* CrossesTheLineTwice: When Superboy-Prime rips off Risk's arm in ''Infinite Crisis'', it's sad and horrifying. Risk returns in revenge here and Prime rips the other arm off in response. It's kind of funny.
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: When Hal tells the citizens of Coast City to evacuate, because Sinestro and pals are about to blow it up and take it over [[ComicBook/TheDeathOfSuperman again]]. And how do they respond? Every single one of them shines green lights out their windows to encourage our hero. Then there's the news broadcast later on to recap the epic heartwarming.
--> "And when every other metropolis under threat was evacuating, there wasn't a single car or a single person that left Coast City."
* NarmCharm: Hal and Kyle have their rings drained by Manhunters on a roof. Kyle asks Hal what should they do. Hal quips, "We improvise." Cut to Hal and Kyle making ComicBook/SpiderMan-esque leaps off rooftops.
* TakeThatScrappy: Jack T. Chance is killed off during the story, AndThereWasMuchRejoicing.
* TearJerker:
** Quite a few, but one memorable one is the reaction of Hank Henshaw, once the Cyborg Superman and now a grieving madman [[DeathSeeker obsessed with his own destruction]], when it looks like he's about to die:
--->'''Henshaw:''' ''"Will this kill me?"''\
'''John Stewart:''' ''"... Yes."''\
'''Henshaw:''' ''"[[GoOutWithASmile Thank you.]]"''
** And then later when his shattered robotic skull is reclaimed by the Manhunters and brought back to 'life', all he can do is silently weep.
* ToughActToFollow: For many Green Lantern fans, the story is ''the'' GL story, owing to the epic scale, strong character work, and how much it expanded the mythos. General consensus is that, while Johns run after is ''good'', it and subsequent runs have been forever in the shadow.
