Urban Warfare

Name Space:
Page Type:
Where you can tell a woman to Stay in the Kitchen, and you aren't being sexist. You need her to provide covering fire.

Basically warfare directly in urban areas. Forget all the rules of "gentlemanly warfare" here. It's all guerrilla tactics here.

Seen in plenty of video games, and unfortunately in the Real Life Middle East.

    • Seen in the first chapter of Metal Gear Solid 4. Depending on your perspective, a few examples in chapters 2 and 3 as well.

Don't quite think this is tropable. It's just a setting.

    Settings are tropable.

The article should include a list of tropes that frequently accompany it.

Not the Ur Example, since this goes back to when cities were first created but the most common cited (or perhaps the modern Ur Example) and the Most Triumphant Example (of something rather not triumphant) would be the fighting in the Soviet cities of Leningrad and Stalingrad during WWII.

They are always cited in any description of the horrors of Urban Warfare. Any military class on the subject always starts with them as examples.

The film Enemy At The Gates shows you some of what it was like in Stalingrad.

One or more of the battles we see at the beginning of Soldier is in an urban area.
