* {{Anvilicious}}: Republicans are Nazis, at least on the surface
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The trailer rocks out to Music/{{Laibach}}'s [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgqjnzkYPnA B Mashina.]]
* GeniusBonus: Many.
** For example, [[spoiler:all Nazi spaceships have been named after Wagner's operas.]] The score quotes Wagner's Gotterdämmerung in particular. Fittingly, Gotterdämmerung is the German translation of [[spoiler:[[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt Ragnarök]]]]. Of course there is a reason why the trope MusicToInvadePolandTo brings Wagner to mind...
** Adler's name recalls Alfred Adler, an Austrian psychologist who built his theory of individual psychology around the "Will to Power".
** When the Indian representative sees the swastika on this incoming spaceships, he quickly hides his own UsefulNotes/NonNaziSwastika.
** The national anthem of the Moon Nazis uses the tune of the old German patriotic song "[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_Wacht_am_Rhein Die Wacht am Rhein]]" with different lyrics. From World War One to the end of World War 2, "Die Wacht am Rhein" was so popular that it was one of the ''de facto'' German national anthems (the other one being the more famous - and still used today - "[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutschlandlied Deutschlandlied]]"). So, the Nazis kept as their anthem a tune their ancestors viewed as such.
* HarsherInHindsight:
** Adler and Richter's populist message proving extremely successful after being adapted into the US Republican presidential campaign can have a bitter aftertaste after the real-world global rise of right-wing populism from 2015 onward, especially in the US.
** The Moon Nazis forcibly change Washington's black skin to white to "aryanize" him, making him appear like an albino black man, PlayedForLaughs because of the ridiculous pseudo-science involved. In the third season of ''Series/TheManInTheHighCastle'' aired in 2018, another work centered around technologically-advanced Nazis, their scientists are shown performing similar experiments on black people, this time playing it for unironic NightmareFuel.
* MoralEventHorizon: When Vivian orders the attack on the Schwarze Sonne, over objections of "What about the women and children down there?". ([[FridgeLogic How the crew]] ''[[FridgeLogic knows]]'' there are women and children inside a secret Nazi base on the "dark side" of the moon, which they only first saw a minute earlier, we aren't told.) Considering the Nazis have been on the moon since the Second World War and aren't elderly, it is reasonable to assume that they have women and children inside their base.
* MusicToInvadePolandTo: The soundtrack includes snippets of Wagner's operas, most obviously Music/RideOfTheValkyries and Gotterdammerung.
* {{Narm}}: When Kortzfleisch is shot, the vocal reaction is hilariously underwhelming.
* SpecialEffectFailure:
** No one could ever legitimately believe that Washington is anything but an albino black man. Not much you can do about it, though, besides completely changing the actor. However, it's arguable that that's a failure at all, since he underwent treatment that made his skin and lighter, and apparently made his... lets say it made his crotch "disappointing". There's no reason to expect anything other than an albino black man. There ''are'' Albino black people, and that is exactly what most people in the real world would have confused Washington with. [[DeliberateValuesDissonance Then again, it's completely in tone with the Nazis' superficial racist views to believe that whiteface would make him Aryan]].
** When the moon mission lander touches down at the beginning of the movie, the engine stops when the foot pads are still a little bit above the ground. In the real Apollo missions, the astronauts dared not shut off the lunar module's descent engine until the contact light was lit, indicating that the foot pads were on the surface. We lost the Mars polar lander because its descent engine cut out before it was on the ground.
* SpiritualAdaptation: Makes for a rather spoofy adaptation of the ''VideoGame/{{Wolfenstein}}'' video game franchise, the latest entries especially.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: "Ready to face the music" (the piece which plays when the US Airforce swoops in to defend New York) has its initial chords resemble [[Franchise/StarWars the Imperial March]]. [[{{Anvilicious}} Probably not unintentionally]], given [[TheEmpire the way the US is presented in the film]].
* TooBleakStoppedCaring: On the one side we have [[StupidJetpackHitler Moon Nazis]] who want to destroy and/or conquer the Earth. On the other side we have the people of Earth, a collection of {{Jerkass}}es and [[TheDitz Dumbasses so universally horrible they almost make the Nazis]] look like good guys in comparison.
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: The CGI was quite well done, and a surprising amount of it.
