Power Mote Circuits

Unless we already have this one, in which case not

Name Space:
Main
Page Type:
Trope
You can tell something from the sci-fi zone is really powerful because little glowy dots rush around in circuit like veins all over it. Can be a person or a piece of ultra-high tech. Possible both. These motes of light tend to gravitate to areas like the chest, head, or a Wave Motion Gun.

Subtrope of Power Glows. Related to and sometimes shown alongside Tron Lines or Volcanic Veins Compare and contrast Vein-O-Vision and Instant Runes.

Examples:

Computer and Video Games

Television
  • Chuck features two rare live-action examples: a super laptop and a data-transfer device.

Needs a better title, as this one makes it sound like Vein O Vision and related tropes rather than anything to do with circuitry. Or it could just be a Tron Lines variant.

    • Buffy The Vampire Slayer: season 6, Willow was on a quest for Justice. Joss Whedon wanted the Audience to hate Willow, so he gave her glowing veins.

It's not Volcanic Veins. Have a look at the ZOE video

I wish people would read the descriptions instead of just taking one look at the title and laconic.

@ Trotz. Sorry, black veins aren't this. Unless she had motes of light under her skin it's something else.

Subtrope to Power Glows, I think. Or at least related.

@Andygal Volcanic Veins is organic. Consider this, ahem, the electronic analog.

This doesn't really distinguish, so much, it's more about little dots of light moving around in circuit-like shapes. Have a look at this from about the 39 second mark onward It's the movement and circuit look primarily.

I'll add Instant Runes, but I think it may be a bit tangential.

We really need some more examples. Does Halo do this?

I'm sure this is a lot more common than this, I've seen it loads of times.

Darksteel, an indestructible metal from Magic: the Gathering has golden motes orbiting it.

Hmm, I'd have to see a picture.... do you mean orbiting as in in the air?
