!!The Creator/DarioArgento film:
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zHq2MBtXS8 The main theme.]] There also the inclusion of Music/IronMaiden's "Flash of the Blade" and Music/{{Motorhead}}'s "Locomotive" in the soundtrack.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zHq2MBtXS8 How about the whole soundtrack in general?]]
* MoralEventHorizon:
** [[spoiler: It is a bit redundant to mention Patua, but not Frau Brückner who first helps her son continue his horrific hobbies and then begins killing herself, starting with Doctor [=McGregor=], to protect her abominable son. The whole family is screwed considering that his birth came from another crossing of the horizon.]]
** The headmistress has shown herself to be very mean and unprofessional by allowing Jennifer's bullying but her worst act was attempting ''to lock up Jennifer in a mental institution'' while admitting that it was not certain that she was the killer, but she considered her diabolical regardless. And it's pretty clear she had no intention of contacting Jennifer's father or his agent, meaning she was going to let Jennifer rot in a mental hospital with no one knowing where she was.
* NauseaFuel: How about a nice swim in a pool of rotting carcasses? No?
* NightmareRetardant: Let's face it: Music/IronMaiden just isn't "being stalked in a creepy building" music. That said, the music is still awesome.

!!The book series:
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The Audiobooks' [[http://youtu.be/4lCl6LTlsq8 main theme]], a sad yet curious piano piece, sounding like a fairy tale.
* ClicheStorm: One of the big complains adult reviewers came with along with calling the [[FlatCharacter characters bland]] was this. It actually makes partial sense considdering that it was Creator/RubenEliassen's first book (he hated reading and writing as a kid) and he [[WhatCouldHaveBeen planned to make it a]] series of PictureBooks. Many fans agree he's much better at writing from the second book, and then gets almost too dark with the third onward.
* CriticalDissonance: Many critics saw it as a ''Literature/TheLordOfTheRings'' [[TheyCopiedItSoItSucks rip-off]], to the point of refusing to review the other books. Among readers however is it popular and a bestseller. But due to the critics are there no collectibles outside a board game.
* EvilIsCool: [[spoiler:Mentor seems to have thought this when younger.]]
* FandomRivalry[=/=]FriendlyFandoms:
** With the ''Literature/HarryPotter'' fandom as they came out around the same time. There are still many who are fan of both.
** Also with ''Literature/TheLordOfTheRings'' fandom which more grown up people saw it as [[TheyCopiedItSoItSucks a copy]] just when looking at the [[http://bokerpanett.weebly.com/uploads/1/8/9/7/1897930/9566223_orig.jpg cover]], ways to see that is that they accuse Sha-ra of being a Gandalf copy first, yes, he's a wizard [[WizardBeard with a long white beard]] and being a WizardClassic. Nevermind that [[WordOfGod Ruben Eliassen]] himself said that he never had read anything of the genre before in multiple interviews but wrote it after children asked him to, and he wrote inspired on what he knew from various European mythologies including ''Literature/TheBible''. But as with the HP Fandom are there fans of both Phenomena and LOTR.
** Some Phenomena fans hate ''WesternAnimation/Frozen2013'', others love it, and some doesn't care much for either anymore.
** With ''Eva och Adam'' a Swedish children's romance series. As it became really popular to read it, most changed to it, not to forget much more frequent releases. Although many read both as well, while others chose sides.
* GeniusBonus: if you're interested in history, reads ''Bible'' lore for fun, know things about Norse mythology, and know many [[BilingualBonus languages]] you'll understand more of what's going on, not that it makes it any lighter.
* GrowingTheBeard: From the second book it becomes more of an own thing and not a ton of research put together. The lore and world building becomes much better.
* ItsPopularNowItSucks: Why it suddenly dropped in popularity even though the wonky, DubNameChange Norwegian Literature/HarryPotter books were popular... mostly for being popular.
* {{Moe}}:
** Ilke, BadassAdorable and relatable yet not a Purity Sue nor Mary Sue for having clear faults yet being awesome and a character everyone would like to hug and protect at all costs. She's the most popular character of the series for a good reason.
** Arol, being a big {{adorkable}} winter bear everyone wants to hug.
* NarmCharm: Ilke's adoration of mothers fall into this by being a huge [[HoYay Les Yay]] and implying that she LikesOlderWomen. It is understandable that she's desperate for a mother, growing up without any females to look up to for 10 years, but her lines of 'Do all mothers smell this good?' is still pretty narmy.
* TooBleakStoppedCaring: Some stopped reading in the 4th book as it got a small boy who's tortured, among other dark things. The lighthearted children's romance series ''Eva and Adam'' debuted aroud the same time, featured colorful and cheerful characters and artwork.
* ToyShip: Ilke and Jolsah is hinted in the 2nd book.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: At times it gets so dark that it isn't funny.

!! The Live-Action Series:
* ClicheStorm: The first ''Phenomena'' book showed traces of this, making it seem like the books had BlackAndWhiteMorality when it leans more towards BlackAndGrayMorality. The series' description only adapted the BlackAndWhiteMorality.
* MisaimedFandom: What seemingly half the fandom wanted was an AnimatedAdaptation. About half of them wanted it to be animated by ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'', the other half wanted it to become an {{Anime}} series like ''Anime/AfroSamurai'' and ''Anime/FirstSquad'' got theirs, and the last few people wanted a 3D animation by the people who were fired from Creator/DreamWorksAnimation when ''WesternAnimation/RiseOfTheGuardians'' flopped.
* QuestionableCasting: The actors/models neither look nor are the right age to play [[KidHero Alk and Ilke]]. Thankfully, it's only a promotional poster and those aren't going to be the characters in the final product.
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: What [[http://magicworx.com/ Magic Worx]] is probably there for, but having a low budget results in only making Ilke blue and some ice magic be shown...
