* {{Anvilicious}}: In the scenes between the credits of the final episode, Big Mac soapboxes about how it's fine to take pride in something you like, but shoving it down other peoples' throats is overbearing and problematic. In the context of the episode, he's referring to the Judge's behavior outside the courtroom, but it's also a shot at the more overzealous members of the brony community.
* ArchivePanic: There are six videos in the series. Said six videos roughly total up to ''nine'' hours long.
%% Example commented out after the discussion thread.
%% AssPull: The mystery witness in ''Part 4'' turns out to be [[spoiler: [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E5GriffonTheBrushOff Gilda]]]], a character who's never appeared and was only mentioned once, very indirectly, by Twilight. While it's not such a big deal, due to how well-written and well-executed the scene is, it is much more understandable for those who watched the ''Friendship is Magic'' episode.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic:
** The main reason why this stopped being a written work was so this could be used. Understandable, considering [[AwesomeMusic/AceAttorney what both series]] [[AwesomeMusic/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic have to offer]]. ''Part 1'' only used ''Ace Attorney'' soundtrack, and the following episodes added ''Friendship Is Magic'' soundtrack and original tracks to the mix.
** Some of the original songs are pretty amazing on their own right: ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jy45UsmDO7o Crusading!]]'' fits Apple Bloom perfectly, ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HrPxumuUY4 Denial]]'' and ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyQwZob0Ark Memories]]'' ''will'' make you incredibly sad, and ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfU12WyWQ0Y Towards the Truth]]'' does a great job at capturing the essence of ''Ace Attorney's'' iconic ''Pursuit'' themes.
*** Several of these songs got [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=am8XucdLuZs revamped]] for the FanSequel ''My Little Ace Attorney: Elements of Justice''. The fuller instrumentation compounds the awesomeness.
** ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IS-i9Psu7gU End of the Storm]]'' is a somewhat upbeat and melancholic medley between ''Friendship is Magic's'' main theme, ''Turnabout Sisters'' from ''Ace Attorney'', and the original theme ''Memories''. It greatly captures the sense of finality of the crossover's conclusion.
** The final piece of testimony, wherein [[spoiler:Phoenix is trying to save Sonata as well by demonstrating that Ace Swift brought his death upon himself]], makes absolutely ''amazing'' use of ''[[https://youtu.be/pucxhTspFrQ Confrontation ~ Presto]]'' from ''VisualNovel/AceAttorneyInvestigationsMilesEdgeworth''
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The ''Fanfic/CupcakesSergeantSprinkles'' reference, triggered by a discussion about ladders of all things!
%%
%%Do not re-add Complete Monster unless you get the cleanup threads okay first. Please mind that his case was discussed and that he wasn't considered as a Complete Monster.
%%
* GatewaySeries: A variation, at least; this series has, on more than one occasion, made [[PeripheryDemographic bro]][[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic nies]] out of ''Franchise/AceAttorney'' fans, as well as ''Ace Attorney'' fans out of bronies.
* HarsherInHindsight:
** The trailer where Phoenix Wright intimidates Fluttershy gets a little less funny when... well, just read below and you'll see.
** Phoenix's line ''"A scolding? From him ''[Big Macintosh]''? What did he do, 'Eeyup' her into submission?"'' is either this or HilariousInHindsight after "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E23PonyvilleConfidential Ponyville Confidential]]".
** After the [[{{Shapeshifting}} Changelings]] were introduced in "A [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E25ACanterlotWeddingPart1 Canterlot]] [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E26ACanterlotWeddingPart2 Wedding]]", Pinkie's "Wob Niar" theory feels a lot more plausible.
** Also on the EvilTwin theory, "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E5MagicDuel Magic Duel]]", which incidently also features Trixie, involved Rainbow Dash being cloned [[spoiler:(though it was just Fluttershy in disguise)]].
** The motive behind Pinkie telling Phoenix to not mention Ms. Mailmare's name in ''Part 3 - Phoenix'' was because of [[IHaveManyNames the little conflict that would arise]], which was shown in ''Part 3 - Twilight''. Unfortunately, without the latter's context, it was seen as an allusion to the unfortunate "Derpygate" conflict, where the issue of her name and original voice being removed from later broadcasts of the [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E14TheLastRoundup only episode she spoke in]] caused great conflict within the fandom. In reality, the gag was written and recorded before the conflict occurred.
** Guess Rainbow Dash doesn't need that prize after all since she entered the Wonderbolt Academy.
** In "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E12GamesPoniesPlay Games Ponies Play]]", Rarity messes up Cadence's hairstyle, and tells Twilight with horror "Imagine her hair looking like a porcupine!" Jury's still out on her opinion of it on males, much less male humans, though.
** The exact meaning of the black Psyche-locks hadn't fully been established when they debuted in Apollo Justice, and had in fact been theorized to be unbreakable, but Twilight mentions not ''wanting'' to break them. Come ''Dual Destinies'', they're very much breakable and every bit as tragic as implied here.
** They considered the human (read: [[KangarooCourt Ace Attorney universe]]) justice system to be the pinnacle of justice in the universe. That's either hilarious or terrifying, depending on the context. Then ''[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicIDWIssue25To26 The Good, The Bad, and the Ponies]]'' comes out. The ''Franchise/AceAttorney'' justice system really ''is'' a step up.
* HeartwarmingInHindsight:
** Twilight [[spoiler: reassuring Cruise that his little sister would look up to him, and calling him a "good big brother"]] becomes this after ''A Canterlot Wedding'' revealed that [[spoiler:she has a loving big brother herself]]. (The script was written long before this, but wasn't released until long after.)
** Season 3 has had [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E5MagicDuel several]] [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E11KeepCalmAndFlutterOn episodes]], focused on redeeming past antagonists. [[spoiler: This series does a similar thing with Gilda]], something that's become all the more heartwarming after [[spoiler: [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS5E8TheLostTreasureOfGriffonstone The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone]] actually did see Rainbow and Gilda mend their friendship.]]
* HilariousInHindsight:
** Twilight responds to Lenora's comparison of Pegasus ponies and griffons with the line, "I never said I was faster. I don't even really care, either. Did you notice the horn protruding from my forehead or [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E13MagicalMysteryCure my lack of wings?]]"
** In the finale, [[spoiler: Rainbow Dash has a hard time forgiving Sonata for what she put her through. [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirls Guess easily forgiving people is more of a human world thing]]]].
*** What makes it funnier is that [[spoiler:Rainbow Dash makes a similar remark in the IDW comics regarding an EasilyForgiven villain... only for Twilight to rebuff with what would eventually become a [[MemeticMutation memetic line]]]].
*** And the hilarity goes even further when [[spoiler:ponies were willing to forgive a pony who did something ''[[MakeWrongWhatOnceWentRight worse]]'' than what Sonata [[AccidentalMurder did]], including Trixie]].
** Season 4 of ''Friendship is Magic'' has a story arc about opening locks.
** The ending of ''Turnabout Storm'' is crazily similar to [[spoiler:the ending of the bonus case, ''Turnabout Reclaimed'', for ''[[VisualNovel/PhoenixWrightAceAttorneyDualDestinies Dual Destinies]]''. The culprit has finally been caught and the Judge is about to hand down the Not Guilty verdict, only for Phoenix himself to stop said verdict so he can show that not even the culprit was a murderer, that the whole thing was actually an accident]].
*** Phoenix's comment about his past dealings with unprofessionalism involving toupees, birds, and whips. While the reference to birds was obviously meant to refer to the time he had to cross-examine a parrot, he would later have to deal with a prosecutor who used a hawk to attack him, meaning all three of the things he listed are now ''things he's been hit in the face with''.
** The punishment for murder in this series, "Banishment to the moon (or the sun)", ''actually comes up'' in ''VisualNovel/PhoenixWrightAceAttorneyDualDestinies'', when the defendant of case four (an astronaut) glumly tells the judge to banish him to the moon.
** [[spoiler: Sonata taunting Phoenix with "You'll find it hard defending your client from a prison cell". Later on we get [[VisualNovel/PhoenixWrightAceAttorneyDualDestinies Simon Blackquill]], an actual lawyer that ''is'' a convicted felon, albeit a prosecutor.]]
** The beginning of the trial is crazily similar to the beginning of the first Witch Trial in ''[[VideoGame/ProfessorLaytonVsAceAttorney Professor Layton Vs Ace Attorney]]'', with Phoenix having to defend someone accused of commiting a crime with magic, in a world where magic exists, and completely stumbling until the {{Deuteragonist}} gives him a book on how magic works in this world. It even has almost the exact same gag of Phoenix pointing out something that should be common sense in his world and being met with StunnedSilence from the entire courtroom.
** And while we're on the subject of said crossover, Twilight's book of "How to Become a Lawyer in 24 hours" is full of fantastic FloweryElizabethanEnglish, easily on par with that of Inquisitor Zacharias Barnham.
--->'''Twilight:''' Consult with thy accused in melancholy, lifting wisdom from thy plea of innocence.
** ''Rainbow Rocks'' features a character named Sonata, who is ''very'' different from the one here.
** In ''Part 3 - Phoenix'', Rainbow temporarily adopts Fluttershy's manestyle while mocking her. [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS5E8TheLostTreasureOfGriffonstone Come Season 5, and we get another instance where Rainbow Dash uses another character's manestyle while mocking them.]] Then Season 6 came and [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS6E7NewbieDash had her copy all of the other five - yes, including Fluttershy.]]
** The entire series is basically this with the episode [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS5E16RarityInvestigates "Rarity Investigates!"]], where Rainbow Dash has been accused of a crime she did not commit. The culprit is even pretty similar.
** Trixie calls Rainbow "Rainbow Trash" throughout. In Season 6 it's revealed that her actual EmbarrassingNickname "Rainbow Crash" came from crashing into a garbage can, and Pinkie even notes that she was lucky to not end up with Trixie's version.
* JerkassWoobie:
** Trixie. [[spoiler: Her black psyche-locks are described to be full of sadness and despair, evidently caused in part by an inferiority complex present since her childhood, which she hides behind her trademark boastful personality. She also shows to have a true passion for her work as a magician, doing her shows free of charge despite needing the money, and even smiling at the idea of performing in front of the ponies she's claimed are her enemies.]]
** Rainbow Dash. Yeah, [[spoiler:taking her anger out on Fluttershy to the point of saying she hated her]] wasn't nice at all, but being set up for murder with the evidence piling against her and facing permanent exile from her friends and home makes it hard to not feel at least a little sorry for her too.
** [[spoiler: Gilda, thanks to the fact that she let her anger get the better of her when all she really wanted was to make amends with her friend.]]
** [[spoiler: Sonata, who just wanted to escape from hurting other ponies, got put through the ringer the second she tried to do the right thing. Ace tried to kill her for quitting, she was forced to fend him off and lost control of her magic, making her believe she was the murderer. That doesn't excuse framing Rainbow Dash for her "crime" -- something she herself admits -- but it's easy to side with Phoenix when he wants to defend her too.]]
* MoralEventHorizon: [[spoiler:Ace Swift crossed it at some point: First off by being willing to threaten somepony's little sister's life just for athletic advantage (which isn't even getting into what he did to all his ''other'' competitors). If not then, he probably crossed it by planning to outright ''murder'' Sonata for just trying to get out of the blackmailing after her guilt got the better of her, then using her "unfortunate death" as a motivation for leaving racing so no one will notice his "drop in performance".]]
* {{Narm}}: [[http://neoartimus.deviantart.com/art/Rainbow-and-Fluttershy-2-Part-5-Spoiler-417281355 Fluttershy and Rainbow's still after the latter breaks into tears]] can break the mood of the moment thanks to its weird positions and wonky perspective.
* NarmCharm: [[spoiler: When Mia and Phoenix state the events that lead to Ace Swift's death together. Narm because it's rather uncalled for (until TheStinger's reveal). Charm because it's still a big turn of events that invokes StunnedSilence on the whole courtroom.]]
* SpoiledByTheFormat:
** One could tell the so called ''Part 4/4'' wasn't the final one when it leaves less than 10 minutes to bring an important witness with an even more important testimony.
** Oh, the final episode! [[spoiler: Phoenix gets Sonata to confess to the murder!]] But there's still an hour and a half of video left...
*** But even after the final verdict is rendered [[spoiler:and it's revealed that Ace's death was an accident]], there's ''still'' another hour left just for epilogue.
* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic:
** Some felt this way about Trixie. She acts incredibly arrogant, condescending, and cruel throughout the entire series, has no qualms about trying to get Rainbow Dash wrongly convicted simply for revenge on Twilight, and repeatedly prioritizes revenge over the truth. She's meant to get a CryForTheDevil in the form of [[spoiler: black Psyche-locks]], but these are [[InformedAttribute never significantly explained or elaborated on]]. Phoenix at times says she's doing certain things for noble purposes, but virtually every last one of these instances is actually explainable by Trixie just serving her own selfish ends. She even savors [[spoiler: Rainbow Dash's (temporary) guilty verdict]], rubbing it in Twilight's face and declaring that she felt on top of the world afterwards. She never once apologizes or shows remorse for what she did, not even when Phoenix [[spoiler: generously helps her out and saves her career]]. The only really decent thing she ever does, [[spoiler: writing a secret, reluctant thank-you note to Phoenix]], came at no cost to herself whatsoever, and as far as she knew, would not be discovered by anyone else.
** We are meant to sympathize with Cheerilee for punishing Scootaloo for skipping school and being nice to Sweetie Belie by taking her out for ice cream. However, she also punishes Applebloom because she missed a day of school by going to testify at the trial. In other words, she punishes Applebloom for doing the right thing and helping out with a murder case. Cheerilee even tells Sweetie Belle that she is getting ice cream as a reward for "staying out of trouble", while Applebloom is [[ImStandingRightHere standing right there]].
* TheWoobie:
** Fluttershy. [[spoiler: Phoenix has to accuse her to stall for time, and later on she gets '''harshly''' chewed out by Rainbow Dash for supposedly betraying her]]. Then again, this ''is'' Fluttershy.
** ''Phoenix''. [[spoiler: He's forced to accuse Fluttershy of murder in order to buy time and hates that he has no other options; gets glared at by Twilight when Gilda curses; has everypony but Rarity make fun of him; gets insulted when he tries to make puns off his name even though Trixie gets Pinkie Pie to laugh by doing the same thing; gets paid a LOT of money for his work in a currency he can't use; and ends up having Maya, Pearl, and Edgeworth thinking he's a weirdo when they see the blackmail pictures of Rainbow Dash that Trixie gave him right before he left.]] The guy just [[TheChewToy can't catch a break]].
** Cruise Control, and by extension [[spoiler:just about everyone affected by Ace Swift's blackmailing]], but especially him, [[spoiler:having been forced into a loser status in order to keep his little sister alive]].
