* CompleteMonster: [[VileVillainSaccharineShow Redda]] is a FallenAngel seeking the power of Oroboros to [[DystopiaJustifiesTheMeans reform the world into a place of pain and terror]]. A [[ManipulativeBastard master manipulator]], Redda [[TheCorrupter corrupts]] the suffering angel Gabriolis into becoming his commander and lead his armies to quash the defenders of the world. When Gabriolis learns of Redda's trickery, Redda declares his minion a fool and summons the Dread Dragon as a host for Oroboros, taking one heroine hostage within the beast to prevent her friends from attacking it and attempting to use the Dread Dragon to consume the world and create his desired eternal realm of suffering.
%%* EvilIsCool: Reda.
%%* GeniusBonus
* HilariousInHindsight: There's a toy-line for ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'' called Mon-Colle, consisting of miniature models.
%%* {{Macekre}}
* {{Moe}}: Many characters, among them protagonists Mondo and Rockna and especially the airheaded Gluko / Guuko.
* MoralEventHorizon: Redda crossed it when he [[spoiler: seized Rokuna hostage, [[HostageForMacguffin demanded the Monster Items from Mondo while holding a fake Rokuna at swordpoint, put her inside the Terror Dragon's neck]], and ordered the dragon to suck most of Mondo's monster friends into a black hole. Mondo, being a usually cheerful 11 year old, ends up suicidal from his feelings of loss and failure, and it takes him quite a bit to get better. Rokuna was THIS close to get slaughtered in a truly horrible way.]]
* NightmareFuel: As if Reda's scary death mask that he wears over his hot {{Bishonen}} face wasn't frightening enough, he loves subjecting things to [[ChestBurster disturbing splooshy transformations]] as well, such as [[spoiler:having Oroboros give such a transformation to the Terror Dragon in order to give Oroboros a new body after the Terror Dragon itself is resurrected by him]].

* SpiritualSuccessor:
** To ''Anime/TimeBokan'' (''Anime/{{Yatterman}}'', to be specific), according to a staff interview and how OncePerEpisode when the Count is defeated, his war machine turns into a rose-shaped cloud (like Time Bokan's skull-shaped cloud).[[note]]Mon Colle Knights was made by another company, however.[[/note]]
** Others would call it a successor to ''Anime/FlintTheTimeDetective''.
* {{Woolseyism}}: Some think the added humor in the dub made the show even funnier, ''especially'' with the main antagonists Eccentro / Count Collection, Batch / Bacchi, and Gluko / Guuko.
