* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: While it's easy to see Dai Shi as simply controlling Jarrod's body after possessing him, its ambiguous how much of his appearances is him controlling Jarrod, or rather him simply ''influencing'' Jarrod and bringing out his more negative qualities. One point towards this idea is how he treats Camille. While possessing Jarrod, he shows noticeable kindness and favoritism towards her, though later Jarrod says that ''he'' is the one who cares for Camille, not Dai Shi. Despite this though, Dai Shi possessing Jarrod still expresses familiarity towards his former generals, and follows an honor code of MightMakesRight unlike Jarrod, yet Carnisoar plays on Jarrod's memories of being bullied to try and toughen him up. So how much of Dai Shi possessing Jarrod is actually Dai Shi, and how much is actually Jarrod is up for debate.
* AnticlimaxBoss: Dai Shi (the real one) doesn't get that much time to fight the Rangers, as the first half of his master plan is to resurrect all his fallen generals. He does get to engage the Rangers and 2 of the Megazords, but he goes down after Jarrod weakens him and then 3 of the Rangers special attack him claiming this was a power beyond that of master. Fans are bitter about this, but concede that up until then, there was a ''load'' of fighting in the episode already.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic:
** When you suffer through the ''Operation Overdrive'' opening, the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAnn6SRO3c0 theme song]] for ''Jungle Fury'' feels like a breath of fresh air. It helps that this is the first ''Power Rangers'' theme in a ''very'' long time to actually have ''harmony.''
** The jungle-themed background music, which is heavy on the African drums, has some East Asian music mixed in, to match the show's kung-fu motif.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The Masters' HalfHumanHybrid forms in the finale, which happen to be the Seven Kensei from ''Gekiranger''.
* BrokenBase: The Solar Morphers split the fans right down the middle- some thought that the sunglasses made sense as all of the Rangers do complicated martial arts sequences in their morph sequence, and sunglasses are as good a disguise, as, say [[Series/PowerRangersWildForce Cell]] [[Series/PowerRangersMysticForce Phone]] morphers. On the other hand, many dismissed the entire concept of the Solar Morphers after RJ used a more conventional morpher, and also because they didn't think sunglasses could be used as morphers. It doesn't help that the transformation devices used in ''Gekiranger,'' the Beast Henshin Claws, are integrated into the suits and referred to as "Battle Claws" in ''Jungle Fury.'' The Gekirangers also crack their knuckles before morphing, and rumor has it that the Solar Morphers were brought in over fears kids could imitate the knuckle-cracking and injure themselves.
* CharacterPerceptionEvolution: Casey. While many complained at the time that he was a bit too whiny, especially compared to other [[RookieRedRanger Rookie Red Rangers]] such as Wes, realistically Casey was right to be worried as this was a student that just started out thrusted into the role of guardian and then Power Ranger. But through CharacterDevelopment, he became more confident in his abilities and eventually come out on his own to become a master. Compare Casey from the start of this season to his cameo in ''[[Series/PowerRangersMegaforce Super Megaforce]]'' and you see a cub who became a wise master much like Master Mao.
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** Despite being a lesser-loved series, ''Jungle Fury'' has one of the most loved non-Ranger characters of the Disney era: Fran, the glasses-wearing, {{adorkable}} girl who slowly comes out of her shell, is well loved amongst the fans.
** RJ got a good deal of praise for his unique approach toward mentoring and more laid-back persona. The fact that [[MrFanservice he was a rather handsome and pretty man]] didn't hurt. Which is probably why he was chosen as a representative for the ''Jungle Fury'' season in [[VideoGame/PowerRangersBattleForTheGrid Battle For The Grid]]. He's widely seen to this day as one of the best characters from the Disney era.
** Casey as well due to being a {{Deconstruction}} of RookieRedRanger, to the point where he's the only Disney Actor who was brought back for ''Super Megaforce''. His actor being JustForFun/OneOfUs helps, too. It should be noted that Jason Smith, Casey's actor, was also a writer for ''Super Megaforce'', so that could've been an additional reason.
** The Five Fingers of Poison only stuck around for a handful of episodes, but they were among the more developed and popular of the Rinshi beasts, with Toady and Stingerella being a rather cute BattleCouple and Naja being TheStarscream who proved surprisingly formidable against Camille.
* EpilepticTrees: RJ is implied to have got the morphers "[[FriendInTheBlackMarket from a guy who knew a guy who had an uncle]]". There are lots of fan theories involving [[Series/PowerRangersInSpace Andros]], [[Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers Tommy]] and [[Series/PowerRangersNinjaStorm Cam]] in various configurations providing him with the morphers. Slightly less often seen theories, including proposed by Creator/{{Linkara}}, suggest he got the materials from [[Series/PowerRangersOperationOverdrive Hartford]], as he was shown to be able to make Morphers himself for the Overdrive team, and during the 15th anniversary special, was shown working on repairing them alongside veteran ranger [[Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers Adam]].
* FanNickname:
** Michelle Guin or Michelle Pengstone for the Creator/MichelleLangstone-voiced Master Guin (because her ''[[Series/JukenSentaiGekiranger Gekiranger]]'' counterpart happened to have the same first name as her American VA).
** Casey's trike from "Bad to the Bone" has been nicknamed the [[{{Pun}} Trike Rider]], after his motorcycle.
** The series itself is sometimes called "Jungle Furry".
* FanficFuel: The GreatOffscreenWar where Masters Lope, Guin, and Rilla died is implied to have occurred relatively recently, during a period where Dai Shi and his generals were still imprisoned [[note]] There are pictographs of them near those of the living masters and there no other masters are pictured despite how many thousands of years it's been since Dai Shi's defeat, suggesting it's a recent work of art.[[/note]], leaving it interesting to imagine just what happened to them.
* HesJustHiding: In the final battle, [[spoiler:the many resurrected villains from past episodes (Carnisoar, Toady, Stingerella, Jellica, Osiris, Buffalord, etc.) are all defeated at once in one big explosion that isn't as explicit as some deaths in the show. Given the number of CreepyAwesome and AffablyEvil villains in that crowd, it can be tempting to hope some of them might have survived the explosion.]]
* HilariousInHindsight:
** The second wave of basic figures has their electronics taken out and placed inside "sound chips", which resemble USB flash drives. Guess what ''Series/KamenRiderDouble'' and its toyline would be based around.
** Some fans didn't think sunglasses worked as morphers. [[Series/TokumeiSentaiGobusters Toei did]], and for extra {{Irony}}, it happened in a season that some view as a direct {{Homage}} to ''Power Rangers''. For even more irony, Saban would later skip ''[=GoBusters=]'' in favor of ''Series/ZyudenSentaiKyoryuger'', only to go back to it several years later for ''Series/PowerRangersBeastMorphers''.
** One of the toys for a Red Ranger helmet was called the "Mega Mission" helmet. [[Series/PowerRangersMegaforce Sound familiar?]] (Even more hilarious, Casey is appearing in the second half of ''Megaforce'').
** [[Series/ZyudenSentaiKyoryuger Spirit Rangers]]
*** [[Series/DoubutsuSentaiZyuohger Green Elephant Ranger, anyone?]]
** David Delautour would go on to play Ted West in the New Zealand drama series ''Westside'', the prequel to ''Series/OutrageousFortune''. Ted's son's name? Wolfgang, otherwise known as Wolf.
** Anna Hutchison's career trajectory would go the same way as another former Yellow Ranger, Cerina Vincent of ''Series/PowerRangersLostGalaxy''. Both would have one of their next major roles be in a horror movie set in a cabin (''Film/CabinFever'' for Cerina, ''Film/TheCabinInTheWoods'' for Anna), both would play the more sexual character to a more modest best friend, and both would be [[spoiler: the first to get killed off]].
* HoYay: RJ/Casey has fans.
** Not without evidence. Casey's greatest fear (revealed during an early two-parter) was something coming out of his closet. He offers to give RJ rub-downs (mistakenly believing that RJ has regressed to his wolf form), and he also mentions being the "catcher" for his little league baseball team. Given RJ's bohemian attitude to life, you could very easily see RJ and Casey getting together. What didn't hurt was that every other character paired up. By the close of the finale, Dom and Fran had run off to Europe together, Theo was dating Lily, and Camille and Jarrod were closer than they'd ever been.
** As does Casey/Theo and RJ/Dom.
* InformedWrongness: The events involving Lily and Camille in "Pushed to the Edge" is treated as if it were a case of TheFarmerAndTheViper, with Camille being treated as an ungrateful bastard who took advantage of Lilly's kindness. In reality, Camille ended up saving Lily's life when Jellica was about to kill her, even when it put her in danger, so Camille ultimately couldn't be considered a "Viper" despite being a villain.
* IronWoobie: Non-dramatic version: Fran goes through a lot of work-related crap even before learning who her workmates really are. While a straight [[PluckyComicRelief comic relief]] would either laugh it or be ignored by karma, she does get the chance to vent her frustrations.
* JerkassWoobie:
** Camille has UndyingLoyalty to Dai Shi, and is greatly attracted to his host's body. However, he doesn't return her affections and continuously treats her as nothing more than a pawn. This even gets told to her but Camille persists that in the end, her loyalty would be rewarded, but she would soon discover that reward was never going to happen. While Jarrod grows to care for her, Dai Shi sees her as nothing more than a servant, breaking her heart despite how much she's willing to do for him.
** Jarrod himself counts as well. While he is shown to be a ArrogantKungFuGuy at the start of the season it's revealed that part of the reason is that he was bullied as a kid and, as a result, became a much harder person. After being rejected for the final stage of training, and replaced with [[RookieRedRanger Casey]] due to his attitude, he gets possessed by Dai Shi and spends the rest of the season fighting an internal battle with Dai Shi. [[spoiler:After the two are finally separated Jarrod has a HeroicBSOD over his quilt for the wrongs he committed while evil and believes that he can never find redemption for the crimes he's committed.]]
* MagnificentBastard:
** [[ArrogantKungFuGuy Jarrod]], the [[KingOfBeasts Black Lion Warrior]], starts off as a [[FromNobodyToNightmare mere bully]] before accidentally releasing Dai Shi and becoming his vessel. Under Dai Shi's influence, Jarrod makes repeated attempts to destroy Ocean Bluff to collect enough fear to start a second Beast War, at one point sending the deadly Five Fingers of Poison to take out the Rangers, before giving Camille tips on how to beat the treacherous Naja. Jarrod revives the three overlords to train him and is constantly improving himself to the point that even masters like R.J. can't beat him one on one. When Grizzaka overthrows him, Jarrod plots from the shadows to master Zocato Power and, to do so, outmaneuvers everyone to get to the Rhino Nexus, before taking back his throne. When Scorch's plan using the Spirit Rangers fails, Jarrod has Whiger steal Casey's Spirit. Eventually breaking free from Dai Shi, Jarrod helps the Rangers destroy both Snapper and Dai Shi himself. [[TookALevelInBadass Constantly growing along with the heroes]], Jarrod ultimately proves that he has the heart to go along with his Lion Spirit.
** [[TheBaroness Camille]], the [[HollywoodChameleons Green Chameleon Warrior]], is Dai Shi's beautiful and snarky right hand woman. Responsible for sending monsters to destroy Ocean Bluff, Camille regularly comes up with plans that nearly defeat the Rangers, such as, helping two monsters become a BattleCouple, sending a monster to trap the Rangers in a deadly game show, and cloning one monster into an army, while having the original hide. In one of her finest moments, Camille singlehandedly defeats the treacherous Naja, even tricking the Rangers into helping her, and pretending to turn to lure Naja into letting his guard down. When Grizzaka overthrows Dai Shi, Camille steals the Control Dagger and helps Dai Shi reach the Rhino Nexus. Later falling for Jarrod when he saves her life, Camille joins the heroes in the final fight and enlists at the Pai Zhua academy along with Jarrod. A skilled warrior, MasterOfDisguise, and not without her softer moments, Camille repeatedly shows that she should never be underestimated by enemies or allies alike.
** [[DanceBattler Stingerella]] is a scorpion mutant and member of the [[QuirkyMiniBossSquad Five Fingers of Poison]]. She is capable of defeating multiple Power Rangers single-handedly but appreciates how much a group can do better than most villains. She comments that her teammate Rantipede was foolish to fight them alone but still mourns him after he's killed. Stingerella also trains her underlings to attack using synchronized and efficient combat strategies. Stingerella initially scorns her teammate Toady's romantic attention but becomes impressed by his chivalry toward her, and they become an affectionate BattleCouple who take so much pleasure out of getting together that they are willing to temporarily spare the injured Rangers to avoid ruining a romantic moment. Later, they prepare to trigger a volcano to wipe out the city and the Rangers and are stopped just in time. Stingerella is crushed by Toady's death and spends the rest of her life travel trying to avenge him.
** [[EvilGenius Carnisoar]], the [[FeatheredFiend Overlord of the Skies]], contrasts with his fellow overlords by constantly keeping a cool head. Revived to help Jarrod/Dai Shi [[EvilMentor reach the pinnacle of evil]], Carnisoar does so by changing Jarrod's memories of his past good deeds and then putting him through TrainingFromHell, even sending a pair of monsters to destroy Ocean Bluff, by opening a vortex to suck it into. When Camille revives Jellica, Carnisoar gracefully steps aside to allow her to take over Dai Shi's training and later helps capture R.J. Joining Grizzaka's coup, Carnisoar later uses his [[MasterOfIllusion illusions to trick the Rangers]] into attacking each other and defeats two megazords with ease. Even when defeated, Carnisoar defiantly tells the Rangers that the war is far from over.
** [[TheDragon Scorch]] is the leader of [[TheFourGods the Phantom Beasts]] who opposed Dai Shi in the original Beast War. After being freed from his Crystal Eye, Scorch plays along with Jellica's plan in order to kill her in front of Dai Shi to prove his loyalty. Tasked with destroying the Rangers, Scorch has a monster act as a distraction while he and his fellow generals kidnap the three still living masters to create the Spirit Rangers which nearly destroy the Rangers repeatedly. When this fails, Scorch has a pair of monsters kidnap the entire city to harvest their fear. Angered at Camille being made a general while Whiger was punished, Scorch undermines her plan of a clone monster army by secretly leading the Rangers to the original one. Later attempting to kill Camille in order to keep Dai Shi strong, Scorch leads the final charge to collect fear and aid Dai Shi regain his true form.
** [[GeniusBruiser Whiger]] is a Phantom Beast general with the [[PantheraAwesome Spirit of the White Tiger]] and is the one who captures Master Finn to help make the Spirit Rangers. Tasked with taking Casey's Tiger Spirit, Whiger ambushes Casey when he is alone and successfully steals his spirit. Later challenging Casey to finish their fight but faced with the test of the team, Whiger bests all four of them and later attacks the city, though [[WouldntHurtAChild avoiding attacking children]]. Banished and stripped of his Rinzen by Dai Shi, Whiger tries to regain his honor by challenging Casey a final time, only to be saved by him instead. [[HeelFaceTurn Repaying the favor by helping Casey find the kidnapped citizens]], Whiger even gives Casey his Spirit back and helps him battle Camille, proudly proclaiming Casey his friend and fellow Tiger.
* {{Moe}}
** Fran, due to her {{Meganekko}} glasses, FriendlessBackground, and ShipperOnDeck moments.
** Lily, due to her sweet and forgiving nature and BigSisterInstinct toward Casey. One Screenrant reviewer noted that "having a cheetah as her jungle spirit almost seemed like too fierce of an animal for Lily."
* RetroactiveRecognition:
** David de Lautour would later be part of ''Series/LegendOfTheSeeker'', ''{{Series/Wentworth}}'', and eventually ''Shortland Street''.
** Anna Hutchison had already been part of ''Shortland Street'', but would become far better known for ''Film/TheCabinInTheWoods'' and ''Series/SpartacusBloodAndSand''.
* SoOkayItsAverage: The fanbase tends to see this as a middle of the road season that conveniently comes right after a [[Series/PowerRangersOperationOverdrive season that is regularly trashed]] and before a [[Series/PowerRangersRPM season that is regularly praised]]. Doesn't help that the [[Series/JukenSentaiGekiranger source Sentai]] received a mixed opinion amongst fans as well. However, over the years this has started skewing towards a hidden/underrated gem of a series. See VindicatedByHistory below.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: Several changes to some of the franchise's details irked fans, like the Rangers' suits lacking belts and having short gloves and shoes rather than the long gloves and boots that had been the standard costume choice for years, as well as the stronger focus on Chinese Kung-Fu as opposed to Japanese martial arts. And then there's the Solar Morphers issue...
** This actually has more to do with the [[Series/JukenSentaiGekiranger source footage]] than anything. Except for the Solar Morphers.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: [[spoiler: Despite his [[FireForgedFriends friendship]] with Casey and RedemptionEqualsDeath, Whiger's spirit doesn't show up in the GrandFinale to assist the Rangers, unlike their other allies.]]
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot:
** In one episode, Lily is under some sort of trance thanks to the MOTW, and is acting like a selfish brute. When a monster comes out to attack the city, she stays behind the pizza place, while the others leave. Fran, fed up with her attitude, ''takes Lily's morpher'', with the full intent of leaving and using it. Unfortunately, Lily snaps out of it, and takes it back, meaning we never see Fran morph into a Ranger.
** Although it probably wouldn't have worked, given that it has been shown that simply having a Solar Morpher isn't enough to become a Ranger. All their gear pretty much Ranger-ifies the energy you yourself generate with [[SupernaturalMartialArts Magic Martial Arts]], as seen with any time the Rangers themselves have difficulty. We were probably spared from seeing Fran smacked around for trying to be a hero.
** It's also sad we never got to see Lily use the cheetah-themed motorcycle her "edgy" persona used in an actual Ranger battle. They went to the trouble of making it, so you'd think it'd be used now and again, but no.
* UglyCute: Flit
* VindicatedByHistory: This season received a somewhat lukewarm response on initial airing. Nowadays (like ''[[Series/PowerRangersLightspeedRescue Lightspeed Rescue]]''), the season is seen as an underrated gem and one of the strongest of the Disney era for its likable team of Rangers and competent {{Wuxia}}-flavored storytelling alongside a very well thought out theme of self improvement. Even its villains are strong character-wise, with Jarrod/Dai Shi's unique take on a villain who grows in power much like the Rangers, Camille, a loyal minion who will go through hell and back because she believes it's worth it, and the Five Fingers of Poison being one of the strongest and most well-developed attempts at a team of Psycho Rangers since ThePsychoRangers themselves. Linkara's [[WebVideo/HistoryOfPowerRangers review]] probably helped it a bit in addition to ''Gekiranger'' becoming a fan favourite season as the years went on.
