In Real Life, most cryptozoologists believe that cryptids are just normal animals that happen to have evaded the eyes of science thus far. In fiction, however, they are often given paranormal attributes or abilities, such as telepathy.

There's no such thing as a real-life cryptozoologist--or, to be more precise, it's just a term that anyone can use about themselves. Among those, even those who have some acceptance in the cryptid b'leever community, who use the term, many believe that various cryptids do indeed have various magical powers, including telepathy and teleportation. Cryptid investigators and paranormal investigators frequently overlap. (I think cryptid investigator is a much better term, as it doesn't give a fake sciencey flavor to the woo.)

    • In a couple of episodes of The Six Million Dollar Man, Bigfoot turned out to be a bionic/cyborg servant of aliens hiding out in the Northwest.
    • Doctor Who: most of the Yetis are really alien robots; there are a few real Yetis.
      • Also, the Loch Ness Monster is a cyborg creature serving the Zygons.
    • The Yeti is also frequently combined with the legend of Shambhala, the mystic city supposedly hidden in the Himalayas.

On Bewitched the Loch Ness Monster is really a witch who has been transformed into the monster.

The X Files has several examples of this trope. Baby Secret Of The Lost Legend is a clear aversion to this trope.

El Chupacabra appears in an episode of Jackie Chan Adventures. Being bitten by one leads to a curse that turns the victim in a Chupacabra.
