%% * AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: How some fans interpret Kanon's unwillingness to [[spoiler: finish off Ashley]].
* AwesomeEgo: Marivel is the last of the Crimson Nobles, loves to flaunt her knowledge of ancient (and superior) technology, calls herself the true ruler of Filgaia, and claims she's all the party needs for victory. All of the above make her an absolutely hilarious and awesome character.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic:
** A few, but absolutely none moreso than the final battle vs. [[spoiler: Lord Blazer]], which is a ThemeMusicPowerUp on an epic scale.
** The first opening [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JfCYgxrQ_M "You'll Never Be Alone Wherever You Go"]]is really awesome too. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zhWmDrF3Ew Original Japanese vocal version]], and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGEmzYDdJNo Full Japanese version]] are also worth checking.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvVk0L5lpZY Knightblazer]]. [[ThemeMusicPowerUp That]] [[SecondHourSuperpower is all.]]
* CommonKnowledge: Brad Evans is not homosexual. The HoYay implications between him and his brother-in-arms, Billy, are result of a BlindIdiotTranslation. The only gay character in the game is Caina, whose gender was changed to female in the overseas version to avoid controversy.
* CompleteMonster: [[PsychoForHire Judecca Ducet]] is the {{sadist}}ic assassin and marksman of the terrorist group Odessa. A mercenary recruited by [[WellIntentionedExtremist Vinsfeld Rhadamanthus]] as a member of Cocytus, Judecca is tasked with the dirtiest deeds of the group, using methods [[EvenEvilHasStandards even his comrades found despicable]]. Taking the town of Halmetz, Judecca has the town's populace imprisoned to torture for fun; uses them to capture ARMS; crucifies Lilka and Brad; and brutally beats Ashley, before attempting to bomb their main base. After his first defeat, Judecca blows up Holst and [[FrameUp frames ARMS for it]], uncaring of any civilian deaths. When finally defeated in his Diablo Pillar, Judecca shows no remorse for monstrous actions, cackling that his only regret was he couldn't see the end of the world.
* DemonicSpiders:
** Hyulkontons. 60,000 HP, at attack which inflicts multiple status ailments to your entire party, and a couple of hefty physical attacks. And guess what: They're level ''one''. Bonus points for being a possible encounter in the first dungeon! A bit of a GuideDangIt, but they're worth the most basic EXP in the game.
** Leprechauns. Not only do they ''prevent you from using your [=ARMs=]'', but they're level 44 in an area where you'd be lucky to be level 20. To add insult to injury, they have a Confusion ability that targets all party members at once. Sure hope you spent your FP on Up Hp and Confusion protection or you're in for one heck of a fight.
* DieForOurShip: Marina receive this treatment from fans, who rather see Ashley paired with someone else.
* FanNickname: Because she [[NoNameGiven lacks any official name]], some refer to Lilka's sister as Riruka. This was Lilka's name in the original Japanese.
* FanPreferredCouple: While Ashley ends up with [[VictoriousChildhoodFriend Marina]] in canon, many fans, especially in Japan, would much rather see him with Lilika instead.
* GameBreaker:
** Provided you complete a certain sidequest on the second disk, you can locate a hidden vending area called the Black Market. If you can find it, you can buy as many Heal Berries, Big Berries, and Mini Carrots from it as you can carry. It's the only place in the game that allows you to do so.
** Marivel's so-called [[UselessUsefulSpell Useless Useful Spells]] are this, provided you know how they work and [[GuideDangIt where are those spells.]] Sleep works on [[{{Superboss}} Ragu O Ragula]] and Canceller works on Angolmois.
** Don't forget the GameBreaker that's handed to you on a silver platter: Knightblazer. A tremendous boost to all of Ashley's stats and absurdly powerful attacks. Transforming into Knightblazer is basically the game's "I win" button.
* GoodBadTranslation: All of Liz's dialogue. Already a comic relief character and one half of the game's GoldfishPoopGang, his "poetic" Japanese dialogue was translated literally. The result is both [[TranslationTrainWreck incomprehensible]] and hilarious.
* IronWoobie: The more you learn about her history, the more obvious it becomes that the Sword Magess was one. When the Blaze of Destruction devastated Filgaia long ago, she was the only one who could stand up to the sheer existential despair the event inflicted on the world. [[spoiler:Not because she had a surpassingly pure and heroic heart, but because she just wanted that badly to ''have a life'' - to spend time with friends and learn things and enjoy new foods and have a family and... everything. She wasn't trying to save the world, she was trying to save herself and the world came in the balance. As she gets to tell Ashley personally at the beginning of disc 2.]]
* MagnificentBastard: [[spoiler:[[WellIntentionedExtremist Commander Irving Valeria]], leader of ARMS, is [[HeroicLineage a descendant of the Sword Magess' bloodline]]. However, he was unable to wield the legendary Argetlahm to stop the encroaching [[EldritchAbomination Kuiper Belt]] from consuming the world, and instead decided to rely on his intellect to save all of Filgaia. He funds the terrorist organization Odessa and has them try to TakeOverTheWorld, while also creating ARMS to oppose them and inspire unity among world leaders, ensuring that the nations of the world [[XanatosGambit would be united regardless of who wins]]. After Odessa's defeat, Irving used his newfound authority to try executing a plan to stop the emerging Kuiper Belt. When the plan fails, Irving moves to his final contingency: [[HeroicSacrifice he and his sister sacrificing themselves]] to give the Kuiper Belt a physical form that can be killed by ARMS. He explains the truth to Ashley in his final moments, only regretting that he won't be able to see the world's future. An extremely impressive schemer, Irving is willing to do anything to fulfill his bloodline's destiny and save the world.]]
* NotBadassEnoughForFans: Marina gets backlash from fans due to her angst about being "weak" and her constant flip-flopping between wanting Ashley's attention yet not wanting to be a burden for him.
* NightmareFuel: From people being turned into demons, to the entire plot twist of a [[spoiler:''[[EldritchAbomination living parallel dimension]]'' coming to destroy Filgaia]], the game is rife with some pretty creepy stuff every so often.
* StrangledByTheRedString: During a sequence where characters are being formally paired up with love interests or friends, Marivel and Tony share a scene which starts as her playing along with his childish crush, but ends with her expressing some genuine interest in him. The two characters interact rarely, if ever, for the entire rest of the game and their entire relationship can be summed up as "Vampires are awesome!" on Tony's end.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: Some of the boss battles sound like the main theme to ''The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.''
* TearJerker: When Ashley doesn't return from Heimdal Gazzo at the end of Disc 1, Lilka breaks down crying, saying, "We all made a promise that we'd return home together! Why is there always one person who breaks that promise...?"
* ThatOneBoss: Kanon, especially the latter two times you fight her, where Brad is unavailable and thus you don't really have anyone to soak up damage. Belleclaire, the halfway-point monster of Ptolomea's Diablo Pillar, is also highly capable of stopping games cold with its incredibly powerful attacks.
* ThatOnePuzzle: The first puzzle in the final dungeon confounded players for a decent amount of time. Seems not everyone knows how the days of the weeks got their names or figured out that is what the clues are referencing.
