!!Animated TV Series:
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: From the CompilationMovie, ''Tarzan and Jane'', we have [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCzprhvyvtU "Singing to the Song of Life"]] sung by Music/MandyMoore.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The opening of the episode "Tarzan and the Jungle Madness" begins with Professor Porter studying a new species of red flower in the jungle, only to be assaulted by a random woodpecker. In trying to flee from it, he falls among a group of flower-buds that slowly unfold themselves, each revealing a sleeping woodpecker inside that all proceed to attack him. The eerie scene feels like something out of a [[Film/InvasionOfTheBodySnatchers pod people horror film]], though the plot then becomes a mystery to discover why the animals of the jungle are suddenly going into a mindless frenzy. Jane and Tarzan discovering Porter's diary as he chronicles the possibility of the new flower being the cause of the jungle madness seemingly ties the two plot points together. And then... it turns out the ''real'' cause behind the animals rampaging is due to radio waves from the trading post's new radio tower. In short, the flowers were a RedHerring, but it makes one wonder what the point of the bizarre woodpecker-flower scene even was, especially since it's never explained ''why'' the birds were inside the blossoms to begin with.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: As far as the villains went, Tublat was easily the most memorable, not only being one of Tarzan's most formidable opponents, if not the most formidable opponent period, but also being fantastically portrayed by Creator/KeithDavid, whose performance prevented him from becoming a rather one-note villain.
* GeniusBonus:
** The titular leopard cub of ''Tarzan and the Lost Cub'' is obviously supposed to be Jad-Bal-Ja, the Golden Lion. With Sabor having gone from lioness to leopard it makes a certain amount of sense.
** Mabaya's madness is not just an invention of the series' writers; periodically, bull elephants come into musth, a condition caused by a surge in testosterone levels, which makes them wildly unpredictable and more aggressive than usual (though it is not a permanent condition but a temporary one).
* HarsherInHindsight: "The Trading Post". Tarzan must find the rhinos a new home when the trading post drives them into gorilla territory. The conflict is solved but with a BittersweetEnding:
-->'''Kala:''' But with more and more people coming to the jungle, I can't help but wonder...\
'''Jane:''' Wonder what?\
'''Kala:''' How long can it last?
: The following decade after the episode's release, [[http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-15663982 the western black rhino went extinct]], and [[https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/science/ct-northern-white-rhino-embryos-20180704-story.html the northern white rhino fell]] beyond the point of recovery (although HopeSpringsEternal).
* HilariousInHindsight:
** One episode has Tantor state that "they ought to put warning labels on [scary books]". Nowadays, certain books ''do'' have parental advisory stickers, and even [[UsefulNotes/EntertainmentSoftwareRatingBoard ESRB]]-style breakdowns of objectionable content.
** Creator/ReneAuberjonois voicing an unscrupulous capitalist in an untamed wilderness and an eye for new technology? [[VideoGame/FalloutNewVegas Certainly we'll never see anything like that again!]]
** How about Creator/KeithDavid voicing a [[Series/TheFlash2014 violent, antagonistic gorilla]]?
* HoYay: Max, the journalist in "Tarzan and One Punch Mullargan", is really in awe of Tarzan, with some of his comments sounding like he's got a crush on the ape-man.
* MoralEventHorizon:
** When Tarzan and Professor Porter try to stop Professor Philander from caging (and he plans on killing too) the silver ape Mangani, he cuts a rope Tarzan was hanging on, sending him falling several stories to his apparent death. Rather than let Archimedes examine and try to save his son in law, Philander plans on stranding him at sea and tossing Tarzan's body overboard.
** Lt. Colonel Staquait crossed it by ordering Hugo and Hooft to burn a village full of civilians that he knew included innocent women and children. AND to top it off he tried to have them executed for daring to object to this atrocity calling them deserters.
** Zutho crosses it by blackmailing the young Tarzan, agreeing to keep the fact that he started a disastrous fire a secret in exchange for later repayment. Then when the mandrill comes to collect, aside from all the bullying he does, what does he want Tarzan to do? [[DisproportionateRetribution Kill a bunch of monkeys that had been keeping him awake.]]
* NightmareFuel: Has its [[NightmareFuel/TheLegendOfTarzan own page]].
* PoorMansSubstitute:
** Creator/JeffBennett for the late Creator/NigelHawthorne. A ManOfAThousandVoices he might be, in theory as it seems closer to less than ten that just gets reused a lot, but a famed Shakespearean actor, he is not and his performance sounds more like a caricature of Hawthorne's than anything else.
** Likewise, Susanne Blakeslee for Creator/GlennClose. Her voice sounds similar, but in contrast to Bennett's in relation to Hawthorne's, Blakeslee's sounds closer to an imitation... One that is only semi-successful.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: The leopard cub and his mother who end up befriending Tarzan and his family in "Tarzan and the Lost Cub", making them the first predators to serve as friends to the protagonists instead of random adversaries. The idea of "good leopards" who could have been recurring allies and companions to Tarzan (similarly to his lion companion Jad-bal-ja from the book series) definitely had a lot of potential, but alas they never appeared again after their debut episode.
* UnintentionallySympathetic: Dania from "Tarzan and the Rift". In that episode, Tantor gets the chance to ask Dania out on a date, but the evening gets ruined by Terk showing up, making noise with household items, and being oblivious to the other characters' feelings. At that point, Dania being alienated by Terk is justifiable. To make matters worse, this is all just a big misunderstanding. The whole conflict could've been avoided if Terk had just apologized to Dania for making such a bad first impression, or at least done something nice to make up for it. But instead, the episode acts like Terk's actions were automatically forgivable. The episode never acknowledges the misunderstanding and expects us to dislike Dania for believing that Tantor should stop hanging around with Terk, despite the fact that her belief is based on Terk making a bad first impression and doing nothing to make up for it. On the other hand, she meant well the whole time, until she thought she would lose a friend. Dania simply said Tantor had to choose between his best animal friend or her, when she could have said "Wherever we go, ''don't let her'' anywhere close to me!".
* ViewerGenderConfusion: As with the original Disney film, Terk is often mistaken to be male. This gets {{lampshaded}} several times.

!!2016 Film:
* CompleteMonster: [[EvilColonialist Captain Léon Rom]] is the {{ambitio|nIsEvil}}us envoy to the colonialist King Leopold II of Belgium. Dispatched to steal the Congo's diamonds by his bankrupt king, Rom makes a deal with a local warlord who hates John Clayton III, aka Tarzan, to bring him Tarzan for the jewels. With 800 Congolese [[SlaveryIsASpecialKindOfEvil slaves forced to build a railway]], Rom uses them to lay the ground to bring in a mercenary army, capturing another ten slaves along with Jane to lure out Tarzan. Taking the diamonds, Rom goes to make the payment for the mercenaries, motivated to enslave the whole nation for the {{glory|Hound}} for saving Leopold's economy.
* CriticalDissonance: Liked by general audiences, but heavily panned by critics.
* HarsherInHindsight: One of the TV spots features a gorilla carrying an infant Tarzan out of a cradle. This began airing shortly after an incident at the Cincinatti Zoo where a gorilla named Harambe was shot dead after grabbing a small child who fell into his exhibit.
* MoralEventHorizon: [[BigBad Rom]] and Leopold II hit it when it's revealed they're involved in slavery.
* SpecialEffectFailure: There is some shoddy greenscreening during the scene where Tarzan attacks the train convoy. The tree branches the characters are traversing look especially artificial.
** The CGI animals tend to look like they were made on a television budget. For example, the apes don't look realistic at times and pale in comparison to the ones in the modern ''Franchise/PlanetOfTheApes'' films.
* {{Tearjerker}}: Mbonga breaking down and giving Tarzan a WhatTheHellHero for killing his son.
-->'''Mbonga:''' It was just an animal.\
'''Tarzan:''' [[YouKilledMyFather She was my mother]]!\
'''Mbonga:''' ''[voice cracking]'' How was he to know? My son was just a boy!
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: Hiccups aside, the rest of the special effects in the film are gorgeous.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Reducing Opar from a lost Atlantean city to another generic African tribe and cutting out La.
