* BaseBreakingCharacter: Due to Mike's sense of humour, he was either one of the funniest reviewers on Website/ChannelAwesome, or is deeply unfunny or offensive.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Grace, Mike's wife, has gotten quite popular, especially in the Infomercialism videos.
** Marie, his cat, appeared in only one video. Instantly, she gained everyone's love for being quite vocal and sassy. Basil, another cat that has appeared in videos, has gained popularity for being quite literally a scaredy-cat and showing body language that [[CatsAreSnarkers could be interpreted as snarky]].
* HeartwarmingInHindsight: Mike was a serious [[TheWoobie woobie]] during his testing of the "Lose a Stone in a Week" diet, having very small portions of very basic food and pretty much starving the whole time. At the end of the last video, he revealed that Grace (who he was engaged to at the time) did the diet with him. At least his fiance was willing to suffer with him.
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: When he subjects his cat to the Cat's Meow, she starts to run away in fear. Mike's response is to immediately turn off the (particularly noisy) machine and comfort her.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** In his review of ''[[Film/StarWarsEwokAdventures Ewoks: Caravan of Courage]]'', he makes a joke about the Ewoks' dead, unblinking eyes. Five months later, the [[LimitedSpecialCollectorsUltimateEdition Blu-ray edition]] of ''Film/ReturnOfTheJedi'' added CGI blinking for the Ewoks.
** In the review for ''Film/SonOfTheMask'', Mike is shocked to discover that WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic has reviewed Film/Jaws3D, a movie he has already reviewed. Now the Nostalgia Critic has reviewed ''Film/SonOfTheMask'' as well.
** The game of "Are they still on the site?" in his ''Webvideo/{{Kickassia}} review, not only are [[WebVideo/AtopTheFourthWall Linkara]] and [[WebVideo/BadMovieBeatdown Film Brain]] now gone, making it a 0%, but Mike himself left at the same time as both of them.
* MemeticMutation:
** If you look in the comments of any Infomercialism video, you'll most likely find a few people noticing the products and asking Mike to "put your willy in it," including items such as [[{{Squick}} The Ultimate]] [[GroinAttack Chopper.]]
*** He's actually appeared in a few videos wearing a "put your willy in it lol" shirt.
** It's also tradition to point out that Mike is using the product incorrectly (sometimes seriously, but more often than not jokingly), sometimes claiming the need for ridiculous instructions in order for the product to work properly.
** Another similar tradition is to ask Mike if the product works with [[TrademarkFavoriteFood cheese]].
* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: Eating nothing but UsefulNotes/McDonalds meals for seven days... and losing weight! Though Mike states at the end of the week that he still wouldn't recommend that diet to anyone.
** And then he repeated that feat with [=KFC=]!
* SugarWiki/MostWonderfulSound: "Hello, I'm a British person!"
** The first theme for Infomercialism counts as well, being a rather soothing melody.
* NightmareFuel: When he puts on the Rejuvenique.
* OlderThanTheyThink: He mentions in his ''Film/TheWickerMan2006'' review that it would be better as a comedy. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_mW8mBzmHo&feature=related Somebody did post a recut trailer of the film as if it were a comedy back in 2007]].
* SoBadItsGood: His series "Asylum Seeker" is aimed at finding this kind of value in the films of Creator/TheAsylum.
** An [[InUniverse Out-of-Universe]] example. The crash scene from ''Our Lips Are Sealed'' is so bad, it's actually kind of funny. [=MikeJ=] rightfully calls it the worst crash scene ever.
* {{Squick}}: In ''Film/{{Piranha}} 3DD'', there's an attractive woman covered in blood and a decapitated head lands in between her boobs. [[AndThatsTerrible It's pretty disturbing]]. What makes it even more disturbing is that it looks like the writers intended it as {{Fanservice}}.
* TheWoobie: Mike during his testing of the "Lose a Stone in a Week", "Baby Food", "Ration Pack", and "Juicing" diets. He spends pretty much the entirety of them looking miserable and pathetic, and you just want to give him a hug.
