Motorcycle Assassins

Two assassins riding a motorcycle kill someone driving in a car.

Name Space:
Page Type:
In many Thai dramas, there is a specific assassin type. Two men on a motorcycle (or more frequently, a scooter or Vespa-type two wheeled device), drive up next to the victim's car. The man riding pillion pulls out a handgun and shoots. Or wields a baseball bat or stick, and swings it at someone's head or an object. Once they complete this, they weave and disappear into the traffic.

I've never seen this in dramas from any other country, and I can't find a trope that already addresses this sort of attack. Thoughts?

    • Split up the title into words.
    • Corrected spelling (Assasins, victims).
    • Changed Laconic to better represent the trope ("Two assassins riding a motorcycle kill someone driving in a car.").
    • Created Examples section.

Subtrope of Gangland Drive By, possibly too narrow to be worth doing?

    ^ Narrow.

OP Shukmeister, could you add those examples you've seen on Thai TV?

    • The New 52: in Batgirl, there were two based on an anime series Barbara watched as a child. They might have been successful in killing someone else while riding motorcycles, but she's Batgirl.

Well, I've heard of IRL news about this kind of murder too, but I guess Gangland Drive By covered it already.

Sometimes these guys like to mow down people who are on foot as well. I recall one druglord in RL who got assassinated that way.

OP Arinve: In Mon Jan Tra, lead girl ducks when a guy on the back of a motorcycle swings a baseball bat at her head but smashes the mirror of a parked car. Later on, the same guys shoot through the passenger side window of a moving vehicle, but the driver turns enough to hit in the shoulder. In Kluen Cheewit, they shoot at the people standing outside during a funeral.

Reading the description for Gangland Drive-by (thank you, London Kd S), it appears that it is already covered. I'm going to nuke this idea.
