* BaseBreakingCharacter: Cure Echo is disliked among a group of fans for taking away focus from the other cures for the majority of her debut movie and doing even less than Shiny Luminous. It's made worse by the fact that she doesn't even become a Cure until the final 10 minutes of New Stage 1, and doesn't even fight, all she does is give Fuu-chan a CooldownHug then de-transforms. On the other hand, quite a number of fans find her an EnsembleDarkhorse and wish that she appeared in one of the TV series as a SixthRanger.
* BrokenBase: The canonicity of this portion of the franchise. While the idea of the teams meeting each other is great, there are some, both within the fandom and with the creators of the various seasons, who feel that bringing them back for series like this just cheapens the endings to their series and with them forever stuck as their initial ages isn't fair, unlike their Kamen Rider and Super Sentai counterparts, who are allowed to be seen aged up if the actual actor returns.
* ContestedSequel: Spring Carnival, mostly because the majority of the movie is TheMusical set to the ending themes of several past Pretty Cure seasons without much in the way of plot progression until the last 20 minutes.
%%* FauxSymbolism: New Stage 3s premise. It's about a mother tapir who wants to protect her shy, sensitive child from all bad things to the point of going too far, becoming completely overbearing, and hurting others in the process. Doesn't this sound like a very thinly veiled TakeThat to MoralGuardians and the whole "protect the children" idea?
* HarsherInHindsight: Ayumi, who spent the entirety of New Stage 1 overcoming her insecurities and earning her place amongst the other Cures as Cure Echo, suddenly disappears by the 15th anniversary movie All-Stars Memories, with none of the promotional material making any effort to reassure viewers of her existence. Considering how Ayumi idolized the Pretty Cures and wished to be one of them, only to be told in the most insulting way that she doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, that's gotta hurt. Except... [[spoiler:she appeared in Episode 37 of Hugtto! as a canonical cameo]]! And she only makes an unvoiced cameo in All Stars F, among several other psuedo-Cures.
* HeartwarmingInHindsight:
** New Stage 3 depicts Nozomi as an adult and a teacher in the LotusEaterMachine. 9 years later, we get to see her along with the rest of the Yes 5 cast as actual adults in Anime/PowerOfHopePrecureFullBloom, and she is a phenomenal teacher.
** Italy is one of the few countries which has a fan following for Pretty Cure outside South-East Asia and Japan. In 2023, Pretty Cure All Stars F had a limited release in Italy, making it the first and currently only case of an official, Toei-supported, release of Pretty Cure, unaltered, in the West.Glitter Force was heavily edited and grudgingly released at all. All Stars F was only edited to give it Italian subtitles.
** Cure Supreme and Cure Puca, when they finally become a Pretty Cure team of their own, are a human and their pet/mascot becoming Cures together. Just like all the Cures in Anime/WonderfulPrettyCure...
* HoYay: Utaen towards Odoren in Spring Carnival. "I really 'looooove' the boss!"- confesses Utaen, with a blush.
* LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt:
** [=DX3=]s climax brings the Cures one last chance to transform and save the world at the cost of never being able to see their mascot friends again. Seeing as how the movie was released towards the beginning of Suite, there was no way they'd permanently lock away the Cures' ability to transform.
** All Stars F sees practically all the teams except Anime/HirogaruSkyPrettyCure decimated by a mysterious enemy. While not as incredulous as [=DX3=], It's still doubtful they'll all stay dead, especially considering their appearances in the Precure Full Bloom series.
* Narm:
** The epilogue and end credits of DX 3 was supposed to be serious and a BittersweetEnding, but the preppy and happy-sounding ending music kind of ruins the mood. It doesn't help that there's one background shot where Itsuki can be seen smiling while Tsubomi and Erika are heartbroken.
** Miraculous Magic has its tendency to animate the singers with excessive gestures like in stage theater. While the overly dramatic gestures are necessary in theater because of the distance between the stage and the audience, seeing the florist at the opening moves up close is hilarity-inducting.
* NightmareFuel:
** Slightly less than halfway through, DX 2 takes a dive straight into a level of DerangedAnimation rivaled only by the likes of WesternAnimation/RaggedyAnnAndAndyAMusicalAdventure. Even the villains in the second film go to this later on, as in they became the Devil Themselves.
** Just watching the battle of all 20 teams of Pretty Cure against the BigBad of All Stars F. They don't speak, just make alien noises that approximate speech while decimating the Cures, with even an attempt with Marble Screw not able to stop it, and it's implied they failed.
* OneSceneWonder: Fans of the Ensemble Darkhorses of the franchise seem to cling at TheCameo of their favorites, but nothing seems to surpass the popularity of Seika donning ElegantGothicLolita in New Stage 2.
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Those who didn't like Cure Echo gradually thought better of her in New Stage 3 where, despite only appearing in the last 10 minutes of the movie, she actually helps this time, and Enyen and Grell become her Fairy Partners. Her return in Miraculous Magic was also received rather well.
* SurprisinglyImprovedSequel:
** The teams are seen interacting for some of the sequel (most notably the Heartcatch and Fresh teams), which is an improvement over the Stealth Hi Byes of the first movie. However, it's only those two teams that really interact for more than a few minutes, so mileage will vary.
** After the first two New Stage movies got flak for the lack of speaking roles for most of the previous teams, New Stage 3 onwards has the original duo and at least every leader from each team reprised, ensuring that every season is represented even if it's unfeasible to bring back every single voice actress. Miraculous Magic also goes further by bringing back Cure Echo and every girl from the three previous seasons instead of just the immediate predecessor, as well as taking cues from the DX trilogy.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks:
** There are a few fans, spoiled by the high-octane action of the DX movies, that see New Stages OriginalGeneration focus to be an annoyance.
** Spring Carnival, which made almost the entire movie into TheMusical while putting the action to the sidelines.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: It has its own page here.
* ToughActToFollow:
** [=DX3=] delivered so much, be it action, speaking parts, sweet, awesome, and sad moments that many people felt the New Stage movies, and all subsequent crossover movies to a certain extent, while pretty good on their own, were a little lacking when compared to the DX ones.
** All Stars Memories, which manages to have one big battle with every main Cure at the time getting at least one line during it, to the point they got a literal record for the feat, with the production staff themselves declaring that there's too many Cures now to make another attempt.
* UnexpectedCharacter: [=Ayumi/Echo=] returning in All Stars F, the same movie where she was de-confirmed. She's showcased in the ending of the Episode 35 of Anime/HirogaruSkyPrettyCure, much to fans' surprise, since, similar to Cure Majesty, nothing suggested she was in it before then. What's even more surprising? Either side of her are Guren and Enen, her fairies, who haven't appeared since New Stage 3, a decade earlier.
** The film goes even further with this, with literally every single non-Cure character possible, be they mascots, pseudo-Cures, Legendary Cures or unpowered supporters appearing at the beginning of the final battle.
