1	* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: "Forsaken", "Redeemer" and "Slept So Long" are particular high-points, although it must be said that the entire soundtrack is pretty damn awesome. The original songs were written by Jonathan Davis of Music/{{Korn}}, and were performed by [[Music/LinkinPark Chester Bennington]], Music/MarilynManson, and [[Music/{{Disturbed}} David Draiman]] (among others).
2	* CompleteMonster: [[VampireMonarch Queen Akasha]] was the first vampire, the [[MonsterProgenitor progenitor of the race]] and by far the most evil. She ruled over Ancient Egypt with her husband Enkil as vampiric {{Evil Overlord}}s, nearly annihilating mankind completely due to her massive bloodlust before [[TakenForGranite turning into a living statue]] and [[SealedEvilInACan sleeping for centuries]]. She cares about nothing but her own gratification and is feared and hated by the other Ancient vampires (her closest relatives) for her indiscriminate slaughter of humans and vampires alike. After she awakens, she drains her husband to death to absorb his powers and because she's interested in having Lestat as her new consort. She kills a club full of vampires by [[PlayingWithFire immolating them all]] after ripping out the heart of one of them and eating it. She later feeds on several hundred people in a single night, causing [[EvenEvilHasStandards Lestat to question what she would want with a kingdom of corpses]]. She confronts the other Ancients who [[FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire have come to live in peace with humanity]] to announce her plan to turn the world back into a vampire tyranny and reduce the humans to cattle. She promises to kill them all if they refuse to join her, before ordering Lestat to [[IfYoureSoEvilEatThisKitten kill his human love interest Jesse to prove his loyalty to her]] and tries to kill him too without a second thought after he turns on her.
3	* CoveredUp: Five of the songs on the soundtrack were written and recorded by Jonathan Davis of Music/{{Korn}}. Due to contract troubles[[note]]The film and its soundtrack were released by Warner, Korn was signed to Sony at the time so none of its members were allowed to release music on a different label.[[/note]], all five songs were covered for the official soundtrack, by the likes of [[Music/StaticX Wayne Static]], [[Music/{{Disturbed}} David Draiman]], Music/MarilynManson, [[Music/LinkinPark Chester Bennington]] and Jay Gordon. Unless you've seen the movie (especially the music videos included as extras), most people think that the covers are in fact the original versions of the songs. And considering how hard it is to get a hold of the original versions, since they were never officially released, this doesn't look like it will change any time soon.
4	* DamselScrappy: Jesse is sometimes accused of being this, due to her penchant for wandering blithely into ''obviously'' [[TooDumbToLive life-threatening situations]], despite being totally unable to defend herself and inevitably needing to be rescued.
5	* DracoInLeatherPants: Lestat again. Probably aided by the fact that he does ''literally'' wear leather pants for most of the movie.
6	* FanPreferredCouple: The fandom in general favors the vampire/vampire pairing Lestat/Akasha over the vampire/human pairing Lestat/Jesse. This despite Akasha being portrayed as a bloodthirsty megalomaniac who wants to drink the world dry, Akasha had sex appeal going for her, possessing Aaliyah's striking beauty and charisma, while Jesse was made into a DamselScrappy and mousy VampireVannabe who just got on viewers' nerves.
7	* FranchiseOriginalSin: As explained [[http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/team-nchick/vampire-reviews/38243-vampire-reviews-queen-of-the-damned here]], [[WebVideo/VampireReviews Maven of the Eventide]] feels that a lot of went wrong with the film adaptation of ''Queen of the Damned'' can be traced back to its much better predecessor, ''Film/InterviewWithTheVampire''. In ''Interview'', Lestat was a vivacious, lively character who mocked his brooding counterparts, yet those "tortured souls" still came off as sympathetic characters due to their development over the course of the story. Unfortunately, the makers of ''Queen'' mistook that as "brooding = sexy and cool."
8	* HamAndCheese: Music/{{Aaliyah}}, Creator/StuartTownsend and Creator/VincentPerez all seem fully aware of how silly the movie is, and they all look like they're having a great time chewing on the scenery. Townsend and Aaliyah in particular really go to town with it, making ridiculous overblown gestures and milking relatively mundane lines to the point where it's damn near hilarious.
9	* HarsherInHindsight:
10	** [[spoiler: Akasha's death]] is a great deal more disturbing than it would otherwise have been, given the fact that the actress died less than a year after filming the movie, at the age of twenty-two.
11	** Additionally, Aaliyah joked in an interview while promoting the film that she had planned to [[HalloweenCosplay dress as Akasha for Halloween]], which heartbreakingly wouldn't happen since Aaliyah did not live to see Halloween.
12	* {{Narm}}: And lots of it. The movie doesn't appear to be taking itself at all seriously, so much of it may be a deliberate attempt to invoke NarmCharm.
13	* SoBadItsGood: It's really... not great if taken as a sequel to ''Interview With a Vampire''. On its own merits, however, it is full of cheesy goodness with all the central cast having a ball hamming it up. The awesome music and copious amounts of shirtless Stuart Townsend and Aaliyah in revealing clothing don't hurt either.
14	* TheissTitillationTheory: Akasha appears to be wearing a ChainmailBikini with no straps. It's just glued to her chest.
