Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you walk into an open sewer and die.

Describe Comedy here.

Well geez, you don't want much, do you?

Comedy is an elusive and fast-moving target to define. There's an entire field for trying to discover "Humor Theory", trying to find out what makes funny tick. General public consensus is that humor comes from the unexpected, but this theory is still flawed. One thing's for sure: comedy is funny.

Comedy, as something primarily happy, is directly opposed to Tragedy, but not so much Drama. And has been since the day it was conceived as a term, albeit not like we know today — comedy was a play with a happy ending, Tragedy was a play that had a sad ending. Propelled off of Rule of Funny, comedy infects all art forms. Its hobbies include satires, parodies, pastiches, playing for laughs, snarking, and long walks on the beach.

I would write more here, but with such a ubiquitous trope, I'm sure I can just sit back and let the Wiki Magic work for me. So, I'm going to go a step beyond Rolling Updates and just say it's open editing season on this trope. Get 'em, tiger!

Any moment now.

(NOTE: Because comedy is so ubiquitous, add only the big names.)

Note that all of the examples are from English-speaking countries. This isn't Small Reference Pools; rather, it's actually like that.
