* EvilIsCool: Dude, Ray Wise as TheDevil is the epitome of cool.
* FridgeBrilliance: Sam is [[spoiler:the only one of the Devil's children who's openly defiant to his face and willing to tell him off... which is ''exactly'' the relationship the Devil had with his own father, God.]]
* HarsherInHindsight:
** At the end of second episode, Andi jokes about [[spoiler:being in Hell together.]] Then the end of the series happens and it looks like [[spoiler:she was right.]]
** In "Acid Queen", the Devil takes Sam to a photography studio as the women are posing and ask him if he's an "Boob man, ass man, or leg man" and simply says "What's a little locker room talk between friends" when a disgusted Sam tells him to stop making these lewd comments. 9 years later in 2016, Donald Trump would face controversy by making similar remarks about women and justifying the conversation as "locker room talk".
* HoYay: Tony and Steve aside, Sock has an awful lot of moments like this toward Sam (telling him he's never been more attracted to a man, the making out in the woods comment, always mentioning how tasty he looks, the hugging/butt slapping...), and there's even a little vice versa (calling Sock 'sweetheart', that hand-holding thing when Sam couldn't stand up well, anticipating his emotions expertly, etc). The episode "''Leon''" even included a little break-up-make-up plot.
** Nina tells Sock she was't sure if he was gay or straight, thinking he was attracted to Ben. Although she probably just said that to annoy him, as it was in a nightmare she sent him.
* LargeHam: Sock
* MagnificentBastard: [[{{Satan}} The Devil]] is the [[AffablyEvil charismatic]] and [[ManOfWealthAndTaste stylish]] lord of hell who tricks Sam's parents into selling his soul to him before Sam's birth. The Devil uses Sam as a BountyHunter to recapture escaped souls from hell while constantly exploiting his opponents by using ExactWords to get his way in his deals. The Devil arranges for Sam to get an apartment next to a pair of rebel demons whose plan to destroy him would actually have worked, and manipulates Sam into infiltrating the rebellion with a new (doomed) plan to kill him, he also signs Sam's lease with his name and sends him clues as to what is going on that Sam, Sock and Ben can only work out moments after it is too late to do anything about it. He then repeats this plan with the few survivors of the rebellion, and is still witty, charming and diabolically affable.
* MoralEventHorizon: Greg, Andi's ex-boyfriend, also counts, [[spoiler:what with selling his soul for a Jedi mind trick to force Andi to be with him.]]
* NightmareFuel: Possibly in "Coming to Grips" - after beheading a soul, Sam wants ham to eat and supposedly ham tastes a lot like humans.
* RetroactiveRecognition: Creator/ArmieHammer had a recurring role in Season 2 as Morgan, a year before his breakthrough [[ActingForTwo role(s)]] in ''Film/TheSocialNetwork''.
* RomanticPlotTumor: The Sock/Kristen plot in the first half of Season 2, which many fans felt took up too much time.
* SeasonalRot: The first half of season two isn't liked as much, with the main contributor being the largely useless subplot involving Sock being hung up on his new stepsister Kristen, with several episodes focusing more on this than the MonsterOfTheWeek or the MythArc. Things improved once Kristen was PutOnABus and Sock started acting like his old self again.
