Jayne: Captain, can you stop her from bein' cheerful, please?
Mal: I don't believe there is a power in the 'verse that can stop Kaylee from being cheerful.
Sometimes you just -wanna duct tape her mouth and dump her in the hold for a month.
Kaylee: I love my captain.

Not just incredibly cute but Friend to All Living Things aswell

The Cutie is a character that is known for being sweet and lovable, more comic relief than anything, who likes nothing more than to pet little puppies. They make you adore them, root for them and love them.

They are known for being very idealistic, cute and innocent. Some of them even may act in a child like manner to emphasize their innocence with an upbeat and positive actitude. They also tend to be genuinely nice, loving caring and kind to whoever is with them. They tend to take the most peaceful solution to a conflict and hardly ever (if ever) harm others in any way.

Their innocence and purity draws the sympathy of the audience for them. For this reason they tend to become The Woobie When something bad happens to them.

Examples

Anime and Manga

  • Azumanga Daioh's Chiyo Mihama is this in spades. So much so, that she seems to exist for the sole purpose of having everyone fawn over her. Not that we can blame them, since calling Chiyo "cute" amounts to calling the ocean big.

  • Momo Hinamori from Bleach, sweet, innocent, trusting (to a fault). You can't help but feel for her when things go horribly wrong for her; particulary when she was betrayed by Aizen, who tried to kill her and later, during the FKT arc, he adds insult to injury by duping Hitsugaya into doing it for him.

Live Action Tv
  • Kaylee from Firefly is by far the most cheerful and idealistic character on Serenity's crew. River was also this before her Break the Cutie ordeal, and had the show continued and not been Screwed by the Network, it's practically a given that Joss Whedon would have given Kaylee the works.

    • Momiji of Fruits Basket would be a good example of this trope, I guess

This is meant to replace the current page, since a lot of the examples on there aren't "sweet and lovable characters" as per the definition of this version of The Cutie, but merely "characters who act cute."

    • Kaylee from Firefly is by far the most cheerful and idealistic character on Serenity's crew. River was also this before her Break The Cutie ordeal, and had the show continued and not been Screwed By The Network, it's practically a given that Joss Whedon would have given Kaylee the works.

In fact, probably a good page quote would be:

Jayne: Captain, can you stop her from bein' cheerful, please?
Mal: I don't believe there is a power in the 'verse that can stop Kaylee from being cheerful. Sometimes you just wanna duct tape her mouth and dump her in the hold for a month.
    Kaylee: I love my captain.

Then just discuss a rewrite on the page's discussion area rather than making a whole new YKTTW.

^ It's been decided here by consensus to YKTTW this; please stop discarding it.

^^ trope repair goes in the Trope Repair Shop, not the article's discussion page. If it were on the discussion page, nobody would ever see it. This YKTTW is coming from the Trope Repair Shop.

^ You should pull the examples from the existing article that match this, as Shimaspawn suggested in TRS.

Note to the peanut gallery: the article currently named The Cutie more-or-less describes a woman pretending to be cute. Most of the examples on the page match this, but most of the links to The Cutie assume it's the character from Break The Cutie, Kill The Cutie, etc. For that reason, it was decided to move the existing article to a new name (TBD), and send this to YKTTW for description and examples. That way, the existing links continue to work properly.

Well, given that, I'd say to note that it's the character's nature that they want to hug all the bunnies and so on. I'd actually think of renaming the other one to 'Fake The Cutie' for those who put on an act of innocence; in the Firefly example, Saffron would end up as 'Fake The Cutie'. I'd also park Nermal from Garfield there too.

There will probably be a vote on names for the other trope (Faux Cutie and Fake The Cutie have both been suggested), but it's not really part of this discussion. I agree with hugging bunnies and the pony example. :)
