Special Odd Hand

Uncommon-Special-Mysterious Hand

Name Space:
Main
Page Type:
Trope
Sometimes, the character will wake up and find out that there's something odd with his right hand or the entire arm, or that a mark just appeared over it's palm.

Either way, the character's right hand (or left) has a mysterious and strange power, it can do things that makes him unique from the rest of the cast, or it has a some unknown important purpose.

Some characters developed it's own version via technology. There can be some cases that the power is granted by God or the Evil.

See also Evil Hand when the character gets a transplanted Evil hand (or limb)

Examples in Anime and Manga:

To Aru Majutsu no Index

Kamijou Touma whose right hand, the Imagine Breaker, has the ability to negate any supernatural powers, including the effects of psychic, magic, and divine powers.

Yumekui Merry

Yumeji Fujiwara, also has the ability in daydreams to create weapons or replicate abilities he has seen with his right hand.

Guilty Crown

Shu Ouma the main character, whose right hand holds a special power called the Power of Kings.

Examples in Video Games:

Megaman Zero 4

Zero has the "Z Knuckle", a weapon chip implanted in Zero's hand that allows him to steal the enemy's weapon and use it as his own.

God Hand

Gene's right hand is one of the legendary God Hands he receives from Olivia.

Examples in Comic Books:

The titular Claw The Unconquered.

Examples in Film:

Wikus, in District 9, undergoes a startling transformation and gains the ability to manipulate alien technology

You might want to take a look at Red Right Hand. I think there's going to be some overlap.

Sounds like Red Right Hand to me (which doesn't necessarily have to be the right hand, it could be the let)

Hmm...well i think Red Right Hand talks about only the change of the physical appearance and it doesn't only apply to the hands.

In Special Odd Hand,it only applies to the arm or hand (left or right) that grants the character a special abilitie, and it doesn't have to change the physical appearance or to be Evil.

I prefer to explain it with some examples:

Special Odd Hand: The main character has the mysterious power or abilitie in his right hand/arm (may develop via Technology) that if he touches something inorganic only with his right hand, that inorganic thing will turn into pure gold.

Red Right Hand: a character is possesed by a demon or something evil that affects him in a way his psychal appearance (red eye, some scar on the face, his entire arm may turn red).

Evil Hand: the character gets a transplanted limb or possessed by something evil that may or not grant the bearer additional powers/abilities but has a mind of its own it will try to take over its new owner or do bad things.

    is it right?

P.D: Sorry if my English is not that good, i don't know how to explain it
