!!''Film/ReeferMadness'' provides examples of:
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Courtesy of [[WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic Doug Walker's look at the film]]; the adult audience and the doctor are the ones that are stoned. Notice the adults spend hours in a room paying rapt attention to one man who is telling dramatized and exaggerated stories that likely never happened, and they're all overly paranoid and suspicious.
* AlternateAesopInterpretation: The tragedy was caused not by drug use, but by Jack's failure to observe proper gun safety by using a loaded gun as a blunt weapon.
* {{Anvilicious}}: "Marihuana" will ruin your life and the lives of those around you. Take this reefer for an hour and you get this movie.
* DoNotDoThisCoolThing: It gets especially bad when the opening segment is basically an instructional video on how to prepare and ''smuggle'' joints.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: The weird piano player from the soda shop. He's even the title image for the ''Podcast/RiffTrax'' stream of the movie on {{Creator/Hulu}}.
* FridgeLogic:
** Related to KarmaHoudini on the main page. The entire film is told in flashback by the principal... but how did he know about Jimmy running the old man over if he was never charged?
** Also the drug dealers don't actually "deal". Nobody seems to purchase the stuff. Do they just give it away? It also seems they get their clients high and then send them to their soda shop, where they spend lots of money on food and drink.
* HilariousInHindsight: The movie's message against marijuana has become even more silly since recreational marijuana has become legal in a few countries like Uruguay, Canada, and many jurisdictions across the [=US=] since 2012. Also because there is more education about cannabis and its effects than there was when the film was produced.
* MexicansLoveSpeedyGonzales: The film is meant to be anti-stoner...and yet many stoners find their portrayal too over-the-top to be offensive.
* MisaimedFandom: In this case, potheads actually love ''Reefer Madness''. The movie was originally intended as anti-cannabis propaganda, but now it's become a beloved StonerFlick because it's hilariously {{clueless|Aesop}} about its subject matter and even more hilarious to watch, especially while high.
* {{Narm}}:
** The ''Theatre/RomeoAndJuliet'' scene is just painful to watch. It doesn't help that they seem to be [[StarCrossedLovers royally missing the point]].
** When Ralph attempts to rape Mary, as horrifying as it is, the scene is ruined by Mary letting out an incongruous "Let me be!" Which is such an odd thing for someone in this situation to shout, one can't help but snicker.
* PeripheryDemographic[=/=]VindicatedByHistory: Stoners LOVE this movie.
* SoBadItsGood: In the 1970s, college kids would enjoy smoking "marihuana" and watching the film whenever it came on TV. [[HilarityEnsues They found it to be a blast.]] Even sober, it's hilarious as long as you think of it as a comedy.
* SpaceWhaleAesop: Don't smoke pot, or else drug dealers will kill your girlfriend and frame you for the murder.
* SpecialEffectFailure: Near the end of the movie, Blanche commits suicide by jumping out a window. It's obviously a dummy that falls.
* {{Wangst}}: Blanche's confession, er, "plea bargain".
