3	* BestKnownForTheFanservice: Francesca in her [[LadyInRed sexy red dress]] is certainly a steamy highlight.
4	* CompleteMonster: [[spoiler:[[BigBad Jack Ferriman]], aka the "Ferryman",]] is a self-described "salvage expert" who collects souls to send to Hell, only given the job as a demon for having lived an immoral life. Requiring his victims to [[TheCorrupter damn themselves]] first before killing them, he goads the crew on the Italian cruise liner the ''Antonia Graza'' to butcher everyone on board with the promise of getting their hands on [[GoldFever a crate of gold bars]]. Passengers are attacked all over the ship in the ensuing massacre, getting cut open, poisoned, or gunned to death, including a child being hanged. The instigators turn on each other after killing the passengers, and he kills the last one himself with a meat hook before trapping the ghosts on the ship in fear and torment. He also repeatedly lures salvage crews to the derelict cruise liner under the guise of fixing the ship, then tricks them into staying to get the gold, before killing them all one by one. Worse yet, [[spoiler:the end of the film shows him taking the gold onto another ship to restart the cycle anew]].
5	* CultClassic: Over time, the film has developed a small following, who appreciate its place as Dark Castle Entertainment's first original film, praise its special effects within the unique setting of a haunted cruise ship, and enjoy how it embodies the artistic trends of the early 2000s horror scene.

7	** The ghost captain tells Murphy how the ''Antonia Graza'' rescued a ship called the ''Lorelei'' before everyone was killed. “Die Lorelei” is a German poem about a woman who lures ships and sailors to their demise.
8	** The painting featured in the great hall was inspired by Michelangelo’s depiction of Charon in the last Judgement. This foreshadows that [[spoiler:Ferriman]] is scavenging souls.

10	** During their first meeting, Epps finds Katie's locket and sees a picture of her parents. Katie asks her not to close it, as she hasn't seen them in decades. She especially lights up at the sight of her mother in the picture, happily saying that her dress was actually made by her mother, doing a rather cute twirl and asking if Epps likes it. She then shyly tells Epps, [[YouRemindMeOfX "You remind me of her."]]
11	** [[spoiler: Katie is not corrupted as the rest of the ghosts are as she died innocent and thus able to resist the lure of evil. At the end, after Epps successfully scuttles the ''Graza'', every soul that Ferriman had taken is set free and ascends to Heaven, set to a rather hopeful theme. Katie gives Epps one last smile before disappearing into light.]]
12	* HilariousInHindsight: The part where the men eat [[spoiler:maggots instead of rice]] gets funnier when ''WesternAnimation/FlushedAway'' did the same thing PlayedForLaughs 4-5 years later.
13	* NauseaFuel: Two men eat some seemingly innocuous tins of beans and rice from the kitchen of a derelict, adrift, haunted ocean liner. Then they realize that they're actually wolfing down... [[spoiler:maggots]].
14	* NightmareFuel: The full scope of what happened that night on the ''Antonia Graza'': it starts off with some of the crew killing the kitchen staff so they can put rat poison in the food and we see some of passengers looking ill with a few throwing up; it then cuts to the infamous bisection scene -- and from there, all hell breaks loose. The passengers are rounded up and gunned down by the pool or just butchered in the hallways by the now crazed crew members, with a few dragging off Katie to do ''something'' to her. After killing the passengers, one crew member is seduced by Francesca to kill the rest of them before being killed himself, and then Francesca is killed as well to finish off the slaughter.

16	** The dance scene in the opening, which ends with everyone at the dance being bisected by razor wire flying across the deck. Even people who disliked the film cite it as a great opening.
17	** The surprise "maggot-in-a-can" also counts, as it's reused as a stock scary or disgusting ShowWithinAShow scene in other films of the era.
18	* SpiritualSuccessor: Possibly to Beck's previous film ''Film/Thir13enGhosts'' (2001) as they were made by the same director and production company, have the same camerawork and editing style and themes of the supernatural, self-sacrifice and so on. Also, people getting [[HalfTheManHeUsedToBe sliced in half]] by unusual means.

20	* TheWoobie: Katie. Poor, poor Katie. She was a young girl who was brutally murdered by several men, and her soul was bound to [[spoiler:Ferriman]]; however, because she had committed no sin, [[spoiler:Ferriman]] couldn't control her. In the end she is set free and passes to the afterlife, whatever that might be for her.

23	* ObviousBeta: The games were all made by a single programmer, who was largely self-taught and learning the Unreal engine on-the-fly while making the first game. As a result they're all very janky.
24	** The first game has extremely limited graphics options (including only 2 available resolutions, 720p and 1080p) as well as the complete inability to rebind keys.
25	** The tactics of the enemy aliens largely consist of jumping into your hitbox and bouncing around half-clipping inside you until you die.
26	** The scripting of several missions is unclear, and it's often impossible to tell whether you're doing something wrong or the game is just broken.
27	** If you change maps while hold a laser weapon, its battery stops recharging until you fire it. If its battery is at 0 when this happens, it effectively becomes useless.
28	* SequelDifficultyDrop: The second game has been rebalanced to be less frustrating; enemy speed has been rebalanced so that killing them before they can reach you is easier, and dying no longer causes the game to delete your save file.
