* AdaptationDisplacement: The ''U.S. Acres'' shorts on ''Garfield and Friends'' are far more well-known than the strip itself. It's not hard to find people who think that it was invented for the show and didn't know it was a comic.
* BrokenBase: Some fans like the comic strip's dumb Bo more because they thought he was funnier while others love the cartoon's "surfer" Bo more because he had more depth and was more of a GeniusDitz than dumb.
* CantUnhearIt: In later strips, it seems Bo was written with the surfer accent he had on the show.
* DesignatedMonkey: Comic strip version Wade Duck only existing as a senseless ChewToy and getting hurt the most out of anybody "for the lulz" (he wasn't such a pointless ChewToy in most of ''WesternAnimation/GarfieldAndFriends''). It's much funnier when Wade just gets scared.
* {{Fanon}}: Many fans believe that ''U.S. Acres'' takes place in the same universe as ''Garfield'', and that the farm is that of the Arbuckle family. [[https://www.gocomics.com/garfield/2001/04/22 The Earth Day 2001]] ''Garfield'' strip is particularly convincing evidence (Booker, Roy and Orson are present).
** Plus two characters who look exactly like a discolored Cody and Blue.
** A book of some ''Garfield'' Christmas stories actually proved that ''U.S. Acres'' and ''Garfield'' do indeed live in the same world, though the farm on which Orson and the gang live is actually next door to the Arbuckle family's.
** Also contributing to this is that the first part was canon in ''WesternAnimation/GarfieldAndFriends''.
** Plus Garfield had a cameo in the episode "Mystery Guest."
* HilariousInHindsight: Several moments in the strips have been made this due to various episodes of ''WesternAnimation/GarfieldAndFriends''.
** There was one where Roy told Wade not to eat an apple. [[ShoutOut Wade asks]] [[Literature/SnowWhite if the apple was poison]], but Roy said that it was his snack. A ''U.S. Acres'' two-part segment of ''Friends'' featured the gang acts out Snow White, putting Wade in the titular role.
*** Also in one comic [[https://garfield.com/usacres/1988/05/11 Wade wanted to know if Goldilocks meets a prince in the storybook]]...guess who Snow Wade meets in the said two parter?
** In the storybook "A Most Special Easter Egg", published in 1989, Booker's outfit is a green vest with blue bowtie. Aloysius Pig would join ''Garfield and Friends'' 5 years later, and he wears the same outfit.
** [[http://garfield.com/us-acres/1987-07-09 In this strip, Sheldon hoped to be a turtle.]] In the episode "Scrambled Eggs", he's mistaken for one.
** In a case not related to the animated adaptation, [[https://garfield.com/usacres/1987/07/11 a worm sings "Shooby Dooby Doo"]] to tease Sheldon. One episode of ''WesternAnimation/WhatsNewScoobyDoo'' features a dog named Shooby and snacks known as "Shooby Snacks".
** ''U.S. Acres'' wouldn't be [[ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogIDW the last form of media]] to have a female sheep character named Lanolin.
* JerkassWoobie: Roy may be a mean and sadistic prankster but with all the abuse he goes through even when he doesn't deserve it, you can feel sorry for him.
* {{Starboarding}}: Sheldon was hinted to like Blue, but she was removed from the comic before any sort of developments could occur.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Before you got to see all the strips of the comic, if you're more familiar with the cartoon version and seen [[https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/garfield/images/2/2a/Usa1988-03-07.gif/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/600?cb=20200307181140 this strip]], (partially if you first saw it in platypuscomix page) you would've thought they made an arc about Roy and Wade's friendship, and developing a closer relationship (it would've been much more interesting than running gag signs). But no, nada. Nothing becomes of it beyond that strip. At least they didn't waste it [[VitriolicBestBuds in the cartoon.]]
* ToughActToFollow: There’s a reason it didn’t become as popular or well-known as ''Garfield''.
* ViewerGenderConfusion:
** Orson had long, feminine eyelashes in the first half of the strip's run and Booker called him "Mom", due to the fact that he sat on Booker and Sheldon's eggs before they hatched. This was to represent that Orson was a piglet, like how Nermal has eyelashes to look like a kitten.
** Bo is mistaken for female by [=GoComics=] readers, even though it's obvious he looks like a guy, especially compared to his sister.
