* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation:
** In the Christmas special, since the mall Santa and real Santa were played by the same actor, is it possible that mall Santa was really Santa Claus and he had actually set up the events that led to Kenan filling in for him to teach him to be more generous during Christmas?
** Marc Cram is generally depicted as an {{Adorkable}} NiceGuy. However, in "Happy B-Day Marc", despite being told Kenan was having a surgery he was embarrassed about, he proceeded to tell literally anyone who would listen. Later in "Picture Imperfect", Marc told Kenan that his school photo looked funny yet refused to elaborate. So is Mark really this InnocentlyInsensitive or is he a BitchInSheepsClothing who enjoys setting up DisasterDominoes?
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: What 90's kid ''didn't'' get the opening song stuck in their head from time to time?
* BaseBreakingCharacter:
** Kel, at least post-{{Flanderization}}; either he is still funny as ever or outright insufferable.
** Kyra. Some find her an annoying FlatCharacter with a creepy crush on Kel, while others find her funny in her own way.
* CargoShip: Kel loves orange soda a lot.
* CrossesTheLineTwice: Kel's response to Brianna saying she wears the sweater her grandma knitted her before she died on special occasions.
-->'''Kel:''' [[InnocentlyInsensitive Did you wear it to your grandma's funeral?]]
* HarsherInHindsight:
** When Kenan and Kel made a cameo in ''Film/TheAdventuresOfRockyAndBullwinkle'', they made a joke about how their show wasn't gonna be canceled anytime soon after hearing about [[EndOfSeriesAwareness the toons' first show]]. Kenan and Kel was canceled three months before the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie was released. Granted, the timing of that joke could've been on purpose; The final season of the show is very much aware that it's ending, and they were probably starting on it when filming that scene.
** All the friendship moments between the duo can fall into this due to the falling out between the titular actors. Allegedly, Creator/KenanThompson has distanced himself from Creator/KelMitchell in recent years to emphasize his career as an adult comedian. However, they [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odQQ4jgGpFU reunited in a Good Burger sketch]] on ''Series/TheTonightShow with Creator/JimmyFallon'', so it seems like they buried the hatchet.
** In the TV Film ''Two Heads are Better Than None'', Roger complains about how a side-of-the-road gas station ends up increasing the price of the gas from a $1.23 to $3.23 a gallon. This becomes ''way'' harder to laugh at considering years after the film, gas prices end up increasing near or ''past'' $3.23.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** In one episode, Kel plugs his headphones into an apple expecting to hear music. About 5 years later, a company called Apple creates the iPod.
** One episode has Roger passing out at his desk, meaning Kenan has to try and help a pilot land a plane. Fast forward to ''Film/SnakesOnAPlane'' and Kenan Thompson is on the other side[[note]]The pilot is killed and he has to try and land the plane[[/note]].
** When interviewing potential actors to play his parents in one episode, one of the couples Kel brings in is Asian. [[spoiler: In another episode, Kenan thinks he might be adopted when he learns of a ''Kevin'' Rockmore born on the same day in Chicago. This illusion is shattered when this set of Rockmores turn out to be Asian]].
* JerkassWoobie: Roger, especially in "Get the Kel Outta Here". Kel also qualifies in the same episode as a regular one.
* MoralEventHorizon: The Headless Knight crossed it by cutting off people's heads, using them as his own, and eating the bodies.
* {{Squick}}: Really, just about any thing involving Chris's mother: "Mother loves mashed potatoes, she'll gum these right down!" Or, "I'm so depressed, I'm going to go home and shave mother..." Or the fact that Chris would keep her foot scrapings for really no reason...
* ValuesDissonance: A double example. One episode features Kel dressing up as a woman and marrying Kenan so they can go on a game show. For most of the 2000s gay marriage was such a hot-button issue the sequence wouldn't have happened on a children's show, and in the 2010s it would have created outrage for making the idea of two men marrying into a joke. In fact, once gay marriage was legalised in the 2010s, Kenan and Kel could simply pretend to be a same sex couple and compete.
* ValuesResonance: Shockingly enough, the HotForTeacher episode. Kel is happy to tease Kenan about having a crush on Miss Horn. But when he (mistakenly) believes she's trying to seduce him, his reaction isn't that it's hot or kinky. He pulls off a WhatTheHellHero at the very idea, and Miss Horn outright says how inappropriate it would be. Bear in mind this is with a female teacher and a male student.
