We all know the composition of the Earth. There's the crust of solid rock, a mantle of magma, an outer core of molten iron, and an inner core of crystallized iron.

In fiction, the core of the Earth may have any number of weird and wonderful surprises, ranging from lost cavern gardens to ancient superweapons.

Anime & Manga
  • In Spider Riders, the inside of the Earth is a vast void, with gravity reversing to hold stuff to the inside and the iron core acting as a permanent, non-setting "sun", effectively making the Earth into a tiny Dyson Sphere. Inside is an omnipresent jungle climate, mostly inhabited by giant bugs.
