* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Isobel George generally comes across as a ReasonableAuthorityFigure mixed with SympatheticInspectorAntagonist who wrongly (but understandably) trusts the villain over the hero. However, her final scene makes her character much harder to read. [[spoiler:She has a sweet conversation with Roy, then ends it with her comment that she's sending him to a [[FalseReassurance secure place for his safety]]. Is this confirmation that she is an outright villainous character out to kill him for her own reasons, or is this her attempt to warn Roy that he's in danger while he still has time to do something about it? It's also worth noting that June is in the room incognito as a nurse during this conversation, getting ready to rescue Roy herself. Did Isobel fail to notice her, or notice her but pretend not to?]]
* HilariousInHindsight: Roy being able to hold his breath for extended periods is especially appropriate now that Creator/TomCruise has done ''Film/MissionImpossibleRogueNation'' with its extended free-diving sequence.
* NarmCharm: Tom Cruise plays a very convincing unhinged secret agent. Anyone else would have seemed just plain Narmy in the role but he actually makes it work. Maybe because people think he's crazy already?
%% * RetroactiveRecognition: Creator/Gal Gadot
* SpecialEffectsFailure: There are two instances of exploding planes in the film, both of them laughably fake CGI. The first at least has the excuse of being green-screened into the background behind Cruise at night, but the second one at the end looks painted into the skies.
