Is This Tropable? When a character consoles themselves with "At least X still likes me" or some variation. This is often
a cue for whatever they mentioned to leave them or be destroyed.
Examples:
- In Yu-Gi-Oh The Abridged Series, after Yugi and the others leave Mako Tsunami (and call him a "freaky fishguy"), Mako comments, "At least the ocean will never leave me. Right, Ocean?"
- In the literal music video of Biz Markie's "Just a Friend,"
after being brushed off by his lady for another man, he's shown by a pond with some geese, and comments, "At least the geese like me." And later, at the end of the song, "I may be sad, but I still have my moon pies."
- In episode 11 of Naruto The Abridged Series, after being put down by Kakashi, Sakura comments, "At least I still have my fans." Sasuke immediately interjects "What fans?"
- And in episode 13, after being ignored by all the other characters, Kabuto consoles himself with, "At least Orochimaru still loves me." Cut to Orochimaru saying, "You're creepy, go away."
