* AntiClimaxBoss:
** [[spoiler: Atticus kills his father as a sneak attack, and thus he puts up no form of resistance. He probably couldn’t if he wanted to any way.]]
** [[spoiler:Atticus himself in the season 2 finale, although he's not killed.]]
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: If you're a rock/metal fan in general, you'll recognize some of the songs in the show. Among the bands featured are: Anvil, Mouth of the Architect, Red Fang, Schoolyard Heroes, Blackguard, Children of Bodom, Municipal Waste, Danzig, Cult of Luna, Darkest Hour, Suicide Silence, Doomriders and more.
* BestKnownForTheFanservice: A shockingly large amount of people were drawn to the show by [[HoYay the sexual tension between Todd and Atticus]] alone.
* DracoInLeatherPants: Yes, Atticus is pathetic and only wants to be friends with Todd, but he's also a psychopath who revels in being evil, murders on a regular basis, and is overall a huge dick in general.
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** Hannah and Atticus are clearly the two most popular main characters, getting the lion's share of the plotlines in season 2.
** Certain one-shot characters are also fondly remembered, such as Troy, the jock who manages to cram ridiculous amounts of HoYay in with Atticus over the course of 3 minutes.
** Charlotte, Hannah's tongueless romantic rival is also quite popular. As is StraightGay [[TheWoobie Woobie]] Simon.
** Len Bergman, [[KnightOfCerebus for being one of the only legitimately creepy villains in the show.]]
** Eddie of the Metal Dudes is popular due to his catchphrase.
* FanPreferredCouple: Surprisingly, Todd/Atticus has eclipsed all other pairings in popularity. Hannah/Todd is also more popular than the canon Jenny/Todd, due to Hannah's popularity and accommodating nature with Todd.
* FountainOfMemes: Atticus. Most of the show's quotes come from him. To a lesser extent, Jimmy.
* GrowingTheBeard: Season 2 has a much more compelling overarching plot and succeeds in making the entire cast more likeable.
* HoYay:
** Todd has quite a bit with both of his male companions, but the truly staggering amount he has with Atticus stands out.
** Atticus and Troy have about three minutes of screen time together, but in those three minutes the HoYay rivals Todd/Atticus in intensity.
* JerkassWoobie:
** Jenny is rude and callous on the outside, but a lot of her behavior is justifiable, due to her father's disappearance while he was searching for the Book. And by the time [[spoiler:she finds him, things [[EvilAllAlong only go downhill from there when she discovers the truth]].]]
** Bailey, the school bully, may have been a total prick to a lot of people but it's hard not to feel some level of sympathy when he gets humiliated by Todd taking a picture of his privates and posting it for the whole school to see. And later on, when his monster penis is running amok, Bailey has his HeelRealization and helps Todd to take down the monster schlong, causing himself a lot of agony as he [[GroinAttack attacks the monster which was basically still a part of himself]].
** Wanda was an AlphaBitch whose character didn't have very many likeable qualities to her. However, in the final episode, it was revealed that there had somehow been a scandalous video of her that had been made public, ensuring that practically every guy in the school(even those below her social standing) would turn her down to prom. After being rejected for the last time, the look of despair and sadness on her face was pretty heartbreaking as the book finally appeared before her while she was at her lowest.
** Todd himself is — at first — a perverted, generally unlikable person who is destined [[spoiler:to destroy the world. However, once he discovers his destiny, he's horrified and depressed and does everything he can to stop himself from becoming the Pure Evil One, although he's still kind of a dick.]]
** Atticus. While he's done a lot of evil things like kidnap Jenny's father and try to ruin the lives of the gang repeatedly, it's still understandable why he became the way he did, especially after you find out about the TraumaCongaLine his father put him through, which pretty much screwed him up for life.
** {{Shipmates}}: Curtis/Hannah is wildly accepted by all non Todd/Hannah shippers. It's also surprisingly common for [[PairTheSpares Atticus to end up with Jenny when neither is getting shipped with Todd.]]
* MisaimedFandom: See PeripheryDemographic. It's pretty ridiculous how a group of people could be so focused on the relationship between Todd and Atticus to the point where they'll complain whenever either is teased with anyone else. Keep in mind this show is filled Heavy Metal, {{Gorn}}, BlackComedy and ToiletHumor, hardly prime BoysLove material.
* MoralEventHorizon:
** The Metal Dudes [[spoiler:cement their status as evil bastards by encouraging Todd to kill Curtis.]]
** Also, while [[KnightOfCerebus Len Bergman]] actually had perfectly good reasons for [[spoiler: wanting to kill Todd]], he crossed the line from WellIntentionedExtremist to KnightTemplar by [[spoiler:trying to kill Jenny alongside him for no other reason than her being affiliated with Todd.]]
** [[spoiler:Pat Kolinsky]] tells Jenny, [[spoiler:''his daughter,'']] that he plans on pimping her out to [[spoiler:Todd, and when she refuses]] he threatens to wear her skin and pose as her to [[spoiler:seduce Todd and turn him into the Pure Evil One.]]
* PeripheryDemographic: Surprisingly, the show is quite popular with YaoiFangirls due to the massive amount of ammo the show supplies for the Todd/Atticus ship.
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Curtis was disliked by many fans initially due to being a seemingly useless dumbass, but over time his NiceGuy attitude and romance with Hannah made him one of the only non-{{Base Breaking Character}}s in the cast.
* TheScrappy: Jenny is disliked for her "whiny" personality and getting in the way of Todd/Atticus ships. It's also about her relationship with Todd: he's a HopelessSuitor around her, when all she brought to the table was her looks (and many argued that Hannah was just as attractive as her.); her rudeness and hostility rubbed people the wrong way, and the fact that she was often portrayed in a more positive and competent light than the other main characters.
* ShipToShipCombat: Inevitable. Todd/Jenny, Todd/Hannah and Todd/Atticus all have pretty large followings who are insulted whenever their couple is not portrayed as official in a fanfic. Todd/Curtis shippers also exist, but mostly as a joke and are more of a minority than the other three.
* ShockingMoments: The second season finale reveals [[spoiler: that Hannah's parents experimented on the Book of Pure Evil and the three metal dudes are apparently immortal magic-users. Not only that, but Todd expels the Book of Pure Evil from the school, Atticus becomes trapped in its pages and Hannah dies as a result of her connection to the book. At least until a new Hannah emerges from a cloning tank in the basement of the Crowley Heights retirement home.]]
* {{Squick}}:
** This series is not for the faint of heart, and features countless examples of gratuitous and over the top {{Gorn}} and ToiletHumor.
** For fans who aren't fond of the Todd/Atticus ship, the idea of a man in his late thirties having a lustful obsession with a teenage boy can come off as this. This is the show's intended reaction to it, as all of the tension between them is acknowledged as creepy in-universe.
* TearJerker: [[spoiler: The death of Hannah, followed by Curtis' heartbroken declaration that he blames Todd.]]
* {{Wangst}}: Played with, for laughs. Anytime anyone has an emotional issue, said person will run away crying out "Nobody understands me!"
* TheWoobie:
** Simon and Leslie are two examples. He was bullied just for being gay and wanted acceptance and understanding for being different; Leslie was bubbly, but socially awkward and [[IJustWantToHaveFriends just wanted some friends]]. In both cases, the other students realized they'd essentially cast spells with the Book and kill them. If anything, it shows just how much of a CrapsackWorld the characters live in or how ruthless [[JackassGenie the Book]] is.
** Atticus may be a massive tool, but his entire life is essentially one gigantic TraumaCongaLine.
