Disturbing, Recurring Past

Just like when I worked down at the farm, de-squishing chickens!

Name Space:
Page Type:
Usually played up for comedy, it's the moment when our hero finds himself doing something absurd, confusing, or just plain disturbing - and either excitedly or resigned says "Oh, just like old times".

I've seen this before, but I can't think of any concrete examples. I wanna say there was a show (or movie, or book...) where one character is doing something disturbingly sexual, like something that's taboo, when another character walks in and remarks "God, this reminds me of my childhood."

    • Fight Club has a line where a woman says "I haven't been fucked like that since grade school".

On News Radio Bill would often reminisce fondly on what appears to listeners as a very abusive childhood. "Good times, good times."

Phoebe from Friends had a lot of such lines.

The description is a little unclear, but this might be Oh No Not Again:

A simple comedy dialogue trick is to have something bizarre happen, and then have someone say "not again", implying it's happened before. The actual phrasing can vary.... A variation is to have the character say something along the lines of "This is just like X all over again," where X is something typically ordinary, such as prom, or graduation.

^ Oh No Not Again implies that it sucks. Limit this to positive, but disturbing, examples?

Woodhouse on Archer does this from time to time. In "Killing Utne", he comments that the Zambini tribe in Africa called human meat "long pig. *beat* I never cared for it personally."

    Title doesn't convey the trope.

Uhh..Just Like The Good Old Squick? Sicko Nostalgia Moment?

I think Danny De Vito's character does this on Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia pretty often, but I don't have any examples.

So this was discarded? I saw potential, too bad.

Not sure if this is exactly the same thing, but it would overlap with Hilariously Abusive Childhood. The News Radio example is used for that trope.
