* AssPull: Just as Derek was going to tell Sharon about what happened at the Christmas party regarding Lisa coming on to him, she tells him about her sister's husband cheating on her, leaving her and their three children for the other woman and how much anger and hurt she has regarding the situation (especially since she said [[TalkingDownTheSuicidal she was talking her off of the ledge)]], so he decides not to tell her. Neither the situation nor the sister are ever mentioned again throughout the movie.
* BillingDisplacement: Subverted. While Idris Elba is [[RetroactiveRecognition more recognizable to audiences nowadays]], audiences still wondered why a virtually unknown actor received top billing over two more well-known actresses.
* CultClassic: While the film brings nothing new and has been done before, there's a reason why it has gained an audience that loves its [[SoBadItsGood certain appeal]].
* HarsherInHindsight: Music/{{Beyonce}} playing a wife outraged over her husband's apparent affair with another woman took on new significance after her own husband Jay-Z's infidelity, the fallout from which sparked her emotive album Lemonade. This even lead to many new viewers [[MemeticMutation jokingly referring to Ali Larter's character as Becky With the Good Hair.]]
* JustHereForGodzilla: [[CatFight We all know why.]]
* {{Narm}}: During the big blow-up after the "affair" was revealed and Sharon yells for him to grab his things and leave, this exchange occurred:
-->'''Charles''': Where am I supposed to go?!
-->'''Sharon''': TO HELL! But until then, may I suggest the Four Seasons?!
** It's so nice that in the midst of all that anger, she can still think of a (rather nice) hotel for him to stay at.
** [[MakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext The winking smiley face email.]]
** Sharon's dialogue is just as bad: "You ''touched'' my child?" "She was ''naked'' in your ''bed''?"
** The FallingChandelierOfDoom at the end isn't some outsized, obviously heavy chandelier covered in glass ornamentation like the trope usually calls for, but rather the kind of modern, minimalist fixture that would only weigh about 15 pounds at the most. If someone could survive a 20-foot drop through a glass table, they could easily survive that thing falling on them, too.
* RootingForTheEmpire: Some fans found Beyonce's character Sharon so obnoxious they found Lisa more tolerable, and started wishing she would win in their catfight later in the film.
* SignatureScene: Lisa's attempt to seduce Derek in his car with her overcoat. Also [[spoiler: the final catfight between Lisa and Sharon]].
* SoBadItsGood: There are a lot of stupid decisions and moments of bad acting, but it all churns out a hilariously enjoyable experience, if totally accidental.
* TheyCopiedItSoItSucks: This is little more than an updated version of Film/FatalAttraction, except not nearly as good and far more unintentional comedy.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot [=/=] TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: As critics have pointed out, there was so much could have been done with the Lisa Sheridan character and the plot itself, such as explore the interracial conflict between the Black couple and the White woman coming between them as well as Lisa herself. The film never gives a reason as to why she became so obsessed with Derek. The possibility of her having some sort of mental illness is implied, but never explored further.
* TookTheBadFilmSeriously: As silly as her material is, Ali Larter actually turns out a pretty solid and entertaining performance as a mentally unstable and unhinged stalker. Enough so that most viewers were rooting for her to kill the protagonists.
