1	* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Could Venom and the other anti-heroes be right? Would the world - or at least New York - be safer if they simply killed Carnage and put him out of everyone's collective misery? Are Spider-Man, Captain America, Firestar and all the other "white hat" heroes really doing the right thing leaving him alive, or are they clinging to unrealistic ideas of how the fight against evil should be fought?
2	* ArcFatigue: It's often agreed that this story is longer than it needs to be, even by its fans.
3	* AssPull:
4	** Carrion literally appears out of nowhere, and joins Carnage for seemingly no reason. Doppelganger is found lurking around an alley, for no obvious reason.
5	** The positive emotion gun is not built up or alluded to ''one single time'' before it is used to defeat Shriek.
6	* CompleteMonster: [[Characters/MarvelComicsCarnage Carnage]] created a "family" of fellow super villains, using their powers to drive New York into homicidal insanity and to capture his "father" Venom, in whose captivity Carnage subjected to horrible torture. Not even his own family was safe from Carnage's psychosis, as he brutalized his "wife" Shriek for ignoring his instructions before murdering their "son" Doppelganger when he tried defending her.
7	* CultClassic: Despite the event being poorly received by critics, the Spider-Man fandom and even the writers themselves, the event is highly popular among the Comicbook/{{Venom}} fandom. Which has resulted in the event getting four semi-sequels. (Minimum Carnage, Carnage, U.S.A., ''ComicBook/AbsoluteCarnage'' and Extreme Carnage).
8	* SugarWiki/{{Funny Moment\|s}}: Doppelganger pops up, surprising Carnage and Shriek. Carnage complains "[[HeyThatsMyLine Hey, that's]] ''[[HeyThatsMyLine my]]'' [[HeyThatsMyLine line!]] I'm supposed to be the monster around here!" But relents on him joining his group when Shriek thought the creature was cute.
9	* SugarWiki/{{Heartwarming Moment\|s}}: When the rioters come to their senses and rally behind the heroes.
10	* HilariousInHindsight: After the climactic graveyard battle in which Carnage is finally recaptured, Black Cat wonders aloud if the nightmare is really over. In the final panel, Spider-Man, who is all of a sudden standing between the graves of Norman and Harry Osborn, tell us that "Some monsters stay dead." [[ComicBook/TheCloneSaga Well, so much]] [[ComicBook/OneMoreDay for THAT sentiment...]]
11	* {{Narm}}: In one scene, the heroes quell a riot not by throwing punches but by talking sense into the mob. This is fine in the case of characters like Spidey and Captain America, but in one of the most awkward, weird, hilariously out of place scenes in the entire crossover, Deathlok comes across a nerd looting a computer supply store. When the nerd recognizes Deathlok and geeks out over his tech specs (remember, he's a cyborg), Deathlok sternly reminds the young man that stealing computers isn't cool. That's right, ''Deathlok the Demolisher'' has a heart to heart moment with a larcenous nerd.
12	* {{Squick}}: The Carnage symbiote emerging from Kasady's wounds is pretty gross.
13	* TooBleakStoppedCaring: The hopeless tone found in most of the story makes it hard for the audience to care about what happens next.
14	* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Spider-Man's [[ThouShaltNotKill commitment to not killing Carnage]] and stopping those willing to do the deed are initially noble, but by the end, come off as self-righteous and stupid. His final interference really takes the cake, even insisting: "Too many people have died! One more won't solve anything!" Every time he saves Carnage, more people end up dying. Him arguing that Kasady deserves better than death is an insult to all of his victims, especially when Peter states that he (in his own twisted fashion) may be the "most innocent of all". Considering that Carnage had already murdered hundreds if not ''thousands'' of civilians, this rings so hollow that [[LampshadeHanging even Carnage himself doesn't buy it]]!
15	-->'''Carnage''': That psycho-babble is good for the occasional plea bargain, but it bears little relation to reality!
