We really don't need Cthulhu in the name if it can apply to a headcrab.

And I'm pretty sure I've seen this trope around before, though I don't feel like looking for it at the moment.

Pet Star-Spawn doesn't have the same ring.

    Cthulhu The Pet?

Anyway, a few Yao Guai (zombie bears that are second to Deathclaws) are tamed in Fallout 3.

Can easily be the pet of the Fluffy Tamer, who would consider such a monster the most adorable thing ever.

Hagrid kept a pet Acromatula as a student, and hasn't really broken out of the habit by the time of the books (and I suspect, never will).

To clarify the Metroid example; She meets the Metroid at the end of Metroid II, having killed off every other metroid on the planet. It hatches, imprints on her as its mother and she can't bring herself to kill it. As a result she takes the hatchling to the labs to be studied. Its kidnapped ('troidnapped? Hatchlingnapped?) by Ridley and the Space Pirates at the beginning of Super Metroid and the main aim of the game is to recover it. It ends up dying in a Heroic Sacrifice to provide your Eleventh Hour Super Power.

Yes, Pet Cthulhu sounds like you're patting Cthulhu on the head.

Actual Cthulhus, or at least god-level monsters, as pets, is Olympus Mons.

Arceus of Pokemon fame. Literally God of the Pokemon universe, and you can catch and use him in battle.

As far as a name, Lovecraft's Petshop?

Some of these are Fluffy The Terrible, but not all of 'em, I suppose.

My Pet Monster is already the name of a show, and my understanding is we're trying to phase out that kind of naming. Would've been good, though.

Example: In Superman: The Animated Series, Bizarro gets a horrifying three-mouthed beast as a pet, which bites him constantly. Of course, being an imperfect clone of Superman, it can't hurt him, and he treats the monster like a dog (even calls it "Krypto").

Fluffy from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

Would Nibbler from Futurama count? A cute little pet which is a very Big Eater, including eating other animals alive.

    Ninjamuffin
We could call it Pet Monstrosity.

@ random surfer the fact that everyone thinks nibbler is cute (except when they need to clean up 1000 ton shit) disqualifys him.

    @Ninjamuffin works well enough.

The Slimer? Named after the pet ghost in The Real Ghost Busters?

Fluffy The Terible is a name given to these. Fluffy Tamer is someone who might keep this as a pet.

There's a Marty Feldman sketch in which he visits the vet with a large creature in a basket. Of course it ends up eating everyone and their pets in the waiting room.
