Redirect He Is My Doctor

No troper's examples just defines the term

Close your eyes and think of Superman, Batman and The doctor from Doctor Who. What versions is the one that you saw in your mind?. In your life you have probably seen many versions of this characters. You have seen them been Darker and Edgier, Softer And Lighter or simply different.

However from all the versions of the character there is one that you fell in love with, the one that in your opinion is the defintive version of the character, the one that comes to your mind whenever the character is mentioned. This trope applies when someone has a favorite version of a character that has many versions.

This trope influences a lot creators that later become Promoted Fanboys as they often gush and even take elements from versions of characters they liked. Usually this favorite version of the character will be the inspiration of a later version of the character.

Not to be confused with My Real Daddy. That one is when you only know one version of the character. This trope refers when you know many versions of the character and you stick to one as "the definitive versions"

No troper's examples. Only put examples when they have any direct influence towards a work creation/production or an important portion of the fandom has this opinion.

Manga and Anime
  • Touhou being more fanon than canon, there are many mutually contradictory versions of characters (not quite one for every fanfic/doujin, but pretty close)..
Live Action Tv
  • Dr Who
    • Acording to David Tennant the fifth doctor is his favorite and definitive version of The doctor. So much in fact that he inspired a lot of mannerism that the tenth doctor had.
    • The eleventh doctor was mainly inspired from the second doctor.

Table Top Games
  • Touhou being more fanon than canon, there are many mutually contradictory versions of characters (not quite one for every fanfic/doujin, but pretty close).
