* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: There seems to be a bit of debate concerning Pete, the regular customer at the skydiving place, who dies partway through the movie. Some see him as a typical adrenaline junkie, who sadly fell prey to target fixationWhen a person moving at high speed becomes so fixated on an obstacle or target that they inadvertently increase their risk of hitting it. and failed at his emergency procedures when his pack didn't open properly. Others read his comments beforehand as signs of obsession and suicidal tendencies (Joe even asks him straight up if he's "tired of living" when he keeps asking to do progressively more and more dangerous stunts.) and assume that his pack didn't fail, he just decided not to open it.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Provided by Jimmy Bryant and his band.Aside from miming along to a fairly big hit of Bryant's ("Stratosphere Boogie"), the two songs heard in the film -- "Ha So" and "Tobacco Worm" -- were the A- and B-sides to a rare single released as a tie-in to the film; according to his son, Jimmy himself hated the movie and regretted that he and the Night Hoppers were involved.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The whole party near the end. What the heck is a stereotypical Scottish man, complete with huge red mustache, kilt, Tam O'Shanter bonnet, and thick brogue accent, doing at the party? Why is there an African-American girl in a polka-dot bikini, a woman in a tutu and roller skates, a caricatured Chinese man, an Creator/AnitaEkberg-esque buxom woman who can easily fling her rail-thin dance partner around and a weird idiot who takes photographs of skydivers just to take home... and look at them?
* EnsembleDarkhorse: For all that he's wildly out of place, the Scotsman has some fans for having no trouble at all dancing with the "beefy girl".
* HilariousInHindsight:
** The town this movie was filmed in (Half Moon Bay) would be plagued yet again by the production of a shockingly terrible movie nearly 50 years afterwards, which (part of) the MST3K crew would Riff once again.
** The Hot Coffee scandal makes the insistance on coffee by the characters even more hilarious.
* Narm: The famous "Coffee? ... I like coffee." scene, even by this movie's standards.
* SoOkayItsAverage: By Coleman Francis standards at least. Film/TheBeastOfYuccaFlats is an utter trainwreck and Film/RedZoneCuba is completely morally reprehensible. This film is just competent enough to be totally forgettable.
* TearJerker: One legitimately sad moment in the film is when a child innocently asks, "Is Harry dead?"
* ViewerGenderConfusion: Beth is played by an actress credited as Kevin Casey. She is very androgynous-looking, helmet wig notwithstanding.
