* AnnoyingVideoGameHelper: In the author's opinion, Fi (your sidekick in ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword'') is worse than Navi (your sidekick in ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime'').
* DracoInLeatherPants: [[Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda Ganondorf]] in [[BadassInANiceSuit a three-piece business suit]] has quite a few admirers in the readership. It does help that with this version, he's far less antagonistic and has gotten sick of the standard routine of "Go out, kidnap a princess, and get sealed into the aether for centuries." It also doesn't hurt that he's one of the few who work at the office who's actually stable enough to maintain a regular job; he's almost never seen getting up to the crazy shenanigans that the rest of the people there do.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: The velociraptors. Often people comment on how cool and/or adorable they are every time they show.
* HePannedItNowHeSucks:
** Coelasquid got this reaction from [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword Skyward Sword]] fans when the below mentioned parody comic (which is mostly making fun of Fi) had a description from her saying that she hated the game itself as well. Probably not helping her is that a select few fans felt that her responses to the people who disagreed with her opinion came off as a bit vitriolic.
** Some readers were also not really enthused on [[VideoGame/DevilMayCry Dante]] being [[http://thepunchlineismachismo.com/archives/comic/im-sure-people-are-going-to-complain-at-me-about-this lumped together]] with the {{Bishonen}}s with a CompensatingForSomething joke being thrown at one of his swords (and it's not even his sword, it was his Father's).
** The Gackt Syndrome arc came off to a number of readers as the author spending an inordinate amount of time complaining about character designs she didn't like for rather shallow reasons.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** [[Series/GameOfThrones Tywin Lannister]] being referenced in a comic back when [[Literature/ASongOfIceAndFire it was a relatively obscure reference]]. *Particularly* funny in that the comic's title bemoans the fact no one will get it, while the then-upcoming HBO series mentioned in the description would become a massive cultural phenomena.
** The strip where Kenshiro from ''Manga/FistOfTheNorthStar'' becomes a fast food worker becomes hilarious with the minigames in ''VideoGame/FistOfTheNorthStarLostParadise''. There's a minigame where Kenshiro becomes a food vendor who serves food via Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken. Sadly, Kenshiro doesn't punch the shit out of the patrons. Before that, there was a parody spinoff called ''Anime/DDFistOfTheNorthStar'' which is about Kenshiro and the cast in a world where their badass powers are severely out of place in the modern non-apocalyptic world (Kenshiro takes a job at a convenience store), which is a similar premise as this comic.
** Kratos' [[VideoGame/GodOfWar2018 2018 game]] and its memetic names "Dad of War/Dad of Boy" given that they make Kratos in a much more reasonable figure not defined by solely his rage at past slights. Naturally there have been strips of him being a dad and how proud Commander Badass is of how far he's come, but it's still funny.
** [[http://thepunchlineismachismo.com/archives/730 The page describing the Uncanny Valley]], which illustrated its point by comparing an image of Simba to some bad renders of lions, became funnily prophetic when ''WesternAnimation/TheLionKing1994'' was remade as a [[WesternAnimation/TheLionKing2019 CG animated film]] that would go on to be heavily criticized for falling straight into the valley.
** The first strip in the Gackt Syndrome arc has TheRant spend most of its time complaining that ''VideoGame/{{Nier}}'' had a "father/daughter" version and a "brother/sister" version. At the time, the only version available in America was the former. In 2022, ''Nier Reincarnation'' came out in the West... and it was the ''latter''.
** When ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild'' came out, [[http://thepunchlineismachismo.com/archives/comic/i-still-havent-played-the-new-zelda a comic of Ganondorf having balled up his anger and resentment and letting go resulted in Calamity Ganon existing.]] Come [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTearsOfTheKingdom its sequel]] and it's revealed that that is exactly what Calamity Ganon actually was, Ganondorf's influence breaking through his bonds.
* JerkassWoobie:
** Kratos when his gay chicken match with Leonidas ends and he realizes the reason for his victory- that Leonidas has a family and a child he wants to get back to, while Kratos' are dead.
** Believe it or not, Jared. That super annoying personality is just a facade to cover his deep insecurity and parent issues, and when they break through...
%%** Duke Nukem.
* {{Moe}}: Jared has his moments, especially when he turns on the [[http://thepunchlineismachismo.com/archives/comic/further-ikea-adventures puppy eyes]].
%%* NightmareFuel:

%%** [[http://thepunchlineismachismo.com/archives/comic/theyre-basically-just-moray-eels Gyarados Xenomorphs. EEP.]]
* {{Squick}}:
** [[VideoGame/SilentHill2 Pyramid Head]] ''flirting''. It consists of air humping and attempts to molest when the target isn't looking. Yeah, don't make eye contact.
** [[http://thepunchlineismachismo.com/archives/comic/you-are-aware-of-how-marine-mammals-work-right Krato's reasoning behind why mermaids were assumed by many to look like pretty human ladies...]][[note]]Commander did point out there's a reason why they're confused with manatees.[[/note]]
%%** [[http://thepunchlineismachismo.com/archives/1229 Canadian Guy in the last panel.]]
* ViewerGenderConfusion: [[{{Bifauxnen}} Angel]] inspires quite a bit. WordOfGod is that she's simply a very masculine-looking woman.
