At all. Motion to discard.

    ^^ That was a joke.

Have you heard of the "Kill Yourself" meme?
