Go To

* AlasPoorScrappy: Guests were often seen as a ScrappyMechanic, being annoying and inexperienced at best and a foolproof way for trolls to exploit games and get away with it at worst. However, when Guests were removed in October 2017 as a way to increase user count, many players felt Roblox was being greedy and started to mourn the Guests, with tributes such as ''WebAnimation/TheLastGuest''.
* AluminumChristmasTrees: Yes, for ''Overnight'', peanut butter pizza does exist.
* AntiClimaxBoss:
** The final boss of the 2013 Halloween event, Bloxhilda, is a DamageSpongeBoss, but the limits of ROBLOX's AI at the time meant that she doesn't pose too much of a danger. Even worse, the player is guaranteed to have unlocked a OneHitKO attack by this point that Bloxhilda is not invincible against to, and the attack's ammo of one shot per battle means nothing when Bloxhilda spends a good few seconds standing perfectly still at the start of the fight that makes it easy to use the attack and kill her instantly.
** The final boss of the 2021 Roliday Rumble event was set up to be an amazing battle. Then, Ice Brain's minions were fired after one of them purchased an [=NFT=]. This leads into what was supposed to be a difficult battle turning into literally winning by simply poking him.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt:
** You'll mistake the advertisements and thumbnails for [[https://www.roblox.com/games/1776993580/New-Zone-Dragon-Keeper-BETA Dragon Keeper]] to be images from a professional video game.
** [[https://twitter.com/rastapastatf2 rastamypasta]]'s, the artist for Roblox's events, anime-style art, and watercolor-like shading is worth to look at.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-XBFN6LR0Y "The Great Strategy"]], often considered THE theme of Classic Roblox, is a proud and dramatic song with a distinctive horn and synth lead.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2uuQ1kdprk "Winds of Fjords"]] is a chilling piece, starting off as tense and mysterious before moving onto an uplifting synthesizer melody that lasts for a while until it returns to its original mood.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNUK0UA921E "Happy Day in Robloxia]] combines a fun and catchy rhythm with an equally fun beat. Then there's its silly WithLyrics counterpart, ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0JyCdk5ymo The Shirts and Pants song]].''
** The song for the 2009 trailer, [[https://youtu.be/zBvZQrmpegE "Online Social Hangout"]], has a fast and intense techno beat that is sure to get anyone pumped and ready for action.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZu1dw1uBx4 Iron Blades]] sounds like your token climatic battle theme in any respectable EasternRPG because it ''is'' - it's actually the song Darkness Dueling from Chrono Symphonic, an [=OCRemix=] based on ''VideoGame/ChronoTrigger'''s battle theme.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufnlZDx5pfQ "Radical Shift"]], used in the 2011 commercial, is an exciting mixture of electronic synths, especially at the breakdown.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_YLKySjEN4 "Tsunami" (Jay Cosmic Remix)]] from ''Pinewood Computer Core'', which captivates both the [[SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome awesomeness]] and [[NightmareFuel scariness]] of the core explosion.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5a6LrFPW5-k "Here We Go" by Giants of Industry]], officially used in and made popular with the Roblox Anthem Video, is an energetic {{Alternative| Rock}}/Pop Rock IWantSong that manages to be darn catchy!
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQbEhEbGdQY "Bouncy"]], the former Playground theme in ''[=MeepCity=]'', reflects the happy-go-lucky SugarWiki/SweetDreamsFuel of ''[=MeepCity=]'' itself. Even the detractors claim that the ''[=MeepCity=]'' music is good.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSrM0SVIMas "Crossroad Times"]] mixes ClassicalMusic into a hip hop-style beat, and the two compliment each other surprisingly well.
** For some time, audio flagged as copyrighted on the platform would be replaced with [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uee4AtqIlTk a selection of tracks]], a lot of which are pretty good. Most of them are bossa nova and jazz-style tracks from APM Music with smooth and/or nostalgic flavors, but special mention goes to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cvrRy6ho3s "No More"]] by Dave Rosenholz for its very impressive dramatic string sections and overall "on the move" hurried feeling.
* BestLevelEver: Some users have made things that are truly badass. Like:
** '''''Cruiser: Hyperspace'''''. It can easily be confused for a flash game, and even the creators ''themselves'' like it! Probably the best usage of scripts and [=GUIs=] in ''any'' place.
** 2D games when there are 3D games? Holy hell, Mr. Miyamoto.
** [[http://www.roblox.com/games/292439477/Phantom-Forces-Beta Phantom Forces]]. This particular game carries a ''lot'' of weight for being incredibly polished and balanced, with no pay-to-win mechanics to boot.
** Two words: [[https://www.roblox.com/games/1600503/Apocalypse-Rising Apocalypse Rising.]]
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: In ''Pinewood Computer Core'', [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmFiycMHnjQ sometimes aliens will arrive at the mainframe and host a random dance party]], which isn't mentioned again.
* BreatherLevel:
** Freeze-Tag in Roblox Summer Tournament 2018, for its objective of simply winning a special round was a heck a lot easier than The Doom Wall's and Spawn Wars'.
** [[https://www.roblox.com/games/1314126235/AQUAMAN-Feed-Your-Pets Feed Your Pets]] is this for the ''Film/Aquaman2018'' event. The objectives here are significantly easier than the hub game and the two other side games'[[note]]Bandit Simulator and Booga Booga[[/note]], as they're both {{Fetch Quest}}s for sapphires and pearls that happen to be abundant.
** Metaverse Champions had a few objectives that were easy for players to obtain, which had the side-effect of boosting the champion's place depending on which champion the game supported. Some examples include.
*** ''Field Trip Z'''s mystery box objective for Week 2 of Metaverse Champions is... simply joining the game. Granted, it's rather lacking, but for those that had just completed an insanely hard mystery box objective, this can be a sign of relief compared to the others. [[note]]The developers of Field Trip Z confirmed they were nowhere near fitting or ready for the event, but Roblox insisted they participate.[[/note]]
*** Similarly, ''Shoot Out'''s mystery box objective can be obtained by simply going to the Metaverse Champions challenges. Considering that AJ Striker had a major disadvantage early on, this was a relief to his supporters.
*** Sparks Kilowatt's objective for ''Destined To Fail'', while not exactly quite as easy as the above two, can be completed ''very easily'', likely because it's mostly a movie about everything going wrong, and it can be done in less than five minutes.
*** Fey Yoshida's objective for ''Speed Run Simulator'' involves simply entering the Metaverse Event obby. Considering that the only challenge is to get your character fast enough to reach the objective, this can be rather easy depending on how fast you can click.
* BrokenBase:
** To this day, there are still people upset over the removal of the Tickets currency system and people telling them to get over it. Some say that the changing state of Roblox's economy caused Tickets to lose their value over time and that it was fine to limit earning and spending to a single currency, while others regard it as the worst example of Roblox's AllegedlyFreeGame status.
** [[ScrewedByTheLawyers The removal of copyrighted audio]] snapped the Roblox community in half. One half were happy that Roblox is free from potential legal trouble and they would no longer listen to [[NostalgiaFilter annoying mainstream pop songs]]. The other half were sad that they could no longer hear their favorite songs and have to resort to a bland majority of the non-APM audio left.
** The Rthro designs. Many players loathe them for straying even further from Roblox's original blocky aesthetic than packages did and feeling that they dip into the UnintentionalUncannyValley (to the point that "Uncanny Valley" was the nickname these members of the community used before the official name was revealed), while others see more realistic bodies as the logical next step in the evolution of Roblox's visual design and don't mind them.
** The monetization of plugins, a game asset type, (the ability to sell them for Robux) and plans to eventually monetize the rest of the game asset types, including models and decals. Some were happy that Roblox would be going the professional route, like UsefulNotes/{{Unity}}'s Asset Store, some were upset and feared new, usually Robuxless developers would be discouraged (aka another AllegedlyFreeGame example).
* CheeseStrategy: On games that have Private Servers enabled, this can be an easy way to get a badge if the event associated with the game has an objective that's multiplayer-related. Naturally, some have tried to counter this with either temporarily raising the price of Private Servers or downright temporarily disabling them, much to the playerbase's annoyance.
* CompleteMonster ("[[https://mythcommunity.fandom.com/wiki/The_Smiles_Family The Smiles Family]]"): [[EldritchAbomination DIAM0NDEYES]] crashed on Earth before the dinosaurs came to existence and, for an unknown amount of time, corrupted humans into killing others. In 1936, [=DIAM0NDEYES=] convinced Lloyd Joe that she can bring back his dead brother Roy if he kills 50 people in a mansion, and after Lloyd did it, [=DIAM0NDEYES=] revived Roy, only to corrupt both him and Lloyd into her minions. In the present day, [=DIAM0NDEYES=] repeatedly tries and fails to manipulate Albert into killing [[WouldHurtAChild the children]] of the Smiles Family. After Robert Smiles refuses to murder someone, [=DIAM0NDEYES=] corrupts and [[PsychicAssistedSuicide makes Robert kill himself]], using his corpse as another minion. After [[SiblingMurder killing her brother]], kidnapping the children herself and trapping them inside a staff, [=DIAM0NDEYES=] reveals her plans to [[OmnicidalManiac tear Earth into pieces]] and then pulls one last unsuccessful attempt at making Albert kill the children, this time by making them fall into a pit that would erase them from existence.
* CrossesTheLineTwice: [[https://twitter.com/AlbertsStuff/status/1253361714126602240 This parody of]] ''Adopt Me!'': '''''Abort''' Me!''
* DemonicSpiders: From the 2010 egg hunt, the Radioactive Egg of Undead Apocalypse constantly spawned zombies (until picked up) that were immune to most non-explosives, faster than the average player, and did fatal amounts of damage in a split-second while ignoring spawn forcefields whenever any part of its body was touched (even when dead), making visitors to places without weapons officially screwed.
* EsotericHappyEnding: Parodied in ''VideoGame/DespicableForces''. [[spoiler:After Mel has been defeated and he goes back to normal, Young Gru says "[[VideoGame/SonicAdventure All's well that ends well]]," before cutting to the city in ruin with people screaming in the background.]]
* FandomEnragingMisconception: Call ''Roblox'' a ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}'' clone, prepare for several long essays about their development histories and all the ways that the games differ from each other. Not to mention the fact that ''Roblox'' came first.
* FandomRivalry: Most players during 07-08 suffered from the illusion that they were at a war with ''VideoGame/{{Blockland}}''. Then it was ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}''. However, it has mostly died out, though it still persists among people unfamiliar with ROBLOX.
** Another brief example took place with ''VideoGame/LEGOUniverse''. To the surprise of many, ROBLOX emerged [[DarkhorseVictory the victor]] when ''Universe'' [[ScrewedByTheNetwork shut down]].
** Interestingly, a small percentage of newer users seem to believe they're fighting with ''VideoGame/{{Fortnite}}'' now, despite the two games not even being remotely similar.
** Whenever a "leader" manages to popularize a genre on ''Roblox'', expect multiple developers to make games that follow the same pattern. As a result, it's not uncommon to find certain playerbases arguing over which one is the better game, especially regarding the rivalries between the playerbases of ''Piggy'' and ''Bakon'', which reached to the point where the one of the developers of that game had to ask fans to ''stop raiding the other game's Discord servers''.
** Another example would be the rivalries between ''Critical Strike'' and its SpiritualSuccessor, ''Project Submus Accudo''. While these games had bad blood between each other due to allegations of [=EpicCritical=], the creator of ''Critical Strike'', sexually preying on minors, when [=EpicCritcal=] announced his return to develop the remaining classes, the sudden PopularityPolynomial caused by his return caused the fandom of ''Project Submus Accudo'' to fly into a rage, and unlike what happened to ''Piggy'', the moderators of ''Project Submus Accudo'''s Discord server ''encouraged'' attacking ''Critical Strike'' and their fanbase.
** Blox Fruits vs Grand Piece Online vs King's Legacy: Due to the notorious similarities between these games, there has been a debate betweeen these games who is the best.
** Blox Fruits vs Royale High: These two Roblox games has gone a rivalry due to being considered gender-oriented Roblox games among the community.
** Blox Fruits vs Brookhaven: Most popular Roblox game.
* FandomSpecificPlot: Roblox Bullying Stories, which have a person getting picked on by TheBully and then either the person's friends support them and fight back or the bully takes a HeelFaceTurn and apologizes. They are infamous for {{Cliche|Storm}} and {{Narm}}y plots involving a {{Flat|Character}} rich kid bullying a helpless noob or Guest and {{Anvilicious}} PowerOfFriendship and "bullying is wrong" messages.
* FanNickname:
** Free users are typically referred to by the unofficial name "[=NBCers=]", or '''N'''on-'''B'''uilders' '''C'''lub.
** "Bacon Noobs", for users who use the standard male avatar which came with a hairpiece called "Pal Hair", which has an overall shape and texture heavily resembling bacon.
* FranchiseOriginalSin:
** Regarding ''Roblox'' as a whole:
*** A major criticism of Rthro is how they look [[UnintentionalUncannyValley way too human]] to the point where they clashed with the blocky nature of the game. However, this was not just the first example: The Robloxian 3.0 body received criticism, however that was mostly because their faces were completely out of place and their body meshes caused their clothing to be messed up. The bodies still managed to fit the "LEGO-esque" design, so they were accepted. Even the Robloxian 2.0 figure still had the "LEGO-esque" design. However, when Rthro was announced, it did not have the "LEGO-esque" design and looked a lot more like an action figure, resulting in major criticism from users.
** Regarding experiences:
*** One of the major criticisms of [=xKenis=]' ''Defend the Statue'' remake was the inability to save weapons throughout all servers. However, the original place actually did not support the ability to save weapons either, though that was because it was mostly a very old game, so that was considered to be acceptable as there was a lack of a universal saving system back then. Come the remake, and games similar to it had either obtained a saving system or had weapons that were very easy to obtain and thus, really didn't need a saving system, and the remake's continued refusal to support a proper weapon save system, combined with [[DearNegativeReader xKenis' rather aggressive reactions towards the complaints regarding the Anti-Hog system]], resulted in numerous complaints that continue to plague the game to the point where eventually, legitimate players stopped playing the game altogether, leaving it very vulnerable to an upsurge of hackers and exploiters, leading to the place being shut down.
*** One of the major criticisms involving ''Rogue Lineage'' was for its focus on [=PvP=] in a game where {{Permadeath}} is common. However, its predecessor, ''Tales of the Valley'', also had [=PvP=] as one of its major points, but that was mitigated because it was mostly faction-based, and there exists no permadeath mechanic. By contrast, its prequel not only has [=PvP=] as part of its mechanics, but also made it into a free-for-all while also adding permadeath ''and'' made it so that the majority of classes require you to engage in [=PvP=], which when combined a lack of tutorial on [[GuideDangIt where to go]], made it heavily disliked and niche as a result. Fortunately, the dev team learned from this major mistake and later made an SpiritualAntithesis called ''VideoGame/{{Deepwoken}}'', which also has permadeath, but with an high focus on [=PvE=] rather than [=PvP=], and made an way to engage in [=PvP=] safely for a few times that can simply be regenerated by waiting, not to mention how they also added a tutorial to at least help newbies learn the basics of the game, but this came back in full force when the Verse 2 update added 3 [=PvP=] Oaths, one of the most notorious being Contractor, which required you to grip ''10'' players with Oaths in the Depths, which meant that their character will be wiped when they died, resulting in an massive uproar that ended with the Oath's designer, Ragoozer reducing the grip requirement to 3, but the fact that you have to grip people in the Depths, combined with Contractor being massively overpowered and you have an Oath that is [[HighTierScrappy widely disliked]][[note]]While the other oaths require player grips, Starkindred merely has only one player grip, and Linkstrider requires a huge amount of cooperation, since trying to sacrifice players with Oaths is impossible since it requires 4 players with Oaths and they have to be a separate Oath, while the Voidwalker origin isn't just limited to the Depths in spite of having a much higher grip requirement, since overworld deaths can be recovered by leveling up or escaping the Depths.[[/note]].
* FriendlyFandoms:
** Loomian Legacy and Doodle World, as both are spiritual successors of Roblox Franchise/{{Pokemon}} games that got copyrighted. Though arguments do sometimes pop up over [[ScheduleSlip who has a better release schedule]] or overlapping Mon designs.
* GameBreaker:
** Back in the second iteration of Sword Fight on the Heights, the Ice Dagger was this in spades. Unlike the rest of the swords in the game, the dagger was a ''guaranteed one-hit kill''. All you had to do was simply touch a player with it, and they would freeze for about a second before dying instantly. It was completely out of balance with the regular sword and the Firebrand, and the brief period of immobilization usually wasn't enough to get the holder of it finished off (since it's really easy to just move out of the way). When that version was still popular, there was usually an unspoken rule to simply not use the Ice Dagger since everyone generally agreed it made the game less fun. Thankfully, once SFOTH 3 came out, it was rebalanced so that it needed a warm-up first and that it couldn't affect people holding the Firebrand, reworking it into a more strategic weapon.
** Several Catalog Gears are banned from Catalog Heaven, a game otherwise designed around letting people test any item, for being too powerful. To name a few:
*** The Flaming Hedgehog Cannon was notorious on Catalog Heaven for being able to fire OneHitKO {{Homing Projectile}}s, as well as not being a banned gear for a while.
*** Stop Hitting Yourself, as the name implies, forces a selected player to slowly hurt themselves until they die. The reason it's so powerful is that once the red laser targets a player, they have no way to fight back to protect themselves.
*** Airstrike is slow to start, but once the summoned jet arrives, the OneHitKO missiles it fires at the selected area means that anyone in range of the explosions are as good as dead.
*** Free item Scaley, the Dragon was almost immediately nerfed because the poison from the arrows it fires at players was so strong that they would almost immediately offset the low damage the arrows themselves deal and kill the player. Despite the nerf, Scaley is still banned at Catalog Heaven.
*** R-Orb turns the player into a [[Franchise/DragonBall Super Saiyan Goku]] ShoutOut complete with flight and a Spirit Bomb that will instantly kill anyone at max charge.
*** Ninja Blink Potion can let players teleport through walls, a massive breaker to games that rely on doors with special access.
*** Hyperlaser Gun and its variants are one of the few OneHitKO gear that isn't slow to fire, making anyone armed with one a massive danger to anyone.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff:
** Starting in 2016, non-English-speaking players, who mostly spoke Spanish, crowded popular games. Roblox answered this by introducing localization tools in 2018.
** Anime Fighters Simulator is more popular by portuguese-speaking players than by english-speaking players and became one of most popular experiences in Roblox by portuguese-speaking players, to the point that there is numerous portuguese-sepaking YouTubers that mainly focus about that game.
** More than half of the total players that play Roblox today, speak other languages than english.
** The country that has the most searches about Roblox on Google? Philippines. How? Go to Google Trends, search Roblox, change from your country to worldwide, go down and you will see that has more interest in Philippines than any other country in the world, that's all, and even outspaces Minecraft in searches! In addition to it, is the 4th country worldwide to have the most Roblox players, only behind United Kingdom, Brazil and United States.
** Roblox is also big in Brazil thanks to big Portuguese Youtubers such as Julia MineGirl and Robin Hood Gamer, who makes frequent Roblox videos in their channels in Portuguese. It is the second country in the world to have the most Roblox players, only United States has greater players than Brazil.
** Roblox has many players hailing from Peru, to the point that has many popular Roblox YouTubers living in Peru.
** Rainbow Friends has many countries in Latin America that searches more the name than any other country worldwide! (with the exception of Philippines and Venezuela)
* GirlShowGhetto: In spite of being one of the most popular games, many male players do not like ''[[https://www.roblox.com/games/735030788/Royale-High Royale High]]'' for being too feminine for them. [[note]]It should be noted however that Royale High seems to cater to to a ''specifically'' female audience and does not offer as many to no options for males than females in things like outfit sets and accessories in its history.[[/note]]
* GoodBadBugs:
** If badly scripted, enemy humanoids and entities may spawn with only their heads and torso, and if they're carrying a weapon, it'll appear near them instead of them carrying it. This is especially useful in older RPG-style games since you can't get hurt if this happens, unless the torso and/or head is scripted to deal damage on contact.
** 2014 featured a glitch where the light for avatar renders would sometimes be so bright that white body parts would blend into the white background the website used at the time and make them impossible to see. While it was eventually patched, fans embraced this "invisible glitch" back in the day and seeing avatars where people would try to make portions of their bodies appear missing or color everything but their head white while wearing a shirt of a tiny body (usually a stick figure) was not uncommon.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** This game made a huge deal out of hats a few years before it became the main joke about ''VideoGame/TeamFortress2''.
** There was a case of the other way around too. At the end of 2014, ''Team Fortress 2'' was going to have a new map but it was removed from the update it was going to be in due to Valve deeming the map "too confusing for new players". When tickets were phased out in ROBLOX, one of the reasons the blog said that they were being removed was because the staff considered them to be "confusing to first-time users". This quickly became MemeticMutation and people have jokingly said that being "too confusing for new players" was the reason why certain things were removed or simplified since then.
* HarsherInHindsight: The Hazmat Isolation Helmet hat had a second sentence, which was "Someone's put ''Ebola'' in the water supply." That sentence has been removed since 2014.
* ItsEasySoItSucks: The Roblox Creator Challenges, in particular, are criticized for being ''way'' too easy. The quizzes given do not punish the players for wrong answers and will give the prize if they manage to complete the quiz no matter how much wrong answers they gave, which undermines the purpose of following the lessons with Roblox Studio.
* ItsHardSoItSucks: Some events can be faced with this if the developers try too hard to turn up the difficulty. A notable example would be the [[OvershadowedByControversy infamous]] ''Film/ReadyPlayerOne'' event.
** The ''Film/Aquaman2018'' event has also received this. Destroying even a level ''one'' MechaMook in the main game was frustrating, even more frustrating with the lag. The objectives throughout the event are tedious and time-consuming, although ''Feed Your Pets''' {{Fetch Quest}}s managed to be [[BreatherLevel quite easy.]] (Fortunately, the developers [[WinBackTheCrowd responded]] by giving XP boosts to those under-level and reducing the difficulty of the Trial of Strength.)
** Outside of events, ''Rogue Lineage'' is heavily criticized by some for being '''''extremely''''' unfriendly towards newbies (to the point where even using in-game microtransactions to reincarnate into a stronger character will still get your butt kicked). Reading a guide is practically mandatory, and even then you'll be likely to lose all 3 lives within ''seconds''.
* ItsPopularNowItSucks:
** Some of the older players admit to having preferred ''Roblox'' back when it had a smaller playerbase and feel that the game becoming "mainstream" ([[TheyChangedItNowItSucks and the changes made to accommodate for that]]) has "ruined it".
** ''Adopt Me'' tends to get flak for having ridiculous amounts of players in their game, to the point where they ''crashed'' servers because of how ''Roblox'' couldn't handle the massive playerbase, and is accused of jacking up massive amounts of ping for other games.
** ''Pet Simulator X'', aside from being one of the most popular experiences on ''Roblox'', got flack for being a Simulator game in which everyone has grown tired of, but what really placed it in "sucks" territory that it was found out that the game's creator, [=prest4n=], was found not just using [=NFTs=] (i.e. Non-Fungible Tokens), but also was using racial slurs as well. Because of these, many detest the game's popularity and have sparked movements to get the game delisted from ''Roblox''.
* ItsTheSameNowItSucks:
** Obstacle courses (typically shortened to Obbies) are one of the worst offenders to this. All of them have things that have been used a million times before, such as balance beams, lava jumps (checkerboards are popular in this category), small platforms, invisible walkways, mazes, and quizzes. To a more extreme extent, most obstacles can be put in two categories - jumping over things and jumping over holes.
** Tycoons, simulators (with at least [[VideoGame/BeeSwarmSimulator one exception]] depending on who you ask), and to a lesser extent ''Camping''-inspired story games tend to get this reaction as well.
* JustHereForGodzilla:
** A lot of people only buy the toys for the included virtual items. In addition, quite a lot of players only play event games for the prizes - typically those who haven't played the place before.
** When the forums were still around, many users came to Roblox just to use them. This fact and a stolen account [[PaedoHunt linking child porn]] in October 2017, were the most likely reasons Roblox removed the forums.
* LootDrama: While many Limited items can cause drama enough if they're highly valued, the most notorious example that isn't an Limited but timed-exclusive has to be the Headless Head, which is only available by purchasing the Headless Horseman costume on Halloween, which is worth about '''31,000 Robux''' (Equivalent to $387.50). Because of these, many people have to resort to extreme measures to obtaining the item, whether it be using debit cards from their parents without permission, stealing money, etc. The problem grew only worse when UGC was announced, in which certain creators require it to "complete" their design, such as making it so that not even reducing head size can fix not meshing with it well.
* MemeticBadass: [[https://www.youtube.com/user/C0N0RB0B/ Conor3D]], known as the go-to guy for Roblox event guides, has attracted endless jokes about how he's able to complete hard objectives in a single try and upload the videos in a short amount of time before the other players do.
* MemeticLoser: Once the final world for the 2014 Egg Hunt became available and it was discovered that the player could [[VideoGameCrueltyPotential kill Lucky Lapin right after rescuing him]], it became a common joke to say that poor Lucky would never truly be saved because of disgruntled egg hunters taking their frustrations out on him for only having [[AWinnerIsYou "Thanks!"]] to say in response to all the pain they went through collecting his lost eggs.
* MemeticMutation: Has its own page [[Memes/{{Roblox}} here]].
** A meta/in-universe example: the team is quite fond of including memes in item descriptions.
* MisBlamed:
** ''Adopt Me'' is often blamed for server issues whenever a major update is released, due to the massive influx of players coming in at once to see the new content. However, in one case, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lw1Gihnpj9Y KonekoKitten had to point out]] that [[NotMeThisTime they weren't at fault for that day's server outages]], as they happened ''2 hours'' before the update was released.
** The platform had experienced an outage that lasted three days in October of 2021. Because this happened shortly after the Chipotle Boo-Rito Maze event launched, which offered a free burrito to the first 5,000 players to create a burrito in-game, many people claimed this was DemandOverload. Roblox later confirmed that the issue was not related to the event, but rather an internal issue.
** This was also the case during a period where Roblox would have an outage every Saturday around noon, which happens to be the schedule of new Pet Simulator X updates.
* {{Narm}}: Cicada's EvilLaugh before his boss fight in ''Heroes of Robloxia''. Not only is it a generic "Mwa Ha Ha", but he has the gall to [[PunctuatedForEmphasis punctuate it for emphasis]], without any punctuation, to boot.
* ObviousBeta: ''[[https://www.roblox.com/games/1134103575/UPDATE-Mountaineers Mountaineers]]'', which was created for the ''Roblox Holiday 2017'' event, was criticized to death, because of its (appropriate) mountain of glitches for the player to climb. Its notable GameBreakingBug is rock fish spawning on land, thus not able to be fished.
* OlderThanTheyThink:
** Some people think that Roblox copied ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}'', without realizing that Roblox came out in 2004 and Minecraft in 2009.
** Specifically, many newcomers called ''Prison Life'' a ripoff of ''Jailbreak''. ''Prison Life'' was released in 2014, 3 years before ''Jailbreak''.
* OvershadowedByControversy: Has its own page [[OvershadowedByControversy/{{Roblox}} here]].
* ParanoiaFuel: [[https://www.roblox.com/games/14581464815/UPDATE-the-waiting-room the waiting room]] (yes, the title is AllLowercaseLetters) is built on this. It starts simple enough: with you in a waiting room before going out to explore a labyrinth...but then things get weird. You soon discover that there are actually [[MesACrowd multiple copies of players in the server]], that are equipped with an [=AI=] to move around and ''talk'' like other players.
* PopularityPolynomial: ''Doomspire Brickbattle'' used to be a popular game in the early days of ''Roblox'', but then people forgot about it and stopped playing it. In 2017, the game became popular again due to advertising and promotion.
* ScrappyMechanic:
** "Menu Chat", also known as "Safe Chat", [[OldShame in the days when it existed]]. It took the form of a sort of DialogueTree-based chat function, and was almost totally useless for meaningful communication compared to the more conventional user-typed "Text Chat". Worse, if you were under 13, you were forced to use nothing but Menu Chat. Even the developers themselves admitted it was pretty stupid, and eventually removed it entirely.
** The profanity filter that replaced it is also strongly disliked, though to a lesser degree. It's rather ''peculiar'' about what it censors; for instance, words like "[[DidNotDoTheBloodyResearch twat]]" go straight through, yet [[BleepDammit often perfectly innocent words]] or even ''people's names'' get rendered into [[SymbolSwearing strings of pound signs]] or [Content Deleted]. In an amusing bit of meta-censorship, the word "censored" occasionally gets censored. As of February of 2017, the filter was strengthened and regular common day words such as "my", "I", "you", "a", "as", "or", and so on can be censored. The filter's also inconsistent about if it censors a certain word or not.
** [[AlasPoorScrappy Back when they were a thing]], Guests were often criticized by the community for essentially being a magnet to inexperienced players who had less features than those with established accounts, or worse, a way for exploiters and hackers to mess with people while avoiding bans.
** While the removal of tickets is [[BrokenBase still divisive]], one common argument for their removal is their exchange rates. Initially, ten tickets could be exchanged for one robux and vice-versa, but whatever system controlled the value of tickets eventually decreased the amount of tickets needed for one robux, and exchanging the same amount of robux would often yield ''less'' tickets. If you wanted to sell something with the option of either using robux of tickets, good luck figuring out the right prices to get the same value no matter which currency someone chose.
** Price floors for clothing were met with immediate disdain and were quickly lowered in response with further gradual decrease overtime. The reason? The original price floor meant that someone who only had access to tickets (back when they were a thing) would have to wait for ''a full month'' of daily currency to get one shirt or pants when they could be free prior.
** The marketplace fee. Essentially, users will be granted 70% of profits from items they sell rather than the exact price. While this is done to help balance the game's economy, it can be frustrating for players with less resources and popularity as it is harder for them to make the difference. It was especially bad during a period where all users without Premium would only get ''30%'' of profits, with the marketplace fee thankfully made the same amount for all players again later on.
** Sometimes, in events, they would offer a grand prize for being one of the first players to complete the objective. This has been criticized for sparking massive amounts of LootDrama, especially if the game was [[ObviousBeta completely unplayable on release]]. The ''Literature/ReadyPlayerOne'' event is especially notorious given that it resulted in the winner, [=r0cu=] being doxxed. This is especially annoying if the players live in different time zones, which can make scheduling even harder.
** The Interact button is achieved by not pressing the button, but holding it down for a certain amount of time. However, said process can easily be interrupted by a player blocking the pathway to the interaction, which became especially problematic in ''The Floor Is Lava'' objective for ''The Hunt'' since getting the badge required you to hold down the interaction button for ''several second'', and right after an obby to boot. Unsurprisingly, some experiences use various other mechanics for interactions instead.
** For games themselves:
*** ''Defend the Statue'' is a nice remake of an old ''ROBLOX'' game with the same name. The concept is simple; Fend off waves of enemies and bosses that wish to damage and eventually destroy the large statue. However, one update caused the player base over there to ''explode'' in rage: the Anti-Hog mechanic. In theory, it was supposed to prevent players from hogging most of the contributions of damaging bosses, but in practice, leads to a massive UnstableEquilibrium in which even decent players who join later CantCatchUp, and experienced players who stayed longer can't act as a CrutchCharacter to them, since they have to slow down in order for them to have their damage contributions fall below 40% in order to not get an Anti-Hog warning (getting 3 would downright ''kick'' you from the server). The massive amount of frustration caused by this mechanic caused the game's rating ratio to dive from a 89% to a 81% as of September 13, 2020, and to make matters worse, the developers have defended the mechanic, stating the above theory while claiming that the players affected by the mechanic should blame their team for being unable to catch up, which only worsened tensions to the point where they had to add a new rule which basically forbade them from complaining about in-game mechanics, which many players saw this as a form of censorship and CantTakeCriticism. Unsurprisingly, the remake went from a interesting idea that helped reintroduce a older game to a new audience to a prime example of "don't fix what hasn't been broken", and basically ruined any chance of it having a decent following on par with the remake of ''Zeppelin Wars''. Eventually, the developers relented, and have since replaced the mechanic with a much more lenient system known as the Anti-Greed mechanic, which merely reduces your monetary reward for hogging over 50% of the boss damage, which is agreed to be less frustrating than the former mechanic, though the fact that Rule 17 still exists still remains a massive sore spot among current and former players, which likely [[OvershadowedByControversy contributed to its negative image]] to the point where legitimate players stopped playing the game and more exploiters and cheaters played it, and led to the game being locked away for a while.
*** Speaking of which, while ''Zeppelin Wars'' is mostly well-received for the most part, one of the major criticisms of the game is the ''lack of one such mechanic''. While some competitive games either auto-balance highly-leveled players to ensure a fair game, this is not the case here. Unfortunately, this means that should one team win a gamemode, this creates a massive UnstableEquilibrium in which highly-leveled players and others will gravitate towards the team that won in the previous round, resulting in players refusing to join teams because they cannot join the team that won last round, resulting in a vicious cycle of toxicity among players. There was an update which outright hid the player levels to prevent this issue, but after the testing phase, it was later moved to a (admittedly) decent mechanic where players above level 100 are force-teleported into the Banishlands, essentially the game's version of Ranked Mode (though players above level 30 can join), giving out double EXP over there. The testing phase for this was an overall success, and is announced to come soon alongside ''slightly'' hiding the players' levels via a rank group system, but time will tell if it curbs the issue or not.
*** ''Polybattle'' is basically a SpiritualSuccessor to ''VideoGame/{{Battlefield}}'', except that it takes some things that the original had and made those worse. For starters, the DPS various guns had wouldn't look out of place for {{Hero Shooter}}s such as ''VideoGame/TeamFortress2'' and ''VideoGame/{{Overwatch}}'', but the fact that this is set in a realistic battlefield setting is incredibly off-putting and clashes heavily with the game design. For starters, a normal headshot that would normally kill a person in 1-3 hits actually results in taking ''several'' headshots to even put down one person (and earlier versions were worse: they didn't even ''have'' a headshot bonus multiplier, basically making snipers, especially the [[ScrappyWeapon Dragunov]] almost useless). Later updates made it so that gun damage was more impactful, making to that it takes ''much less'' bullets to kill a player.
*** On a lesser note, most games with team balancing at least allow only one team to have more than 1 player than the other team to prevent imbalance issues from existing, and the only time this is broken is when either it's a "one-man juggernaut against everyone" mode or it's an infection mode. ''Polybattle'' and ''Flag Wars''[[note]]A modern remake of ''The Underground War'', and one of the most polished ones on the platform as of late 2021[[/note]], on the other hand, allows a team to have more than ''2'' players than the other team. This can potentially result in an unfair advantage in which the other team is curb-stomping the other because the sheer amount of players prevent the other team from having an advantage at all. The former eventually [[AuthorsSavingThrow removed the ability to join teams that have more than 2 players than the other team]] for players with the VIP Pass, changing the benefit to an exclusive sidearm instead.
*** ''Anomalous Activities'', based on the ''VideoGame/TheHiddenSource'' has a ''lot'' of mechanics that make the game unbearable to play as a Anomaly. For one, the Pigstick was heavily nerfed by gibbing corpses, which is bad since gibbed corpses don't heal the anomaly, the lack of a cooldown timer to know when Terror form is available, which can be already painful since reverting back to anomaly form nets you a ''massive'' cooldown timer which can potentially last until reinforcements arrive to pummel you down, anom chance can be only increased by performing three objectives very well (anom damage, Terror form damage, Anchors activated), the latter which is most reliable, but most games are likely to end before that and if you die, you're out of luck. Most infamously, the game ''deducts your anomaly chance if you chose to not play as anomaly''. This can be quite painful since Anomalies typically do not want to play in certain levels such as [[ThatOneLevel Hospital]], but not doing so deducts your anomaly chance. All in all, this game made the anomaly not fun to play as, and is seen as gone from his former glory from the beta where he was much better.
*** Most Tycoon games in Roblox allows the player to collect objects generated from their tycoon and deposit it for money. ''making memes in your basement at 3 AM tycoon'', however, imposes a limit to uploading your memes obtained by you and your workers, and it's done horrendously- any excess memes over the upload limit will get corrupted and rendered worthless. This has been criticized for causing massive OCD among players because if there is ''even one'' meme over the upload limit, it's instantly rendered worthless as it gets corrupted instantly. This is also the reason why the Auto-Collect gamepass is a massive PowerUpLetdown unless if it's paired with the other gamepass Infinite Storage, meaning that together, you have to spend at least 998 Robux ($12.48), which is almost the same price as the Instant Upload gamepass.
* SelfFanservice:
** Depictions of the normally-blocky and simplistic Robloxians as usually {{Animesque}} humans is common. Helped by that Rthro exists.
** Some creators on Roblox Studio where they put large breasts and [[HartmanHips curvy bodies]] on characters ([[GenderFlip genderswaped]] or not) are known as [[Rule63 R63]].
* SequelDifficultySpike: ''RB Battles Season 3'' is much tougher compared to ''Season 2'', owning to much more challenging quests from within the user-created games. Oh, and while the final battle for ''RB Battles Season 3'' is less buggy, it makes up for it by being more consistently difficult, forcing you to solve a puzzle from ''the very first stage''.
* ShockingMoments:
** The [[https://twitter.com/Simbuilder/status/1199430887219163136 announcement]] that ''Vehicle Simulator'' would have an official crossover with '''Toys/HotWheels''' came entirely out of the left field, since official collaborations with non-Roblox companies was thought to be a pipe dream ever since monthly events were purged.
** The fact that ''Adopt Me'' somehow managed to get at least ''1.6 Million'' concurring players due to the pet dress-up update caused major shocks around the community, especially since now it stands as the world record, even surpassing ''VideoGame/CounterStrike: Global Offensive''! And if that wasn't enough, the reveal of the Fossil Egg caused the player count to skyrocket to ''1.8 Million'' concurring players!
* SidetrackedByTheGoldSaucer: ''Welcome to Bloxburg'' has life simulation a la ''VideoGame/TheSims'', with gameplay-affecting stats and jobs. The very versatile building feature, where you can build virtually anything of your dreams, is often focused on by players and much of ''Bloxburg'' documentation is to this.
* SoBadItsGood: Chances are if you click on and play one of the 90% of all games on Roblox, it'll be a ludicrous lump of free models and all sorts of crudeness that end up becoming hilarious and fun to gimmick with for hours. [[https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSSfq3nNRhpV7uh0NfBYxvg Remainings]] covers these sort of games.
* SongAssociation:
** Try to find ''anyone'' who doesn't think of Badliz's "The Great Strategy" as the Roblox theme song (it was the iconic music used in the original 2006 trailer, and a few more after). Just try. Even a remake of it posted on his official channel is filled with comments that are all Roblox-related. Not necessarily a bad thing, as it also gave him quite a bit of publicity.
** "Here We Go" by Giants of Industry, thanks to its usage in the Roblox Anthem Video, is known as the "Roblox anthem". [[RevivalByCommercialization It's also Giants of Industry's]] SignatureSong.
* StopHavingFunGuys: There are players who have their own strict rules for how someone should make a game and discourage even minor usage of free models (such as free model scripts) or other features at a builder's disposal.
* SugarWiki/SweetDreamsFuel: [[https://www.roblox.com/games/920587237/ Adopt Me!]] is a happy roleplaying game where you can roam the happy little cute Adoption Island and take care of your babies and pets. Turns out, it's a very deliberate example, as the result of [[CreatorRecovery a depressed developer trying to find and spread happiness]].
* TaintedByThePreview: While Metaverse Champions replacing the Egg Hunts already meant it had an uphill battle to win over the fanbase, the fact that the initially revealed rewards was only Rthro packages caused massive backlash from the fanbase, who saw this as the company further pushing Rthro into their faces and replacing a well-beloved tradition with a lesser one. It took the revelation of a free item from the winning champion and the secret prize being [[spoiler:Tiny Egg of Nonexistence]] get the fanbase over with it.
* ThatOneAchievement:
** Any event item that must be spawned by a specific person, such as the Egg Hunt's traditional Admin Egg (gets spawned by a ROBLOX admin). Ignoring how the number of people who can spawn these items is generally under 100, actually getting into the same server as them is a challenge because the objective encourages bunching into a single server of limited space, and there's usually nothing forcing people to actually ''leave'' once they acquired the item. The introduction of VIP servers helped to alleviate this as, assuming that the game allows for them, one could either invite someone who can spawn the item to a server they can perform crowd control on, or get invited to a server the person is offering.
** The 2015 Egg Hunt's prizes for ''Twisted Murder'' were notorious at the time for being made very difficult due to the game's creator Taymaster desiring for the eggs from his game to be rare and increase their value should they ever become limited, but Phantom of the Egg takes the cake. When the Murderer dies in the Movie Theater map, there is a very low chance one Phantom of the Egg will spawn at their corpse. While ''Twister Murder'' had other eggs that rarely dropped when a specific player died, Phantom of the Egg is unique in that it requires a specific map for it to spawn at all, and it being connected to the death of the Murderer, an act that will trigger the end of the round no matter what, meant that everyone would only have a brief chance to collect it assuming it even appeared. To rub salt in the wound, once people found out they could make things easier with VIP servers, as the Movie Theater map would always be the first in rotation at the time, Taymaster updated the game to put the map ''last'' in the rotation to preserve the intended challenge.
** While getting the best of multiple endings is sometimes standard in ''Camping'' and its imitators, ''Aquarium'' stands out for its requirements alone. Said requirement? ''Every single player has to survive to the end''. [[NotMakingThisUpDisclaimer We're not joking about this]]. While the game is short, if even one person dies throughout the course of the game (which will happen at lot), it is impossible to achieve the best ending. This was thankfully resolved in a later update in which players can go solo, allowing them to get it if they prove to be decently competent at the game.
** Any Limited item that requires hours of grinding or even hours of '''game time''' can qualify sometimes.
* ThatOneDisadvantage: Of all the Metaverse Champions, AJ Striker, as of this time of writing, placed 2nd in the Metaverse Champions event on the first week. However, an major flaw could potentially affect the champion's placement. Why is that? Well for starters, to support a Metaverse Champion, you have to complete the place's badge associated with the Metaverse Champion. However, of those places, ''Emergency Response: Liberty County'', as of this writing, requires paid access to even play the game. This can be very frustrating for those with a very tight budget, and the creator's response that this was to prevent dislike bombs along with the fact that ROBLOX staff agreed with their decision to have stay under paid access is infuriating towards other players, who saw it as a major cop-out compared to ''The Wild West'', which at least went temporarily free-to-play for the Egg Hunt 2020 event, with [[https://twitter.com/KreekCraft/status/1382934636096061440?s=19 KreekCraft]] and [[https://youtu.be/97lzwB3T8Nc KonekoKitten]] voicing their discontent over this situation, and ER:LC [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking cannot be played on mobile as well]]. This went to the point where the game was ''[[https://twitter.com/Mrfergie_RBX/status/1383812636953903113?s=19 removed from the Metaverse Champions portal hub]]''.
* ThatOneLevel: [[ThatOneLevel/{{Roblox}} So many examples, they got their own page]].
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: Some players, notably older users, hate change. The pattern that seems to be repeating is that if someone stays with the game for a few years, they will consider the year they initially joined as their personal golden age, then complain about how "crap" the game is now. This isn't limited to one specific set of users either; 2007-08 users reject everything from 2010 onward, where users who joined between 2009 and 2012 consider those years the best ones while panning how bad it's gotten now. There doesn't seem to be an end to this cycle either. This has died down in recent times, as many people have realized through old ROBLOX simulators that old ROBLOX [[NostalgiaFilter wasn't as good as it seemed at the time]], along with newer ROBLOX updates increasing in quality around 2018.
** ''Roblox'' can release a new feature, but if it's for the Builder's Club and up, the non-Builder's Club members riot. It happens a lot, given how much they get updated.
** The 3.0 Bodies have been rejected by ''millions''. ''Roblox'' [[PolishTheTurd deleted negative comments to control the flow of feedback]], which would make their bodies look good.
** The 2013 Egg Hunt had a mechanic where eggs "hatched", having several of the eggs change into different items later into the event. This mechanic was never used again due to people disliking how the unique egg hats were replaced with more standard items, and couldn't be changed back.
** What the community calls "developer events"; halfway through the 2010s, ROBLOX introduced events where pre-existing games were given new objectives to gain exclusive items as opposed to an entirely new game being made specifically for the event. While some of the developers of the individual games make an effort to create a brand new experience unique to the event items, many players prefer the older style of event for featuring exclusively new content as opposed to reskinning a pre-existing game.
** The 2016 update that removed Tickets as a currency was almost universally hated at first. Not only did it [[ArtisticLicenseEconomics almost collapse the game's economy overnight]], it also removed the only source of income that non-developing players (read: 90% of the playerbase) had. Many believed Tickets (or Tix) were removed specifically to [[CorruptCorporateExecutive force everyone to buy Robux]]. Despite this, many older users in the community grew to understand the update much more, as it was an attempt to fix the ROBLOX economy (due to the Trade Currency system completely breaking it) and even admired it in some cases.
** At the beginning of 2017, Roblox changed its logo to what it looks like now with red text spelling it out, with a tilted square O. This let to many people absolutely hating the new logo, since they all think it is uncreative and too damn simple. It also made the famous R letter icon that symbolized Roblox, being replaced with the titled square O. Even the studs in games were replaced. It even led to plenty of funny jokes about the new logo, with people saying it looks like a Cheez-it, or a ripoff of the Domino's Pizza's logo.
** In July 2017, it was announced that the forums would be reduced from 16 subforums with various purposes, to a mere 5, all meant for exclusively ROBLOX discussion. The forum regulars nigh went into revolt. And if one looked at the new RN&D forum, they did not get on very well there. Ditto with the forums getting entirely removed in December of that year, though many people later realized that with the toxicity of the forums, they brought it on themselves.
** The "Anthro", later renamed "Rthro", models have gotten a lot of criticism for looking too much like normal humans and not blending well with the blocky nature of the game. When they were actually released in Q4 of 2018, some users actually took a liking to the new designs of the humanoids, while others found them SoBadItsGood and used their body parts along with already existing costumes/packages for surreal avatars.
** An update removed the active servers on a game's page, leaving you to only see servers which had your friends on it. Thankfully, the old format was reintroduced alongside the servers containing your friends.
** After word has popped up that ''Scrambled in Time'', the egg hunt of 2019, was going to be the last egg hunt (and ''last event in general''), and that [[https://devforum.roblox.com/t/roblox-2019-events-update/261441 all future game-related events on Roblox were being canceled to push an emphasis on community-created content via Live-Ops]], this absolutely broke the fanbase yet again with the vast majority had negative reactions to this, saying that the admins were getting rid of a site tradition. The backlash got so severe that Roblox [[https://devforum.roblox.com/t/an-update-on-live-ops/387186 decided to put Live-Ops on hold starting on November 21, 2019]], so that they can work out a way to improve the program while still making it entirely community-driven.
** In 2022, the famous “oof” sound effect was removed for copyright reasons, and the placeholder sound (“Deh!”) is just about universally hated by the fan base.
** ''Royale High'' used to be an innocent dress-up roleplay game centered around royalty and education. This became popular in the mid-to-late 2010s, as it's gameplay was rather simple and wasn't as city-based and exaggerated like it is today. Due to the more popularity and good comments the game received, the creator, callmehbob, removed the innocent models of the old heels into more adult-oriented and suggestive-looking shoeware, not to mention garterbelts being added. Not only were the heels changed, but more expensive accessories and even bodices and corsets were added to the shop and revealing clothing was added to the clothes options for the player, and as a result, looked {{Stripperiffic}}. The simple diamond models of the currency changed to heart gemstones. Many players complained about the new changes and even hated how the shoes, clothing, and accessories looked suggestive and that it lacked in body diversity.
* TheyCopiedItSoItSucks:
** Mad City was ''slammed'' with this when it blew up in January 2019; numerous players instantly complained that it was a copy of Jailbreak, and further investigation proved that it's a ripoff of ''Prison Life'' and the older game ''Redwood Prison'' as well.
** ''Jailbreak'' itself also got hit with this, with people believing it's a ripoff of Prison Life. [[CommonKnowledge This is not actually true; one of the co-owners of Jailbreak helped make Prison Life, in fact.]]
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot:
** The 2018 Hallow's Eve event had an interesting premise, with the event spanning across ''10'' games connected to a hub. Unfortunately, only 3 of the featured games (''Roblox Escape Room'', ''Robloxian High School'', and ''Darkenmoor'') had actual event objectives while the others had to be discovered through the hub to actually obtain the prizes, nothing more.
** Egg Hunt 2020: Agents of Egg had one egg in 53 different games. The main theme of the egg hunt was that you are an agent trying to collect the eggs. Almost all of the games featured in the event do not match the theme in any way.
* UglyCute: The realistic cursed goblins from "Goblin Island" fit this category. Despite looking like {{Uncanny Valley| Makeup}} movie production makeup, their tiny size make them this
* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: While Roblox itself is not this due to many updates that make the site look modern, most games and many avatar items reflect the time period they came out in.
* UnintentionalUncannyValley:
** An infamous group of developers had a practice of applying ultra-realistic faces to Roblox avatars. No wonder they were nicknamed the "Uncanny Valley Community". Just take [[https://pm1.narvii.com/6812/c7e216e73b7b4b616906418d51f33d1c5f1e34e1v2_00.jpg a look]].
** [[https://www.roblox.com/catalog/616381207/Friendly-Smile Friendly Smile]], with realistic eyes and shaded mouth. Many players found this face unsettling. This lead to it being parodied with [[https://www.roblox.com/games/5985232436/Infectious-Smile Infectious Smile]]
** [[https://www.roblox.com/catalog/86487700/Man-Face Man]] and [[https://www.roblox.com/catalog/86487766/Woman-Face Woman Face]] are also creepy, not being your usual BlackBeadEyes face. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTXbixD_6JU This video]] shows this with the latter.
** Rthro bundles are often combined with the usual Robloxian look to {{invoke|d}} the uncanny valley, such as using them in R6 form and Rthro faces on normal avatars, as shown [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vpp3Bi-DY4&t=2m15s here]]. In particular, the Music/LilNasX bundles, unlike other Rthro bundles, are realistic, which leads to people using the head parts of them to further invoke the uncanny valley.
** [[https://www.roblox.com/catalog/5890708386/Realistic-Head The Realistic Head UGC item]] is {{intended|audiencereaction}} to {{invoke|d}} the uncanny valley by fitting an unnerving-looking human face and ears onto a usual Robloxian head. [[https://www.roblox.com/catalog/5945013896/Realistic-cursed-goblin Realistic cursed goblin]] amps up the uncanny valley effect by [[{{Cephalothorax}} adding realistic feet and nothing else]].
* UnderusedGameMechanic: Gear is a category of Catalog item where one can obtain equipable items that grant special effects whether it be unique weapons, stat boosts, or pets that follow you and attack others. Unfortunately, these items are often ''so game breaking'' for a developer's intended vision (such as the obvious with weapons being bad for games meant to focus on a specific type of combat or just not have fighting at all) that its very hard to find games that actually allow for their usage, meaning the most you will get out of gear is a visual change for your profile page's avatar.
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome:
** For a children's game, ''Roblox'' can lead to some impressive-looking games. For example, [[http://www.roblox.com/Dynamic-Lighting-RoadRunner-Canyon-2-1-0-place?id=19138354 RoadRunner Canyon]] sure beat out a few professional games in terms of visual design.
** Dynamic lighting, which lets game designers fiddle with the brightness and color of the game even more through individual lights, have led to some cool effects.
** [[https://www.roblox.com/games/3162363365/Summer-Camp-BETA Summer Camp]] carries carefully-crafted terrain and a friendly lighting effect that manages to give a happy summer woodland vibe (which is [[DisguisedHorrorStory supposed to fool you]]).
* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids:
** ''Roblox'' is supposed to be for all ages, but it has the same issue as a lot of other all-ages building games in that the interpretation of "all-ages" leans closer to "stuff that appeals to different age groups" rather than "stuff that is friendly for children". While there are limits to what can be added (although some stuff can get by accidentally until someone reports it), there is a rather high tolerance for FamilyUnfriendlyViolence and minor swearing like "damn" and "hell" has a tendency to get by the filter. It could qualify for the [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids opposite trope]] too since the game contains some items limited to users over the age of thirteen (mainly some realistic guns offered as gear) and there are individual user creations that are definitely aimed for an older audience. In an attempt to curb this, ''Roblox'' added age ratings to various games to avoid this trope, though some 13+ games such as ''Criminality'' push the limit towards its equivalent of the ESRB's T rating with excessive violence.
