* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation:
** Bam looks a lot different when you [[spoiler:consider the entire story from Rachel's perspective. She rejected him, left him behind, and asked him not to follow her; he swore to follow her for the rest of her life, and entered the tower that can grant any wish asking it to give him her -- after she rejected him. The words "creepy stalker" feature prominently in most interpretations along these lines.]]
*** Though more recently, it has become clear that Rachel herself . Bam chases her partially for answers, and she never gives him a full explanation. While it may be more of pragmatism and fear of what advantage knowing the truth would give Bam, it's shown that Rachel's feelings are more complicated than that: After the [[spoiler:Hidden Floor, Bam is fully ready to go their separate ways after having had enough of Rachel and only decides to leave her alive after making it clear any further action against him would end in her death, but rather than letting him fully reject her, Rachel instead reveals that she actually hated being left behind by Bam entirely and then tells Bam that she knows what he truly is to ensure Bam continues chasing her.]]
** Jahad and his empire bring up more of this than anyone else combined. Is the empire an autocratic empire state ruled by a god AGodAmI emperor or is it just a tough but fair state which gives opportunity to all residents of the Tower (wherein the disparity we hear about is just the outcome of a meritocracy, and the Regulars who climbed the Tower are aware of the improvements Jahad and the Ten Warriors brought)? Not to mention, many of the abuses of power in the Tower are caused by Regulars of the Ten Great Families, which Rankers are forbidden to interfere with. We also know absolutely nothing about Jahad himself, and the group who claims to have been most wronged by the empire is FUG, whose methods are far worse than anything we have seen committed on screen by a member of Jahad's empire (and which was founded by one of Jahad's allies far before his so-called oppression could begin).
*** Additional information changes this picture: If Garam Jahad's revelations on the Floor of Death are at all accurate, Jahad is confirmed to have done things like tricked his subjects to kill each other to maintain his own power and literally murdered a baby. As of now, it's unclear as to whether or not his more ruthless and cruel actions are done out of him being a WellIntentionedExtremist who's stopping the climb of the Tower from being completed for reasons only he knows but involves the entire Tower and retaining the UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans mindset the God of Guardians described him to have in his youth, only to a far more twisted degree, or if he's become a believer of DystopiaJustifiesTheMeans and just wants everyone to suffer. [[spoiler:Traumerei at least seems to firmly believe that he and the other Great Warriors, including Jahad, do whatever it is they do in order to maintain the balance in the Tower, as he specifically stated that they have agreed to remain hands-off mostly from the people of the Tower in order to focus solely on preserving the Jahad Empire, but considering that he's lost some of his memories, we can't exactly count on him to be trustworthy and he is also known to be completely loyal to Jahad. On the other hand, at least part of Gustang's betrayal is implied due to him believing Jahad doing Dystopia Justifies The Means, with how he bitterly speaks about the way Jahad is enforcing the rules that are forcefully keeping the Great Warriors, and with it, the rest of the Tower, stagnant, and recent chapters shows even before Gustang really had it in him to rebel, he already had a pretty low opinion of how Jahad does things. With the fact that the only two people thus far who have appeared and would know Jahad personally being personally biased, exactly where Jahad falls is still vague at best, with equal amounts of evidences pointing to both]].
*** Another oddity to Jahad's behavior is that despite being the BigBad who orders Bam to be killed, surprisingly he seems to currently actually prefer Bam survive and continue to grow. When he appears at the Hidden Floor, he could have pretty much just obliterated Bam without a trace but instead chose to choke him, as if he was just playing the facade of wanting to kill him. He didn't even crush his neck as he easily could have, and when Eduan's data deletes his hand, he still has his other hand yet he does nothing to stop Bam from escaping. He even states that he will wait for Bam to face him again in the future, further supporting the possibility that Jahad doesn't really want Bam dead or at least not yet. Not to mention that he is indicated to be capable of intervening anytime he likes and hunting Bam down himself, considering Gustang being able to do so, and yet he has as of now yet to appear to impede Bam's progress directly. [[spoiler:This becomes even more evident when we see Traumerei and Jahad interact. Jahad had every chance to tell Traumerei to kill Bam quickly, as Traumerei has made it clear he would have done so regardless of his own wishes had Jahad commanded, and yet he allows Traumerei to test Bam and is even willing to give Bam a chance to join the Empire]].
** The Great Family leader, Arie Hon. Was he being a Jerkass to Hoaqin by suggesting that his son will never be able to make something of himself without being a criminal and telling Hoaquin to become a demon, or was it a test, and challenge for Hoaquin, to live under the family, and grow strong enough by developing his own power to one day exceed his father? Hon's GlowingEyes of doom might have meant the former, but the scene happening in the flashback from another character's point of view might skew the scene toward the character interpretation being that of the latter. WordOfGod does state that Hon saw Hoaqin's future, so whether or not he was being CruelToBeKind, telling Hoaqin about what he would become if he held on to the dreams of surpassing him in a way that he thought would disillusion him from wanting that anymore, or if he was actually pushing Hoaqin into that path further, is still uncertain.
*** As of the Last Station, [[spoiler: another flashback from White/Hoaqin reveals it's actually neither and Hon was just being blunt and cold and telling his son what his future would be like, although the surprise is that Hoaqin actually UsedToBeASweetKid interpreted it as the latter. Well almost, Hoaqin interpreted it as leaving the family to the Outer Tower to establish a kingdom of his own, and train his abilities as a TheGoodKing ruler who looks after his subjects, like how Arie Hon is the greatestIn terms of ranking, his virtuous strength is... questionable Family Head out of the Ten Great Families. Arie Hon immediately reveals that what he meant wasn't that and he literally saw the threads of a demon within him, and tells Hoaqin to indulge it and become a soul-eating monster fueled by resentment towards Hon himself, even though he's destined to fail. Yikes. Another interpretation from recent chapters may be that Hon, as stated by a family member of his, doesn't care about his children's lives, apart from helping them grow stronger by aiding in their training, so he simply told Hoaqin what he believed would be his future and didn't bother to care how Hoaqin would take it, as he probably saw telling him what he could become as already being warning enough.]]
** The Great Family Leader Lo Po Bia Traumerei is even more confusing than Arie Hon. His actions are rather contradictory, and his showcases of emotions are rather muddled. He prefers Yasratcha over Wangwang despite Yasratcha being lazy and clearly unloyal while Wangwang was fully dedicated to serving him, and yet after Nen Neya came in, with few years having passed, Traumerei decided to throw his dog a surprising amount of bones by giving him freedom, the time to love, and the best suite room and while he is callous to the disputes of his family, rather than just dismissing Wangwang when he hesitates by making it clear it's an order, he actually appears irritated that Wangwang actually shows hesitation. Later on, despite Yasratcha believing he is trying to get rid of Wangwang by sending him away and the name he gave Baylord as being a mockery, Traumerei's actions directly contradict that. He actually warns Wangwang against trying to rebel against him out of love and even refuses to just get rid of him, stating he wanted to see for himself if Wangwang has lost his loyalty.
*** Notably, rather than just leaving Wangwang's death to Yasratcha, despite having previously trusted him with many matters, he instead appears directly to see if Wangwang really has went rogue and actually seems genuinely furious and bitter when Wangwang seems to ponder attacking him. Is it because he may have wanted Wangwang to remain and actually hoped he would prove him wrong and stay loyal? Was all his callous treatment of him a test to see if he would remain dedicated? And despite his trust in Yasratcha before, it's clear he is not surprised at all that he betrayed him. Did that mean Traumerei simply found Yasratcha to be a pathetic person who he humored because he was amused Yasratcha saw himself as that capable to fool him and wanted to make the crushing blow more shocking when he finally revealed just how aware he was? It was clear that the gate at the Cat Tower was set without Yasratcha's knowledge, meaning Traumerei definitely doesn't trust Yasratcha anymore. But if so, why didn't he just kill Yasratcha? Was it because he spared him because Wangwang pleaded and succeeded in dying the way Traumerei wanted, or was it a CruelMercy? Letting him live but only because he had to kill his friend by his own hands?
*** Later chapters confirm it's the latter. Traumerei specifically has Yasratcha kill Wangwang and outright sneers at him as he "gives freedom" and tells him to enjoy it in a way that unsubtly taunts him.
*** In fact, his repeated mentions of love, great sensitivity to betrayal, and actions can also be confusing. We all know that Arlen and V betrayed Jahad and Traumerei by default, but while it's clear that he is bitter and enraged that his friends betrayed him out of love rather than letting Jahad court Arlen and marry her to preserve peace, his later mentions of obsession mean he may also be talking about Jahad.
* ArcFatigue:
** The Workshop Battle had gone on for over 50+ chapters that people were left wondering if the cast was even trying to climb the Tower anymore.
** The Revolution Road segment, the first part of six, got this feeling from some readers due to its sluggish pacing, especially the portion when Bam first arrived at Train City. The result was the StoryArc on its own being the longest in the whole series so far being about 40 chapters long.
** Season 2's Hell Train saga overall ended up as this among readers due to its immense length. The entirety of the saga lasts for 227 chapters and makes up nearly all of the content for the Season, which means that Bam and company spent over 4 years of chapter releases connected to a train that's Irony supposed to act as a short-cut for Regulars to skip several floors of the Tower. For some readers, it left them feeling like the story was stuck in place, and caused them to drop out of reading the series only to pick it up again once Bam and company were finally off the Hell Train for good.
** The Season 3 chapters that revolve around infiltrating and battling through the Nest complex is quite fatiguing for some people. Mainly because of how the action scenes are laid out where readers either can't tell what's going on, or the battles are nothing more than BeamSpam wars.
* ArchivePanic: At 520+ chapters as of January 2022, with many chapters long enough to fill almost a dozen comic book pages, you may need a few spare weekends to get to where everyone else is at.
* AssPull:
** How some people feel towards the plot-twist during the Hell Train's Dallar Show arc, where Bam is suddenly handed [[spoiler:the power of the billion souls Hoaqin sacrificed over the years, allowing him to be defeated]].
** Even more so during The Nest, where Bam While all of his other abilities have had at least a semi-solid foundation, for some seriously veers into New Powers As The Plot Demands territory.
** Topping that is Hatz's Donghae -- although everyone knew it was really strong even without ignition --
* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt: Was pretty good to start with but had a major art bump when SIU hired someone to do the colouring.
** The way SIU draws the flames of the Yeon Family are particularly noteworthy. The Yeon flames seen from Ehwa during her Hell Train duel with Angel is absolutely gorgeous to look at.
** Another area of great art during the Hell Train chapters is the duel between Bam and Hoaqin during the "Go To Hell" game. The golden shading and flames seen throughout these chapters look incredible. Especially the moment when Bam is wielding a shinsu sword created from a billion souls.
* BaseBreakingCharacter:
** Rachel, to put it mildly, spoiler:though the break is more between those who find her an interesting character and those who just want her to die. It doesn't help that a lot of things about Rachel are still a mystery such as what her motivations exactly are and what she is truly trying to accomplish.
** Team Sweet and Sour as a whole. While there is a sizable amount of fans who appreciated their role in bringing Viole out of his shell, and liked the FamilyOfChoice dynamic they shared, other fans disliked them for being relatively inexperienced and weaker than Viole, to the point where Viole was the sole deciding factor in whether or not they won in many battles.
** Despite never having appeared on page, Phantaminum is starting to get this treatment. Specifically, there's a lot of debate over whether he adds any value to the story outside SIU's blogposts.
*** Detractors point to the fact that, as an Axis, Phantaminum is both invincible in a direct conflict and has the ability to manipulate reality across the entire Tower. They tend to argue that the Axis storyline is only relevant to SIU's SharedUniverse and almost entirely independent from the main plot. Therefore, they claim that Enryu, a being with concrete limitations that has direct plot relevance, fits the roles of WorldsStrongestMan and MysteriousStranger better without negating dramatic tension. Some even support a soft retcon of Phantaminum's existence on the basis that, as [=ToG=] becomes more extensive, the other Talse Uzer plotlines have become fairly unlikely to ever come to fruition.
*** Some fans of Phantaminum point to the WordOfGod statement implying that his role in the plot will be limited, arguing that this is a positive. They claim that the unsolved mystery around Phantaminum adds to the theme that the Tower is part of a wide world filled with innumerable overlapping stories. They also argue that the concept of an Axis uniquely reinforces the recurring plot point that there is AlwaysABiggerFish. As such, they are fans of the way SIU connects the Axis concept to the greater Talse Uzer story without having Phantaminum play too large a role.
*** Other fans enjoy Phantaminum's role in the Tower and believe that (even if he doesn't directly impact Bam's story) there are still ways to flesh out the mystery around him. Especially through answering plot-relevant questions like: Why did Phantaminum break into Jahad's palace? What did they discuss? Was he the catalyst to Jahad starting to develop power over fate itself? Is he the reason for Jahad's initial inactivity? Did he inform Jahad of the prophecy regarding Bam? Why did he spare Yuri? Why does Yuri think poorly of him? Why did Urek follow him into the Tower? Is Phantaminum connected to the Outside God?
* BrokenBase:
** There's a fairly large divide between those who believe the series gets better and crazier after Season 1 with Bam's new incredible power and edgy attitude, or if the story becomes too convoluted with arcs lasting too long and fan-favorite characters from the first season not reappearing for an extremely long time. It does not help that the first test after the timeskip is seen as hard to follow with the sheer amount of new characters introduced.
** The ending of the Workshop battle ended up as this. Fans are either happy because it's a perfect reunion for Bam and his friends from the test level, or they are disappointed for being a simple happy-go-lucky ending that didn't amount to any major twists, or turns, that Tower of God is famously known for. Or, you're in the third camp that actually liked the reunion, but was disappointed that an arc that lasted for over 50 chapters didn't amount to anything noteworthy.
** For the Name Hunt Station arc, fans are split as to whether or not Bam's group and Shibisu's group fighting over who gets Kaiser's name is justified. Bam's group needs the name, because it's part of the deal he made with Yuri in order to go to the forbidden 43rd Floor, but Shibisu needs the name because Endorsi's life is on the line having lost her name to Kaiser, as well as needing the name to hand over to the Lo Po Bia Princess twins since they offered to end the hunt for Anaak if Endorsi manages to return to them with Kaiser's name. What really gets people confused is why the two sides can't just team up to defeat Kaiser.
** The Floor of Death was set up to be an incredibly dangerous place, and this setup was enhanced by how the arcs right before had - making the status quo's protection feel conspicuously lighter than usual. And then Urek Mazino showed up, one-shot the previous saga's main villain with his finger, overwhelmed the current Big Bad (whose Administrator powers were supposed to make him basically unbeatable) at one-tenth strength, and effectively destroyed the idea that Bam & Co were ever in any danger. While the Floor of Death is still widely liked due to the lore and answers that are finally gotten after so long, as well as the awesomeness of seeing an Irregular cut loose, there's a debate on whether or not Urek's presence helped or hurt the arc overall.
** The Three Orders mini-arc has Bam finally confronting Rachel to end things between them once and for all . While Bam taking apart Rachel's Moral Myopia as she gets basically tossed around was CatharsisFactor universally enjoyed, Bam still didn't kill Rachel, and she even manages to get away after flipping the prophecy on its head and revealing a bit about why Bam was trapped in a hole. As such, she specifically ensures that Bam would have to keep looking for her for answers, meaning things between Bam and Rachel were definitely not ended once and for all, much to many's disappointment.
* CreatorsPet: WordOfGod stated Rachel was his favourite character. The fandom does not share this viewpoint at all. It may overlap with TrollingCreator, since he said that she's really quite charming once you get to know her in the comments for a page where she does something particularly objectionable.
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** Most notable are Yeon and Hon Akraptor, who appeared in Season two and almost immediately became immensely popular despite contributing very little to the plot.
** Reflejo himself seems to be making a reckoning... Several months after his death.
* FanficFuel: Bam's story is just one small piece that makes up the world of the Tower. The amount of stories that could have gone down within the Tower, confirmed to comprise over 134 continental-sized Floors, is endless, and ripe for telling new stories.
* Fanon:
** SIU corrects Rak's species, as well as his last name, is Lacration. The fandom still choose Wrathraiser or Wreckraiser because it's cooler and Lacration sounds like lactation.
** If a fanfic ever states what specific floor Khun Eduan rules, it'll likely be the 111th Floor. This one's due to the sheer popularity of all the blue in the world won’t do, without you, a fic which focuses on the future "Khun Family arc" that's occasionally brought up in AllThereInTheManual blog posts.
* GrowingTheBeard: Ho is seen as a turning point as to how dark this series can actually be.
* HesJustHiding: It gets more and more minuscule as the story moves along, but there will always be a small group of people out there who refuse to believe that . The readers are just supposed to take White's word for it that , which looks highly suspicious due to NeverFoundTheBody, and the process of how he died not actually being seen.
* ItsTheSameNowItSucks: There's a lot of betrayal and hostage situations seen throughout the series, which can get really tiresome and repetitive after awhile.
* ItWasHisSled:
** Rachel betrays Bam at the end of the 2nd Floor. You're gonna be hard-pressed to find somebody who doesn't mention this fact in conversations.
** Bam becomes a Slayer Candidate for the FUG terrorist organization. This is a result of the marketing for the series always loving to show off Bam's long-haired Slayer Candidate design.
* HoYay: Many, many characters take an instant liking to Bam and put a lot on the line for him. Special mention goes to Khun who seems to have fixated on Bam after the events with his own sister seemed to have left him without purpose.
* JerkassWoobie:
** Rachel (may also be AlternativeCharacterInterpretation): and possibly groomed her entire life for this role. Imagine being given a dream when you were just a child, and told it was your only chance for happiness. Now imagine (while still just a child) having that dream cruelly ripped away from you and given to someone else, and then being told you're just too ugly, bad, and not special enough to ever realize that dream. The result is an insecurity complex a mile wide and a tendency to perform cruel and manipulative acts just to stay in focus, but even then she's completely outclassed by everyone she surrounds herself with. spoiler: Also consider that she probably never intended to kill Bam, she was just told she must keep Bam from climbing the Tower. She seems to feel genuinely bad when she is informed of his supposed death, so that muddies her real feelings towards him further.
** Some of the FUG members certainly count despite their ruthlessness. Reflejo had his family wiped out and his eyelids sewn together just because he looked at a Jahad princess and Raguel had a horrible childhood because a 10 families member seduced and abandoned her mother.
* MemeticBadass:
** Paracule. Everyone else is just trash.
** Rak Wraithraiser. To the point where March was declared Rak appreciation month when he showed up in chapter 53 after his very long absence. A comic without Rak is a comic not worth having, after all.
** Edin Dan, Mr. Badass 2013. Well deserved after his SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome when he told Rachel off during the Devil of the Right Arm StoryArc.
** If it can bleed, Boro will slaughter it in a never-before-seen fashion with a weapon not fit for the job. If it cannot bleed, think again.
** Kallavan, AKA FanNickname Kallachad, whose history of tanking basically everything thrown at him from the castCasually recovering from Prime White forcing him to blow his arm off, powering through Jinsung Ha putting a hole in him, and the iconic shot of him charging Yuri, Karaka, and Evankhell at the same time, while still having a hole in him, are a few examples., as well as his sheer intensity, solidified this status.
* MemeticLoser:
** Given that Hoaquin's antics since being his first defeat to Bam have been a string of begrudgingly working with people to get his power back and getting humiliated by someone way out of his league, it's not a surprise that he's fallen into this category. SIU even mentions the "MemeAcknowledgment Pushover-White Theory" in a blogpost.
** Boro also fell into this category after the Dallar Show, in contrast to his Revolution Road status, around the time Sachi Faker lampshades that it doesn't matter if Boro dies since he's a BreakingTheFourthWall side character.
** The first time Khun fake-died after finding out that , it was shocking. The second time Khun fake-died right as , it was heartbreaking. The third time Khun fake-died as , it was infuriating. The fourth time Khun fake-died from , causing him to drop to the floor in a Yamcha Pose, it was getting TheyKilledKennyAgain kinda routine.
* MemeticMutation:
** Tower of Betrayal. Given the amount of betrayal that goes down in this series.
*** Same logic goes for Tower of Hostages.
** [=RaKhunBam=]. A common nickname for the TrueCompanions Bam, Khun, and Rak. Became an AscendedMeme in chapter 577 where a room the three of them were given is labeled as the "Rakhunbam Room."
** Phantamiseng. A joke about Miseng being Phantaminum; her unique weapon is her cuteness.
** Pretty much anything to do with certain male characters looking like women.
** Ehwa's magical disappearing tights. Viole works fast.
** Rak, being the MemeticBadass that he is, has spawned plenty of memes. Probably one of the most prominent is "An X without Rak is an X not worth having."
** Despite his scrappy status, Paracule has quite a following amongst those who honor him for continuing the glorious revolution.
** When there were chapters that hinted at the possibility of time travel, some were rather quick to appoint that the answer to every mystery and unanswered question in [=ToG=] is the older version of Bam after having gone back in time.
** Reflejo is apparently Tower of God's Messiah. "On the third arc, he shall return".
** The similarities between Hoaquin/White and Cell did not escape some of the fans, spawning the nickname "Semi-Perfect White".
*** Comparisons to Voldemort due to White splitting up the souls of the Arie siblings until the time has come to resurrect are also pretty common.
** "Spoilers for people without fastpass but [ridiculous event] happens." This came about due to LINE-Webtoon's fastpass function, which led to some people being three chapters ahead of some others.
*** "Spoilers for anime-only's but [ridiculous event] happens."
** #[=LetVioleTurnAround=]: the hashtag for the mass demand for a Season 2 of the anime. It references the ending of Season 1 which featured a brief back shot of Viole.
** "Most of what you desire can be found at the top of the Tower." Came about in response to Headon's Arc Words, with Bam asking for unorthodox/unreachable things.Such as a girlfriend, feet pictures, or Troll the bottom of the Tower.
** "X will be the Heroine/Love Interest" was spawned from the numerous, numerous redundant [=WMG=] posts on it with an important background character being X (usually Adori/Enne), to the point that very few people take them seriously anymore. (Although it can technically be traced back to ShrugOfGod SIU stating that Rak was the heroine OlderThanTheyThink during a Fancafe in 2013.)
** ArchiveBinge Read-ReactionVideo throughs of Tower of God, which became a bit more popular after the Anime wrapped up, are often called "climbing the Tower" due to the Webcomic's sheer length.
* Moe: Miseng, with her backpack, schoolgirl outfit and humble attitude, easily cries and tends to be cheerful.
%% Given that we still don't know what's actually going on with Rachel, and this has become a lightning rod for natter, please do not re-add Rachel under MoralEventHorizon until her arc is complete. Also, groups cannot have a MoralEventHorizon.
* ParanoiaFuel: FUG moles are everywhere, and they know everything. Woe to you if you are in any way acquainted with Viole.
* TheScrappy:
** Paracule, the DirtyCoward. As of the Workshop Battle, Paracule has come to cross the line twice as the Scrappy, as the utter ridiculousness and unexpected success of his DirtyCoward antics has made him into a bit of a MemeticBadass.
** Ironically due to his initial Jerkass behavior Hon Akraptor was hated by many fans and a lot hoped Bam would one-shot him. Fast forward a couple chapters later and he quickly became the most popular season 2 character because he's funny.
** Even more ironically, EnsembleDarkhorse Hatz became this during the Workshop Battle arc as his subarc is being derided as detracting from the other arcs. However, it calmed down once the Workshop Battle came to an end.
** Hong Danhwa from the Hell Train saga has started to get a lot of detractors due to being viewed as TheLoad for Bam's team. It didn't help that the reason Rak's fight with Arie Inieta got cut short was because Inieta managed to steal away Danhwa's ignition sword, Krishna.
** Lo Po Bia Yasratcha is starting to be considered this, by facto of having been quite the Yandere, and an ineffectual one at that. Numerous fans who initially liked him started to hold him in disdain for his selfishness, which got even worse after he massacred the Canines despite the fact he could have let them leave as Wangwang intended. And while Traumerei is far from being a nice guy, Yasratcha's Hypocrite and NeverMyFault attitude means fans tend to prefer Traumerei, who doesn't lie, is honest about being superior, and displays more honor and mercy, in addition to being quite cool.
* ShockingMoments:
** Without a doubt, when SIU ships out WhamEpisode after WhamEpisode in increasing wham-ness, this will apply. Case in point, .
** Meh -- that's peanuts. Try pausing for a few days during a read-through of Good luck, oh ye of great fortitude: you'll cave in to the plot-hooks after an hour.
** And of course, there's the original shocking moment, .
** The end of the Hidden Floor arc ends with [[spoiler: MassOhCrap Jahad himself showing up, him casually revealing to his younger data-self that he can control fate, the ignition of the 2nd Thorn Fragment, and the reveal of the purpose for the "treasure-eating stingray" Poe Bidau Gustang gave Rachel; to steal away the key to defeating Jahad.]] Which then leads into...
** The Hell Train saga's [[spoiler:Three Orders mini-arc makes it quite clear that the Tower is going to devolve into all-out war due to Jahad sending out the order to his followers to declare war on those he deems to be his 3 greatest enemies. These being FUG, Bam and company aboard the Hell Train, and the Po Bidau family]].
** In Season Three, the Wall of Peaceful Coexistence-arc ends off with [[spoiler: former Rebel Hero SealedBadassInACan Dowon siding with Kallavan and joining Jahad's Army, while Squadron Commander Yasratcha mind controls the entirety of the canine people into PsychicAssistedSuicide killing each other, all while Yama can only watch in a mix of rage and tears.]]
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: "Guardian" in the anime soundtrack has a distinct bass drop in the background around the 3:00 mark; you may recognize it from the opening rave scene of Blade (the specific track is "Confusion (1995 Pump Panel Remix)" by Music/NewOrder).
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: The animated adaption has generally received a very mixed response. Among its high points are the strong VA performances, the excellent soundtrack by Kevin Penkin, and the bright, yet unsettling aesthetic. However, a subset of the fanbase has complained loudly and frequently about the needless alteration of several key details in the anime, alleging this makes the series unnecessarily confusing and less compelling. This includes:
** Omitted conversations that helped establish ongoing character relationships, like:
*** Bam and Endorsi commiserating on the loneliness in their pasts (explaining why Endorsi develops feelings for him after such a short time);
*** Khun telling Bam and Rak about Maria (and internally lamenting that he couldn't climb the Tower alongside her); and
*** Bam's comments to Yu Hansung, the 2nd-floor test director, expressing how little he cares for the "huge pile of garbage" that is the Tower if climbing it means he can't be with Rachel .

** Multiple omitted quotes that are well-known for providing depth to (or insight into) characters' personalities, like:
--->Quant: Throwing away what's precious, giving in to their own selfish desires to even betray their own, but the one God has chosen is a child who cries over the death of a competitor... not a friend. But if he's truly gifted, there's no way they could have continued together. No matter how small a baby shark is, it can't swim with the sardines.

--->Rak: A game without me...IS A GAME NOT WORTH WINNING!!!

--->Rachel: I'm afraid of the night.This was in response to being questioned on why she wants to see the stars, and had "night" written with the same characters as Bam's name. However, outside the Japanese dub, which changed Bam's name accordingly, this would probably have been LostInTranslation regardless.

--->Khun: I will not be ruled. I make my own rules. That is the mindset of a ruler.

--->AGodIAmNot Bam: Isn't there..any way everybody can be happy? Not a way like this...\
Khun: Well...the god who created the tower might know the answer.\
Bam: Where's that god...?
** Omitted explanations/discoveries that are needed to understand the nature of the Tower and/or the plot, such as:
*** The full description of shinsu, baangsin broad strokes, they measure the number of shinsu blasts someone can independently control, the noteworthiness of the Irregulars Phantaminum and Enryu, and the relevance of each position.
*** The role that Yu Hansung played in manipulating Rachel and Bam into FUG.
*** The varying importance that the Hide and Seek test had on the regulars passing the 2nd Floor (specifically, several regulars were already shoo-ins to pass, like Khunwhy he was solely concerned with ensuring Bam's team would win, Shibisuwhy acting as a HumanShield for Anaak against a ranker with a HairTriggerTemper was so surprising, Rachelwhy she was given a second chance to move forward despite being put out of commission by Hoh, and Lauroewhy Hoh was desperate to prevent Bam from passing so he could take the other remaining Wave Controller spot).
** One scene that tends to get an especially hostile response from webcomic sticklers is the very end of the Crown Game (Season 1, Chapter 25 in the Webcomic vs. Episode 5 of the anime). The deviations in the scene that get the most complaints are:
*** (1) In the anime, after being attacked by Hwaryun, Bam has a quick flashback to his life in the cave as he loses consciousness. In the flashback, we see Rachel smile at him giving Bam his HeroicSecondWind. The webcomic has a slightly longer LovedOnesMontage (or Loved One Montage) about Rachel that similarly energizes Bam. However, in addition to happy memories, the webcomic briefly shows a moment where Rachel is having her hair pulled by some unknown assailant as she cries out. Some argue that the change deprives Rachel of some character depth re: why she may have been a ResentfulGuardian (for example, her being PunishedForSympathy, being forced to become Bam's caretaker, or being some manner of TheExile)
*** (2) The anime also depicts that Bam cuts out Hwaryun's eye through exercising the ability to turn into a giant golden blast of Shinsu. Said attack lasts for several seconds (wherein all participants stare in wonder), making the fact that Bam's friends don't reference it again seem a lot more egregious. Conversely, in the webcomic, having that kind of ability is never indicated as even being possible. The comic instead shows a split second where Bam instinctually uses Shinsu to slice Hwaryun's eye. Rather than scale, the noteworthiness concerns Bam's CoverBlowingSuperpower of being able to use Shinsu without making a contract with a Guardian (marking him as an Irregular as clarified by Lero-Ro). As both versions have Lero-Ro clarify that the latter point is what’s most surprising, the anime interpretation of the moment seems especially pointless.
*** (3) Lastly, in the webcomic, the scene (and arc) ends with Hwaryun's EyeScream. Conversely, the anime has an enraged Bam stand over the downed Hwaryun, about to kill her with the Black March before the weapon pulls a TimeStandsStill and knocks Bam unconscious with a kiss. This tends to get complaints first because Bam, the AllLovingHero, attacks her with full intent to kill (yet doesn't react that way when Rachel actually gets seriously injured by Hoh). Second, the Black March acts against Bam with a completely new, overpowered time-stopping ability for no real reason.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Depending on who you ask, this could amount to a plethora of people due to the webtoon's large cast. Especially later on when the series begins to try to switch around the focus to different teams that are all trying to climb up the Tower.
** Serena Linnen not passing the Floor-of-Tests is this for some people considering that she goes through actual CharacterDevelopment compared to a couple other Regulars that actually passed the 2nd floor.
** Some characters that passed the Floor-of-Tests with the rest of the core group seemed interesting enough, but they ended up never appearing again. Even moreso in the anime .
*** [[spoiler:While that's probably true for Levin, Chunhwa's sword and Hong Danhwa's Krishna both come from the same place and have shared backstory/potential future plot. Plus, SIU stated in a blogpost that Narae's still got Khun's bag, so chances are that the two are still climbing, just really, reaaaaally far offscreen. Given how Ghost has managed to come back into the story, there's a chance Chunhwa could too.]]
** Some readers began to feel this way about Rak despite the humanoid crocodile being one of the main characters. This is primarily because, in Season 2, Rak ended up largely OutOfFocus compared to the developments seen for Bam, Khun, and Rachel. It also doesn't help that SIU actually said in an interview that he doesn't enjoy drawing the large version of Rak, which is why Rak is seen in chibi-form almost all the time throughout Season 2. As a result, the fans feel that SIU is holding back on Rak from potentially doing anything badass, and has left the crocodile as nothing more than a chibi-form comic relief character. It gets better for Rak by the time of the Hidden Floor where he starts receiving some much needed power-ups, but overall, people are still tired that he's only ever seen in chibi-form a vast majority of the time.
** Despite being among the most developed characters in Part 1, part of a small group that might be able to avoid (or at least delay) CantCatchUp territory compared to our protagonist, and one of the few regulars whose character arc is altogether independent from Bam's, Anaak is almost entirely ignored in the several hundred chapters of Part 2 barring a short (and admittedly awesome) fight against Khun Ran. This is especially egregious since her connection to the plot points of Part 2 allowed for multiple non-contrived reasons to keep her as a major character. This includes possessing a connection to Garam Jahad (who played a major role on the Floor of Death and briefly cared for Anak after she was orphaned), holding a grudge against Jahad that should have made her a prime choice to join FUG, being hunted by the Jahad Empire just like Bam, ending up the catalyst for her frenemy Endorsi losing her name at the Name Hunt Station, establishing a rivalry with the (far more focused-on) Ran, and having reason to clash with Yuri (over ownership of the Green April).
** The five Arie siblings that combined to form the FUG Slayer, "White," could have made for some interesting character dynamics, especially Vicente and David teaming up with Wangnan. Unfortunately, Hoaqin manages to take over as the dominant persona of "White" during the Dallar Show, which causes the other siblings to go dormant for several hundred chapters. Even once the Hoaqin version of "White" is defeated, it's only Vicente who reappears, which results in the other siblings still being complete no-shows.
** Some readers feel that Baylord Yama hasn't lived up to the hype of being a powerful FUG Slayer. His introduction is decent where he gets to show off his strength as the powerful King of the canines during the Cage chapters, but from the moment Yasratcha appears to confront him at the Wall of Peaceful Coexistence, Yama gets hit hard with TheWorfEffect. Suddenly, almost every battle from then on, especially during the Nest saga, involves Yama getting dunked on. He gets so beat up and toyed with throughout the Nest complex that it's left some readers so disappointed in him to the point of not being able to take him, or his status as a FUG Slayer, seriously anymore.
** In Season 3, Elaine/Kaiser's absence is quite noticeable when Bam stumbles upon Elaine's father, Elbaba of the Gray Wolf Family. Bam ends up fighting him for several reasons, such as not liking how Elbaba's been mistreating his daughter. Given her connections to Elbaba and the Gray Wolf Family, this seemed like a perfect opportunity to have Elaine finally get involved in the story again after being sidelined since Name Hunt Station. However, Elaine ended up having no involvement in Bam's encounter with her father whatsoever. What's even more damning is that Elaine is seen as part of Bam's Season 3 squad, yet she still ended up remaining OutOfFocus regarding this plotline.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot:
** The Floor of Death arc had a side-plot going on where . Once the arc was over, this plot-thread gets no resolution whatsoever. ([[spoiler:Granted, Hwaryun later on admitted that while she did hold a grudge, she mainly just needed Yuri to take on Hell Joe so she could get the soul-stirring ladle in the chaos]].)
** Wangnan's heritage is a big deal, hinted at throughout his character arc. When he joins the main crew on the Hidden Floor, he gets the opportunity to meet . Do they meet up? Do they comment on each other's strikingly similar appearances, or does anyone else who knows him discuss it? Shockingly, no.
* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: Shibisu makes a reference to VideoGame/PokemonGo during Season 2's Name Hunt Station arc, which can feel a bit dated since the arc came out around the time that the game peaked in real life.
* ViewerGenderConfusion: Has pretty much become a meme among the fandom, given the high concentration of pretty young men and a few handsome girls.
** Yu Hansung, Hoh, Nya Nia, Ran, Quaetro, and especially Hoaqin incite this reaction due to their delicate features, big eyes, and (for some of them) long hair. Bam skirts this trope himself from time to time, , and Khun sometimes falls into this trope depending on his hairstyle.
** Aka Williams also gets this, although Gonk not in the usual way-- because he crossdresses all the time, many assumed he was a BrawnHilda before the narrative clarified his gender.
** Even the translators sometimes get confused and initially use female pronouns for a male character before correcting the mistake in later chapters. The author seems to purposefully make things a bit confusing as well. Heck, when Quaetro is introduced, the author states that his/her gender will be revealed later but for now most translators seem to be using male pronouns. Only time will tell if this turns out to be correct.
** Kaiser had this going for a while too, what with the name almost always being used for men, but the long hair, obscuring cloak, and rather feminine mask in place also helped obfuscate the gender. Come the time though, it's made immediately apparent that Kaiser is, in fact, female, and the only reason there was any doubt in the first place was how SIU drew her until then and lack of gender-specific dialogue. In the chapter her gender is confirmed, Kaiser directly refers to herself as a woman, and SIU properly shows her body and feminine clothing beneath the cloak. Before that, it was all obtuse angles, close-ups to her mask and/or shadow shots.
** Evankhell is a very masculine woman, with her sharp jaw, tough attitude, and military outfit. Overlooking her breasts and her long hair (again, a moot point where boys prominently feature this trait), there were many fans who believed she was a man.
* TheWoobie: Bam is adorable, kind, optimistic, determined, and gets to suffer quite a bit.
* Woolseyism: The Company leaves a lot of translation notes in their scans explaining their localizations, and are quite good at adapting the many Korean cultural references to fit an English reader's context. See Volume 2, Chapter 13 for a particularly awesome example. (Even after several years of LINE Webtoon doing the official English translation, many say that The Company's Fanslation was better.)
