* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Almost all of the soundtrack, which is done in a strange trance style really unlike anything else. Special note goes to:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iy-F0f_gDI The Shrine of Farewell]], which is really a primer for the whole soundtrack.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKR5b8_plQc Rusted Dragon's theme]] - not easy listening, but very deep and multilayered.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9cEPUOV-GQ The Apostles of the Seed]] - featuring a OneWomanWail worthy of [[DualBoss two of]] [[ThatOneBoss the hardest bosses in the game]].
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASpNK3OyYZE The first bosses' theme.]]
*** The incredibly short [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxjAlzN8pOU Scarlet Queen's Kernel]] theme, which is a remix of the 1-2 boss theme.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6qdalup2s4 The second half of Segment 8.]], which is also the third title theme.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBKA-YXyU1Y Theme of]] [[OverlyLongName Floccinaucinihilipilification]]
** It is interesting to note that all stages and bosses are more or less [[MickeyMousing perfectly synced to the BGM]].
** And finally, let's not forget the ''Without reStraint'' remixes.

* ComplacentGamingSyndrome: Most players who have unlocked the Lead segments never play Segment 2 Behind, citing the lack of scoring tricks and the exceptionally dull endboss, Glorious Symbol.
%%* EpilepticTrees: The Game.
* FanNickname: The Level 2 FinalBoss's official name is garbled, so fans have taken it to calling it "Glitched Kaleidoscope" (in theme with the Level 1 final boss's name, "Kaleidoscope").
%%* GeniusBonus: A good part of the plot is there mainly for astute players to unravel.
* GoddamnedBoss: Old Rose in Segment 5 Sol occasionally [[FlunkyBoss summons Mistletoes]] to assist her. This can prolong battles not because they're there, but when she's "charging up" the Mistletoes and while they're deployed, her defense skyrockets, causing you to take longer to defeat her.
* GoodBadBugs: Segment 3 Lead does not have an endboss. If you select it in Segment Location, but with the Discharge button (to activate boss-only mode), the Segment will start as usual...''at the result screen.''
* ItsEasySoItSucks: Kagura's Infernal Sabbath setup is looked down upon by many players, who feel that its straightforwardness defeats the entire purpose of the game.
* ItsHardSoItSucks: The sheer apparent convolutedness turns off a lot of prospective players.
* MainstreamObscurity: Relatively speaking, but within the Shmup community this game is legendary yet few have actually played it.
* MemeticMutation: YOU GOT INSANITY.
** KEEP YOUR INSANITY.
** HELLSINKER MAKES YOU SPEAK IN ALLCAPS.
* NightmareFuel:
** In a game otherwise lacking any coherent spoken dialogue, Scarlet Queen's "[[AC:You [[OneWingedAngel will]] [[PrepareToDie die]] [[CreepyMonotone here!]]]]" is pretty creepy, especially if you're not expecting it. The same clip plays in other spots, but it has the most impact here because [[NothingIsScarier the music stops when it plays]].
** The Spirit Overload ending, where you aren't simply killed, but instead {{Mind Rape}}d with Rex Cavalier's memories and implied to turn into a Prayer [[WhoWantsToLiveForever who can never die]].
* ScrappyMechanic: The game does offer one continue, but it locks you into the worst possible ending if you use it, making it virtually pointless in terms of completing the game. The continue is also used up if you go through the Shrine of Farewell.
* SequelDifficultyDrop: The difficulty this time around is much more manageble than the absolutely merciless ''Radio Zonde''.
* ThatOneAttack:
** Million Lives in the Shrine of Farewell has Innocent Clockworks. This attack requires you to get right next to the boss, and the alternative, if you stay below, involves extremely difficult dodging as well as getting your shots blocked, causing you to waste time and bombs, lowering your spirit count by extension.
* ThatOneBoss:
** Glorious Symbol, the boss of Segment 2 Behind is often regarded by many players as the worst boss in the entire game. It has too much health, it won't stop firing at the player and it always tries to trap you into a corner to kill you. To make matters worse, this is ''the second boss'' for a lot of new players, which can cause a lot of RageQuit for those who started the game. Thankfully, upon completing Segment 4, the game lets you choose alternate stages for Segments 1-3, with Segment 2 Lead's boss, Scarlet Queen, being a much more straightforward fight with a more reasonable amount of health.
** The Apostles of the Seed at the end of Segment 6 are quite possibly the hardest [[DualBoss bosses]] aside from the {{Final Boss}}es. Both bosses have brutal attacks and will team up at two points to wear you down.
* ThatOneLevel:
** If you care about [[ScoringPoints Spirits]], the Shrine of Farewell. You have unlimited lives, but dying and bombing will cause you to lose crystals, which will ultimately lead to less Spirits than what you entered with if you continue to make mistakes.
** Segment 6. On top of featuring the [[DualBoss Apostles]] [[ThatOneBoss of the Seed]], after you destroy them, you have about another minute of enemies with brutal attack patterns to go afterwards.
* ViewerGenderConfusion: Minogame is a ''hermaphrodite''.
